Do yourself a favor and trust the reviews here, look elsewhere for internet. I've had them for years, and I have basically never had a good experience. Their internet is inferior to their competitors in speed - specifically upload speed when it is literally 30x slower - and when your contract ends they double your rate to get you to sign a new contract. I wasn't sure if I was staying in my lease so I could start a new one and they extracted double from me for several months, then when I signed my new lease and wanted to make a new agreement with Comcast they would not work out anything out for a deal on my double rate and my new rate was over 50% more than my old one for the exact same service. They're a terrible company that squeezes small business owners for every penny. I spit on this company. read more

Early January I took my router to the Reston location (hunters woods) and I told them I wanted to cancel my account. They quickly took the router and told me it was all taken care off. Yesterday I got a bill for $300. When I called Comcast , I was never able to actually to an agent, so I drove back to the Reston location and they told me my account was never cancelled!! They said they never received any equipment. They suggested I called their 1800 number to talk to billing. I spent good portion of my morning on the phone , leaving messages, chatting with customer support. Finally I got a call back from them and they told me that my account was still active and I had to pay for January and February months. Why should I have to pay for services not received? This company monopolizes part of the Manassas area. I have a business and they are the only internet company in my buildings i have my offices in. I tried to renew my contract and they screwed it up. When i called to fix their mistake they said the offer they gave me expired and i was stuck with the higher fee for 5 months. Called n February to initiate service, March 1st service tech came out only to find cable burial had not been done. March 15th burial finally done. March 16th tech was supposed to come out and connect service. lied and said no one home and the when confronted said cable burial was not done. Cable burial was done. Finally connected service on March 19. March 20 received a bill for 232 dollars, called and was told that they couldn't help me. Xfinity is a rip off artist. This review is specifically for the local service office of Comcast. Today Verizon came out to install my Verizon FIOS - High speed internet, HD TV, and phone service. After the installation was complete and I verified everything was working properly - I called Comcast to cancel my service with them. I was dreading the call - I was sure they would make it unnecessarily difficult to cancel the service. The gentleman on the phone told me I was supposed to give them a minimum 7 day notice on termination. BUT - if I would drop off the cable box, remote, etc., they would cancel my account as soon as these items were returned. So I immediately jumped in the car and cruised over to the closest service office in Manassas. The place stays open until 6:00 pm - I made it there about 5:40 pm. There were two other ladies in line in front of me - but they were processed quickly. The lady that assisted me - her name was Anna. She was polite and efficient. She scanned the bar code on the cable box, which brought up my account in their system, and then she terminated my service. I asked what my remaining balance was. She checked and told me they owed me a few bucks and would be sending me a refund check. I never had any real problems with Comcast - but they can't compete with Verizon FIOS in terms of the sheer number of HD channels, the higher quality of the HD (less video compression), the higher internet speeds, and the significantly lower costs. In any case, the cancellation process was far easier than I anticipated and for that I am grateful. read more

Every two years, my bill goes up because my "special offer" has expired. We play this game where they find another offer. Today, I spent almost 2 hours on the phone. I was on hold for most of the time. When someone finally answered, she could barely speak English. I was on the phone with her for about half an hour as she tried to understand my bill. Finally, she transferred me to someone else. Again, I was on hold. This man also had a strong accent. After 10 minutes, he said he would transfer me AGAIN. On hold again. At least this time, I got Rob, who (unfortunately for him) bore the brunt of my anger. He was very helpful. read more

I have had the most miserable time trying to reach a human being via their "broken" phone system. I say broken, because it does not properly forward calls. Once I did get to a human being, I was transferred to the wrong department six times. Every single person I have spoken with "Can't help", or refers me to someone else. The last person just lost my call while transferring me, yet again. Now, there's no person, and no call. They don't mind holding me accountable, but they have failed me numerous times. Comcast customers have no power whatsoever. Please be careful signing ANY document, or entering into a contract. They seem to have no memory, and certainly, no ethics! This outfit is a disgrace to the cable television industry. I'm surprised they are even allowed to conduct business. The panels on my television reception have been freezing for weeks and after placing a trouble call today, they tell me they are aware of the problem, and I was never notified. After threating them with a negative review they offered me a credit of a measly amount of 15 dollars - after dealing with this problem for weeks. I've also had problems with sound delay where the sound is not in sync with the people speaking on TV and they gave me some lame excuse that my TV is the problem. Not so! No one knows what is going on, I get different information for everyone I speak with, I've had a manager put me on hold to go find out seemingly simple information requested, half the time no one speaks decent English (which doesn't matter but at least know wtf your talking about). Wow. I almost can't believe I am writing this review. I have been a comcast customer for 5 years. And today I was fed up with my bill. I gave them a call, and reached their call center in Manassas. I said "I have been a customer for 5 years, and I was wondering what could be done to lower my bill" Alix, was very helpful--and after about 10 minutes of her computer thinking, she was able to bill me 25 dollars less a month for the exact same service. While this leaves me feeling over billed before--I am extremely happy the lowering didn't take an act from God or something just as complicated. Comcast cable cuts out every once in a while but works ok, at an average "high" speed. Their mid level management and customer service mentality is terrible. Why? My apartment building (which is wonderful) paid my bill along with five others like they do every month. Comcast credited everything to one apartment and can see the error, but they refuse to reinstate my service until they investigate the problem, which can take 3-4 weeks. They want another payment even though there is one apartment now paid for the next six months. I love comcast and no its not because I have comcast!! I went to visit them because my aunt doesnt speak english so when the nice man answered to my questions he greeted me with the best attitude. My aunt had told me that they always had issues talking to customer service reps at this particular comcast building so she told me to not mind there comments. I asked him about the trouble we had with one of our bills and he said it was no problem that he would get us the help we needed and just to not worry. He went out of the way to help us fix a couple of issues we had with out bill and did it with a smile on his face. He helped us make an appointment to get an additional box installed to her house and he went over the steps we needed to take to install the box if we didnt want the repair man to go by and install it. The rest of the customer service experts there looked at me and smilled and asked who my aunt has talked to before that made her feel like they didnt care about her. She said it was some other women that was there before so one of the ladies there told us that she had been fired because a lot of people complained about her. I think the people here at comcast really do care about each and every customer they have now and in the future unlike verizon (i have verizon) i think im going to switch to comcast . Every time I visit my mom in Gainesville, I have to call customer service. It's impossible to get a live operator. You can schedule a call for the following day so if you want/need immediate assistance you're SOL. On the rare occasion that I've talked to someone, I'm told that my elderly mother will be billed for the call if they trouble shoot the issue. My father in law passed away a few weeks ago at age 92 - we called to cancel comcast and were told they would take care of it and for us to bring the box back. This morning I took the box back. I asked for confirmation that the account was closed. I was told the account was still active and that to cancel an account they need a copy of the death certificate. I went to the Comcast store on 10/9 to sign up for Comcast service because I really hate Verizon FIOS. Actually had gotten all the way to the end of the process and decided not to go through with the account. The young man at the counter said the order was cancelled, but each day since then i have received a notice about my new serve and my new bill. I was going to just ignore but decided to call in on one of their many toll free lines. The gentleman I spoke with said the account in fact was not cancelled- and then he proceeded to push me into a sale. At the end of the conversation he said he cancelled the account under the 30 day guarantee. Today I got another email from them. They found I had a balance for one day of service. Comcast has the worst customer service I have ever seen. After being a loyal customer to them for 15 years and always paid my bill early I started to get extremely slow internet service (4 megs per second, when I was paying for up to 150 megs per second). The first technician could not find the problem, the second stated he found the problem was the main line running into the neighborhood needed to be replaced and a supervisor would get back with me to tell me when that could be done. After months and nothing I call back and they act like it was the first time I called them. They sent another technician out who verified the known problem and said a supervisor would be calling me. I have never received a call from a supervisor. After several weeks I called back and again, they acted like it was the first time they were aware of the problem and offered to send a technician out. When I complained I was not getting the service I paid for they said it doesn't matter if I was only getting 4 megs per second, they were providing service, so the fact I wasn't getting the full 150 megs per second doesn't matter, I had service!! When I went in to return my equipment and they didn't even ask why I was discontinuing service. I went with with Direct TV for television and FIOS for internet and am happy. Where do I begin. My husband and I were trying to save money and thought Comcast would be a better choice; we were so wrong. First, the installation guy was horrible. He was an hour and a half late and was confrontational about it because Comcast offers$20 off if the install person is late. Then he was at my house forever because he was MIA with a friend for an hour. When he came back he was on the phone with a friend talking about how much he hates doing installs in VA. When he finally got around to installing our TV he had called Comcast for help and I overheard him tell them that he can't figure out how to make it HD so he was going to set it up as a regular install. When he did the internet he didn't even check to make sure the computers were working. When I asked him what is our key or password was he said that I was to do it. Anyways I could go on about this guy but I will cut ahead... The pictures of the tore up backyard and box are pictures of how he left my yard and basement. The actual TV service looks like I strapped rabbit ears on my TV and it was 1986 again. The internet only worked on one PC; the others couldn't login because we were given NO LOGIN! We canceled the two hours later. Comcast still sent their line layers out even after we canceled. I was doing my online classes when I hear someone in my backyard banging on stuff. I go outside ask them to stop and state that I do not have their service and I do not want the line, they can take it. Another worker JUMPS and SITS one my wooden fence that I JUST FIXED and insist that I let them. It goes into to an argument and they do it anyways and end up CUTTING MY VERIZON LINE!!!! They said they didn't do it and leave immediately, but I have no internet when I just did before they started. I had to wait and have Verizon come out and relay my line and I had to pay $50 installation to have Direct TV reinstall out TV because the install guy from Comcast cut the wire half way up my house. And finally I come to today when my husband opened a credit collection bill wanting us to pay $90 for the installation or it will be sent to the credit bureau. A collection bill for the crap job that we only had for 2 hours and they told us they had taken care of this fee when we canceled and went to the building to let them know what their service people were doing. After months of horrible internet service I switched to FIOS in May. While turning in my equipment the person behind the desk explained I would receive a final bill. I received a bill dated June 1 for $53 that stated the due date was June 22. I received another bill dated June 7, for $53 stating it was due immediately. I then received a collections notice from a collection agency dated June 20 for the $53. Really? Is comcast that desperate for money that they send you to collections BEFORE the actual due date of the bill? I have filed a complaint with the BBB. I will never use comcast again, ever. read more

Waited for them to open being the secnd or third person waiting, but since i didnt wait right outside against the door and instead used my comfortable car seat ended up being like tenth in line when they reopened.. When the store reopened post lunch break i had expected to see one person working the counter... Nope.. Three.. I used Comcast for about four years for my Internet service. I had spotty service during peak times and if it is down, they don't let me know so I have to ring them. I had to call five or six times. It's pretty much a nightmare when I call about a problem with the modem, but the customer service agents make me feel that I don't know what I'm doing, even though I do know some things. Gypsies Tramps and Thieves, if you have an option to Comcast use it. They added extra equipment charges that were supposed to be free. They screwed up my last upgrade and I had to spend 3 hours with the tech department to get it figured out (they coded the update wrong) and finally only one set has full capabilities, the other two have 1/2 the channels. Now it will cost an additional 20/mo for more equipment to have the others TV's work Quite a Rip Off. Never had this problem with Time Warner Cable. Now Comcast wants to buy TWC? Yelp really needs a no stars option. Comcast spelled my last name wrong. Its four letters long and they flip flopped two of the letters. Simple mistake, no problem. Those happen. Easy fix right? Oh no, not with comcast. So the website directs me to use the chat feature. So I did. Thus started my adventure in inter-continental chatting. The chat went something like this: me: You spelled my name wrong. You have XXXX it should be YYYY Manpeet: I'm sorry. I understand your frustration but I can't fix it. me: OK, who can? Manpeet: You will have to go in to a store with ID. me: I'm not trying to change the account owner. You guys just entered my name wrong. Manpeet: Yes, but the FCC wont let us cange that. me: That makes no sense. Manpeet: You can only get your account information updated in store. me: You're telling me we can put a man on the moon but there exists nowhere outside of the store someone who can correct your mistake? Manpeet: No you have to go into the store. Me: I didn't go into the store to open the account, or add services, there has to be someone who can do it. Manpeet: No you have to go into the store. I can't do it. Me: I understand that YOU cant do it, but there has to be someone who can. Can you Tranasfer me, do you have a phone number, can I email someone? Manpeet: No, there is no one. This went on for like 20 minutes. Manpeet kept refusing to transfer me to his supervisor insisting that the supervisor "follows the same procedures that he does and so couldn't help me." He finally transfered me to his supervisor. Shockingly his supervisor was not bound by the same FCC restrictions that he was an was able to fix the problem in just a minute or two. I havn't been able to actually confirm the changes yet, but assuming it was done, I spent 30 minutes in chat to get my name corrected. What is wrong with comcast. Once my contract is up I am so done with these people.I would literally rather go through an IRS audit than deal with this company. If I did my job the way comcast does theirs I would be fired. It blows my mind. In the 18 months I have been stuck with comcast I have not once had a positive interaction with anyone other than the technicians that come to my house. They must be contracted becasue I'm pretty sure at this point that comcast only hires employees that have some mental defect that actually forces them to provide the worst possible customer service in any given situation. Comcast should be paying its customers to deal with thier crap instead of charging me outragouse amounts of money to have t deal with a company that should be forced out of business by how horrible they treat thier customers. Then after waiting for them to get my bill correct and receive the credit, I called them to tell them and the office claimed that they don't have that promotional offer. Comcast is a joke. You sign up for a package which should be a set amount each month but the amount fluctuates month to month even without ordering movies or changing your service. It is never the amount it is supposed to be. They then increase their rates without telling you and you're just supposed to pay or disconnect your service and pay the fees associated with that. The service sucks as well. On demand doesn't work most of the time or when it is working, it jumps around. DO NOT EVER GET COMCAST.
