So I bought a pair of tickets on Groupon and then called the number listed to book the show for last night... 5 minutes before calling, the show was available for purchase on their website. I spoke with an employee of the Comedy Connection who stated to me the show was sold out. Confused, I went back on the website and was able to purchase a pair of tickets. I called back and spoke to a different employee who then clarified and basically stated that there were no tickets left for Groupons. It doesn't make much sense, who sell a Groupon if you don't want to honor it? Now here I am, after paying full price with a Groupon I wonder if I'll be able to use. I attempted to speak with a manager and the calling service I spoke with said they'd forward my information. I have yet to receive a call back. read more

Cool little spot to catch a comedian or two. We saw Pete Correale the other night here. Perfect for a nice intimate experience with the comedian on stage. I would say any seat in the house is great because it's such a quaint venue. I enjoy places like these because there's more chance for interaction with the individual on stage. We also had the opportunity for a meet and greet afterwards. I can't say much about the food because we didn't have any but the people next to us were indulging in some cheese fries and pizza and it smelt delicious! Looking forward to coming back. read more

It was an alright experience. Seating was terrible i always think there has to be a better way to sit the audience in a comedy club. Drinks were ok, we all had assorted drinks, not too strong... our shared table patrons were annoying dicks, probably wouldn't of minded them if we were two strong drinks in. Loved the atmosphere! Drinks were inexpensive, seating was fine, and the crack fries were tasty! Tickets for a Saturday night show of a pretty well know performer at usually like $20-25 dollars. Order your tickets online beforehand to ensure you get tickets because sometimes (usually) the earlier shows will sell-out. There is a very eclectic and diverse demographic that comes here-- anywhere from college kids, young professionals, and retired folks. It's a good time! Everyone around me had pizza which looked delicious but we had already had shogun for dinner. We were nice and close to the stage. The guys were great. Lots of funny jokes and an overall good time. Went to CC this weekend for a show - the venue is cool (used to be an old bank), there isnt a bad seat in the house and the comedian was hysterical...so why is it rated 3 stars, you ask? They wouldn't serve tap water - only bottled water for $2...even though I ordered 3 glasses of wine by the end of the evening and my husband had 2 glasses of Jameson on the rocks. Maybe if I only planned on drinking water but come on!! Furthermore, we got our bill and they charged us for ice. Yes. Ice. Glasses of frozen water. If there is one thing I hate, it's being nickled and dimed. So they lost a star for each - one star for charging for water and another for charging for ice. See what it's like to be nickled and dimed? Not fun but you know, karma. Update - One of the owners did promptly reach out to me about the above. While I still do not agree with his explanation on the whiskey issue, I will update my review from 3 to 4 stars for the effort he put in and his prompt response. I still fundamentally disagree with the water issue and feel that CC is only asking for trouble - any responsible alcohol drinker will want a water or two over the course of the evening but if people have to pay, that's not going to happen as often. read more

This place has provided me with some of my best experiences while living here in Rhode Island. It's a great stop to get a feel for the comics performing in RI plus great outsourced talent. I love a good comic & this place never disappoints! They often have Groupon specials, but even when they don't, it's still an affordable night out. They offer lots of special events with big-named comedians. The local talents are always hilarious. Drinks are delish, but maybe too much flavor & not nearly enough alcohol. The small food menu has common bar foods offered at good prices. The only reason I dropped a star is because it's so small. It's not small per say, but seating can be tight. They try to squeeze as many people in there to make more money (which I totally get). I'd definitely recommend for a nice low-key night out. There's a new tavern right next door that I'm looking forward to trying out before the next show I attend. read more

We had 6 people in our party, and the place was packed yet our waitress was very responsive and I never felt that we were ignored or passed over. The food is typical bar food and was pretty good. I love the comedy connection. Fellas if your looking for a great date night this is it. Laughing is a great way to spend a night. The comedians are varied. Some are well known some are not but everyone I have seen is funny. Usually the host will crack a few jokes then there is a warm up comic before the main act. Expect to be there for about two hours. It's a very cozy place and the seats are close together. Pretty much every seat is a good one. The service is decent. They check on you often and keep your drinks refilled. They have a full bar and all kinds of funky drinks also. Food is typical bar food but quite tasty. I have had pizza wings and pretzels so far and all good. It can get busy so I recommend getting there early and getting your drink on and ordering some food at soon as you can. If your looking for a great night out this is it. There's no logical connection to comedy at the Comedy Connection. It's an oxymoron. What you'll find here is a revolving door of tragedians, kvetching about their miserable, underpaid careers of choice. And when that shtick becomes trite, ham-handed segues and hackneyed routines that criticize local elected officials and the poor state of Rhode Island's economy seem to be the default act. It's actually a bit depressing. Jokes are poorly executed and crudely concocted. Kindergarteners could have written most of the lines from start to finish. It's all predictably contrived, lowbrow humor. The alcohol helps you crack a smile from time to time, but it's all in a piteous sort of way. When I visited, what seemed to be an aging hobo relieved the cavalcade of cheap acts and then spent an inordinate amount of time trying to ply humor from the unfortunate circumstances of his life. Real-life homeless people are usually drunker and funnier, so why spend money to see a nuanced rendering of someone's sad state of affairs? You're familiar with the acronym LOL? Well, at the Comedy Connection, it's more like FML. read more

I've come to greatly enjoy the Comedy Connection in lil' ol' East Providence. Having been a huge fan of the comedy club we frequented in Denver, I was a bit skeptical when I first arrived at CC. It was surely a different atmosphere, but I thought hey, why not? I love to laugh and my husband loves stand up comedy as well so it makes for a great date night. The comedy connection has more of an open feel to it and is less cramped than what I was used to in Denver, where they shoved you in like sardines. Prices are pretty reasonable depending how popular the show/line up is. I've been for a regular stand up show and for their amateur night, which offers a long list of comedians from the area who range from the not-so-amateur to the "hey guys, this is my first time doing stand up that isn't in front of my friends, so bare with me". The beverages are pretty fairly priced for a comedy club, and the draft beer selections holds a few craft gems to make me happy. It's a little hard to find if you are unfamiliar to the area and parking can be tricky on busy nights. Best bet is to arrive about 45 minutes before the show and find a spot in their lot. Park is free, which is always a plus. I think that is probably one of the best perks to this place NOT being in downtown Providence. So if you love to laugh, enjoy decent priced drinks and well, service is pretty friendly, if not a little slow at times, I highly recommend CC. It's a great place for big laughs but with definite little Rhody flavor. read more

About a month ago I went to see Joe Matarese with my girlfriend. I wasn't specifically familiar with his work but I read he had big appearances on the Tonight Show, Comedy Central, X-Factor, etc. The $15 ticket prices and free parking were a nice change of pace compared to seeing a show in Boston or some other venues. My girlfriend is not a particularly big fan of very crowded places, and by the time the show started the place was beyond packed. Everyone was shoulder to shoulder seated on long benches, some people facing a bit away from the stage. I don't mind crowds, and it usually enhances the humor at comedy shows, but I really had to wrench my neck and back the whole time due to the bench seating, our proximity to the stage, and the few inches between myself and 5 other people. Another negative includes the disgusting half-broken men's bathroom, but not a deal breaker. I didn't get any food or drinks but they looked like your average bar food and booze. The main show was very funny with good warm-up acts as well. Overall what really matters to me are the affordable ticket prices and hilarious comedians. I will be going to more shows for sure, I just may show up even earlier to make sure I get a seat where I don't have to crane my neck the whole time (still worth it though). read more

Great venue!. I was there for the Arty Lange show last night. To start the free parking is great. The line moved quickly into the building and we were seated with no problem what so ever very efficient set up. The seating is very close but comfortable. The waitress took our order and we were enjoying are very affordable pitcher of beer withing ten minutes. needles to say Arty and opener Brian Beaudoin were fantastic and sounded great In the room. Also I know a pet peeve for some comics and guest is the check drop about twenty or so minutes before the end of the show which I think the staff did a great job at not distracting or interfering with the performance. Great venue. It's small, but there really isn't a bad seat in the house. We went to see Dan Smith. The host, Mike was amazing. I had no clue that he wasn't the opening act because he was so hilarious. The opening act, Marty (Something) was also very funny. We paid about $15 each for the tickets. I think the price was very reasonable, and my boyfriend and I had a blast. We sat down with an empty stomach. The food didn't take long (maybe 20 minutes). It was nothing exceptional, but we polished off the Big Meat pizza in less than 30 minutes. The fries are worth it, though. Keep in mind, this place does not really operate in favor of their food service. I noticed that by the vague menu and comments like "coffee is served only in the months of October - March". Barely anyone ordered much (food) other than fries and I was seated next to the service station (which is bad because I'm a server/bartender) and watched food sit there for 15-20 minutes before being brought to a table. My advice, don't order food until after the opening act comes on the stage. The servers are too busy catching up on drinks to serve food and the hosts (who helped run food) were still at the door seating people. It took a really long time to get service because it was a sold out show and there were only 3 servers and 2 bartenders. They could have used one more of each. We were stuck waiting 25 minutes after the show to pay, even though we were ready to pay the minute she dropped the check. It's not the fault of the waitstaff that it was so crowded, but better planning could have prevented their being understaffed. Bathrooms were quite clean. Beware ladies, only two stalls so there could be a line depending on when you need to go. Parking is limited, but free. If you come to an earlier show, you should be fine. We arrived 15 minutes early and got the last parking space. The location is easy to find and conveniently right off the highway. The pricing on the food and drinks were reasonable. Expect $4-5 on a beer and about $10 for a coctail. That's about right for Providence. I really liked the mood of the place. It's the best location I've been to in the area. You'd need to go to Boston for the next best thing. read more

I have been to clubs in CT, MA, NY, CO, CA, NV, TX, FL and RI. Having lived in most of those places. The Comedy Connection is one of the best clubs in the North East. They bring in the best names in comedy to Rhode Island; (saw Dave Attell in June there) and are a strong presence in the comedy club scene. The building is very cool as it was a former bank, and before the show the comics actually wait in what was the bank's vault. Lucky for us, they break this vault open each show with hilarity and comic genius. The staff members are excellent. The drinks are delivered quickly, and the food comes out pretty fast as well. If you are looking for 5 star food, I would not go to a comedy club, but if you are looking for some tasty treats to go with your beverage of choice, then the Comedy Connection has some great meals on their menu. The wings and nachos are great for only under $10. One person in our party went with the hummus and pita chips for a healthier option. The serving staff is actually really good at maintaining a low profile during the show as to not take away any attention towards the stage. The price of the tickets is amazing considering you are paying about the same as you would for movie tickets, and you get LIVE entertainment; and are able to have your adult drink of choice at your table. We met some really cool people from Mass. who were sitting at our table with our group. I like when comedy clubs have the tables that allow you to see people laughing across from you, it is better than sitting in a row like "theatre" environment. They had a pretty cool process for getting people in and out. You enter through the front door on Warren Ave, and then get to exit out directly to the parking lot. We enjoyed this immensely as we actually got to meet and talk with the comics who performed. That was a big plus, to interact with them on the Club's patio on the side of the building. If you want really raunchy comedy go on a Friday night to the Hardcore Show. I have been twice, and both times I experienced gut splitting laughs. Cool place. I've been to the Comedy Connection in EP twice now. Our server was really nice, had suggestions as to which cocktails were good to try. I got the chocolate covered strawberry martini, and also tried the lemon drop martini as well. They were both tasty and STRONG definitely worth the 8 and 10 dollars a piece. I went on a Friday night and it was a very small crowd so beware as the comedians will more often than not play off the crowd. It's a good time would definitely recommend it to someone looking for something a little different to do. read more

Our Groupon deal of $22 for 2 tickets and 2 free drinks was honored for comedian Brian Scolaro. Great ! He was pretty funny along with the other 3 opening acts. seemingly clean place except for the bathrooms!!! Gross.!!! We almost ordered food but then decided if a place cannot keep their bathrooms at least somewhat acceptable, then maybe it's not wise to order food here. Overall pretty small and cramped venue though. Waiters don't have much room to walk by. I hear it used to be a bank. But due to its small size there really doesn't seem to be a bad seat in the house. Here's my beef: when we ordered our 2 free beers the waitress knew they would be free because she took our voucher. We were with a friend who got a soda ($2). When she brings the check towards the end of the show, we see $12 due.....?!?!? She comes by again and as I'm about to say that she made a mistake, she says twice: "yours is only $4" meaning our friends soda. With the show still going on we just quickly told our friend and he handed his card. YES TOTAL BRAIN FART ON OUR END. When driving off we realized HEY! Why did she say $4 when sodas are only $2?!?!?! She purposely overcharged our friend! THANKFULLY HE LEFT $0 TIP!!! SERVES YOU RIGHT BIMBO. I have mixed feelings on this place because I truly had a good time for a cheap deal and there are future comedians coming here that I wanna see, but it seems like staff are seriously lacking in many areas. (I've heard that you cannot answer a comedian's question??? Oooookkkkkkkkkkkk......I guess you apparently get spoken to and reprimanded like a toddler by the bouncers.) The Comedy Connection is a small venue, seating about 60 people. Great size to see a comic, and even better if the show is a big-name comic. Our tix were $15 each for general admission to see Frank Santorelli. However, the show starts out with a short warm-up from the emcee, then a bit longer routine from an up & coming comic. Finally the headliner. Overall, the show was about an hour and a half long. We didn't get food, but they do offer a number of snacks/bar appetizers. We ordered a bottled beer and a martini, and the bill was $14+tip, a bit on the pricey side, but not unexpected given the venue. There seems to be adequate parking and it's right off the Warren Ave exit on I-195. Overall, this is a great place to have a few laughs. read more

Wow, what a great place to see a Comedy show! Seats were first come, first serve for the 12/31 Jim Norton set. The line moved quickly and the bouncer was very un-bouncer like, very friendly and courteous. The seats weren't jam packed like other comedy venues. I was sitting next to the largest dude in the place and everyone had plenty of room to move around. We were near the front, but looking around, there wasn't a bad seat in the house. Service was incredibly good. We had 4 or 5 drinks each and the waitress never let us run out. The food is basic finger food and Sisco frozen apps, which is OK if you need a bite to get by. I have been here numerous times and each time the comedians are obviously a little different so do your research before to make sure it is the type of jokes you like. Example: I am sick of the pot smoking jokes so I check out who is coming and pick based on that. Last night I was so pleased with the comedian, Leonard Outz, he was hilarious! The opening host I had seen 6 months ago when I went there and all of his jokes were the same so just be aware you may have a lot of repeats in the beginning if you frequent this place. They then had another comedian before the main act and he was great! If you are looking to just get away from the stresses in life, why not go to this comedy club for a few hours? The prices are reasonable as they are always on groupon and the drinks are excellent if you are looking for those fun, fruity drinks or tasty martinis. Had the pretzel martini and the expresso martini, both tasted just as described and they aren't weak drinks at all. For $9 each not a bad deal and you get 2 drinks free with the groupon! The venue is basic inside, seats are not very comfortable but that's not what you are there for, the entertainment is great, parking is plentiful, and the drinks are perfect. I can't comment on the food because we ordered the buffalo chicken pizza but they brought it to the wrong table, we thought the waitress just forgot, when it was on the bill she immediately got the manager (wasn't necessary as we weren't upset, how could we care? We just laughed and had a great time no need to sweat the small stuff). They had given it to the wrong table and that table just ate it haha! He immediately gave us a voucher for a free app which I thought was a really nice gesture. Definately will be returning soon! read more

I've been here twice with groupons both times. They manage to do a lot with a small space and we've always had good service and been close to the stage. Location can be a bit tough to find, so make sure you know where you're going, but there is ample lot and street parking. There are even a few good places to eat up the street, though the food they have is totally acceptable pub-type food. Our groupons came with a drink each and we tried some of the quirky cocktails (I think I got a s'mores somethingorother, was sweet and strong, I enjoyed it) and liked them. The first time I went it was to see Chelsea Peretti at the early show. Opener comics were fine, decent, and she was funny, didn't seem totally into it (she said she'd gotten lost on the way there and arrived sort of late). Kept checking her phone, I guess for time stuff? Second time we saw Bobcat Goldthwait at the late show and he was on fire. Really funny. Very interactive with the audience without being really provocative. Even his openers were pretty great. Both times the service was professional and decent even in a pretty crowded location. They manage to do a lot with a small space and really close-together shows. Folks start lining up for the second shows early so if you're going to the later shows be aware that there will be a line. I'd definitely recommend going here to see big name comedians in a small venue. I think the local folks (as evidenced by some of the openers) are more hit and miss though i think that's to be expected. read more

I simply can't see how anybody would give this place anything less than 5 Stars! My boyfriend and I went here about a month back for date night. We had received, as a gift from my brother, two tickets to the comedy show and two free drinks. The inside was set up like any comedy show would be set up really (bar in the back, seats and table lined up facing the stage). The comedians were hilarious and interactive with the audience! it seemed like everybody in the audience was laughing and having a great time. For the free drinks- I tried an Oreo Martini and my boyfriend had a beer. the Oreo martini was AMAZING to say the least! i was blown away. It was by far the best martini i've ever had and to this day i still bring it up. A plus is that the specialty (of the 2 free tickets and 2 drinks) applies to any drink on the menu which is surprising to say the least. A lot of places will have a maximum on how much you can spend on the drink. For food we are a pizza- which wasn't the best pizza i've ever had but it certainly wasn't the worst either. It was a lot better than i expected it would be. The waiter was great as well, always checking in on us and making sure we were ok without ruining or disrupting the performance of the comedian. The Connection features top notch A-listers, but also spotlights up and coming local comics. The Connection is owned by two life long Rode Islanders, and these guys know what they're doing. They're always on site for all of the live acts and are eager to ensure you have a great experience. They have a great pub food menu and a slew of beers on tap. They also make great use of the venue when comedians aren't playing - for instance, every Tuesday is poker night. All in all, you won't find a better comedy club in Rhode Island. read more

We come here a lot for date night. The food is pretty good and also love the drinks here. The only thing that I dont care for is the seating arrangements and the seats are uncomfortable. If you sit at the long tables in the middle of the room you have to turn sideways and the seats are very close together. So when we went this past Friday we got there early and got a seat up front where you are facing the stage. The servers are good with coming by often taking drink orders. read more
