Much easier and I got better seats next to my friend this time. This is a legit comedy club and has a really cool vibe. I love that you can order drinks and pay with a QR code too. Before the show starts they say limit talking at your table. However, no one enforces it. There was a couple next to us that was SO loud. Everyone kept giving him an evil eye and finally my friend asked him to be quiet. He yelled that he was in fact whispering. A staff member was nearby the whole time and didn't do anything. I love this place but wish they enforced the rules. I'm not paying to hear some random dude talk to his wife.

We managed to catch the opening night showing of Once while we were in town and really enjoyed ourselves. I believe it's first-come-first-served seating, so I do recommend coming early if you want a specific seat. We were a little bit late and arrived about 15 minutes before the show and somehow managed to get the last 3 seats together. The show was great - it felt like very intimate, which was a completely different experience to my first time seeing Once, which was on Broadway in a huge theater.

The theater was founded in 1997 as part of an arts and education collaborative created by Providence public school teachers. The Educational Center for the Arts and Science was a multidisciplinary approach to after school and weekend programming for students in Providence. Over the years, ECAS Theater grew to produce and stage original and classic works of theater, provide theatrical instruction to youth and adults, and bring theater companies from across the US and Latin America to Rhode Island. ECAS Theater operates a 90-seat black box theater where I went for a Fringe PVD performance. The stage manager and the volunteers were very friendly and very helpful on getting everyone to the right place. Its tough to review improv because the cast and material are always changing. I remember seeing…read moreImprov Jones about 8 years ago and thought it was great. However, a recent show I went to was cringe-worthy. Out of 4 performers it seemed like one completely lacked a sense of humor, another wanted to be the center of attention and would do anything to get there, one knew they were bombing, and the last girl was pretty funny. Due the nature of long form improv as opposed to the more common type of improv they got stuck with terrible audience suggestions that they had to use for an hour. Note to performers- next time an audience member suggests a character that has an obsession with clocktowers...keep asking for suggestions. The performance was bad enough that my friends and I didn't even feel like continuing our night afterwords. One of the exchanges between two of the performers lasted about 10 minutes and was so bad and lacking laughs that I almost felt bad for them. The girl in this particular scene about a mutual love of clocktowers knew that they were going down in flames. I must give the guy in that scene credit though, anyone who's job it is to make people laugh who fails to do that even once during the course of an hour yet continues to get up in front of crowds deserve at least some praise for guts.

My only complaint is that the shows NEVER start on time.

Great historic theatre in Providence! We most recently saw The Indigo Girls and Melissa Etheridge…read morehere and it was a sold out show. Even with a full house, there was no line to get in. We were greeted kindly by the ticket scanners and the ushers, and were led to our seats. There are adequate restrooms on both floors and we experienced very little wait time there as well. Our seats were awesome - Front row of the balcony all the way on the left, and the view was perfect. Taking a star off because the sound wasn't very balanced in this part of the venue, but it was still a great show. Seats here are comfortable, the theatre is beautiful, and there is a lot of street parking as well as a lot close by to the theatre. Vets is smaller than its sister theatre, PPAC, and a little more manageable. Great place for a concert or a theatre performance.
