The only reason Comcast gets even one star from me is Yelp won't let me proceed with my review unless I fill in something in the stars field. If possible, I'd give this company a minus 10. Their customer service reps and technicians know nothing. We live in Maryland about 35 miles from Baltimore. We've been Comcast customers (cable TV only) for the past 25 years and, starting about three years ago, we've had off and on headaches with our service. Not a week has gone by since then when we haven't needed to reboot the cable box at least once. If it isn't one problem, it's another. Our most recent problem has been the inability to access On Demand with the error code VM-16, which doesn't even appear on Comcast's list of a million and one error codes. We had given up on phoning customer service because, when the problems first began about three years ago, they sent a technician to the house who said the problem was our cable box (Scientific Atlanta). He switched it for a different box (Cisco) and assured us that would fix everything ... it did not ... all the same problems persisted. Three months later, another technician came to the house and said the problem was defects in sections of our indoor wiring that run from the cable box to the outside of the house. He replaced those sections and assured us that would fix everything ... it did not ... the problems persisted. We lived with them, rebooting at least once a week, every week, often more frequently (because what's the point of calling Comcast for help?!), until five days ago when we couldn't get into On Demand, no matter how many times we rebooted. This (error code VM-16) had been going on every day for the past two weeks but rebooting fixed it (until the following day when we had to reboot again). Then, when rebooting no longer helped (albeit only temporarily), I phoned customer service who said the problem was an out-of-date cable box (sound familiar???), we needed to upgrade from Cisco to X1. I told her we have cable service only with Comcast ... no Internet, no phone (although I shouldn't have needed to tell her that, she was looking at our account on her computer screen and should have known it on her own). She said it didn't matter, the X1 box is what we need. I made an appointment for a technician to come out the following day. When he arrived, he contradicted the customer service rep, said the X1 box is only for customers who have either cable and Internet or cable, Internet and phone service with Comcast. He said our existing Cisco box is the only box for cable only customers. So he switched out our box for another Cisco box in his truck and inspected all the wiring, inside and out. Because he said he noticed what looked like slight gnawing marks on a section of the outside wiring in our backyard, he ran a temporary cable above ground until an outsource company could come around to replace it with the permanent buried cable, which happened yesterday. With the new Cisco box and the temporary cable, everything was perfect for those three days. But, within a couple of hours after the temporary outside cable had been replaced by the permanent cable, On Demand started acting up again and, so far, we've rebooted three times in order to get and keep access to it. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before rebooting no longer helps again. We definitely have a problem somewhere but no technician at Comcast can find it, much less fix it. In Googling the VM-16 error code, I've found other Comcast customers' recent complaints about it, too ... and they have the X1 box, which the technician who was here the other day told me never has any of the problems we've complained about, including the VM-16 error code. One Comcast employee (supposedly) stated on one of the message boards that, in older homes (ours was built in 1988 ... I don't know whether this is what he/she means by older), the wiring is old, which Comcast can't do anything about, and he/she suggested having an electrician inspect the wiring for a possible faulty coaxial cable that needs to be replaced. So now my next step is to email our electrician for his thoughts ... but I still say the problem lies with Comcast and the idiots there can't find it. The only reason we haven't dumped Comcast is Fios isn't available in our town and we don't want the satellite dish with either Dish TV or Direct TV. Never in my life have I encountered a company as grossly incompetent as Comcast. The only thing they're good at is jacking up their rates every time you turn around. Addendum) Per Comcast employee (ComcastElla) on August 06 2019 on a message board ... error code VM-16 has been removed and customers shouldn't be seeing it. VM-16 indicates an issue with the Metadata and the backend server (whatever they are). Per Ella, re: error codes CL-14, CL-17, VM-16, each customer account must be individually checked so please contact Comcast for help. SERIOUSLY??? Our account has been checked ... SO NOW WHAT??? read more

Here is what happened: I was visited by Xfinity sales Rep at my home. I reluctantly agreed to switch my Cable, Internet and Phone service to xfinity. Mr. Fernandez made a promise/guaranty that he would personally ensure a smooth and flawless installation and that he would be personally available to help if anything goes wrong. Before signing the service application I emphasized to him that having a good Wi-Fi coverage throughout the house (no dead zone, etc.) and trouble free phone service (for all 11+ phone sets and multiple wall plug-ins in our home and no statics/noise, etc.) would be critical. I clearly mentioned that I had a "landline" phone that is our primary phone and I like to have it transferred (mainly for cost savings) in addition to the VOIP line (that I use for my fax and back up). The installation date was 12/29/17 (before New Year weekend). The installation occurred as planned and at the end our 3 TV sets, and Internet was functioning fine. However, in testing the phone lines I realized our primary residence phone # was not working. The technician spent some time and after contacting his support center advised me that my service included only one VOIP line (that was our backup/fax line). I was surprised how this could happen when I had made it very clear that switching our land line was so important and I had authorized the transfer from previous provider (since I wanted to keep the same phone #). After spending 30+ minutes call center support rep said I had to arrange for transferring the 2nd line separately and directly. At that point I called the regional sales rep to ask for his assistance. His phone did not answer and I left a voice mail and followed by a text. I was so angry that I asked them to cancel my new service and restore my old service. Both the technician and call center rep said they could. However neither one advised me they could not restore my old service and I had to manage that directly. Obviously cancelling a critical service (phone and internet -before New Year Holiday and long weekend) was so important that not advising me of how cancellation works and what the impact would be was a gross negligence and extremely poor service by Xfinity. More disturbing was when I found that technician just got in his car and drove off without saying a word or good bye. I spent 90 minutes trying to call customer support and finally spoke with a rep (Jennifer) and then a shift supervisor (Mo). I explained the situation and mentioned my wife had a medical procedure that day and we expected a follow up call from hospital and her doctor that eve; hence having working primary residence phone line was critical. More so because my wife had a tentative surgery appointment for Tuesday (first day after New Year Holiday and not being able to receive a call from hospital was a serious problem. After 20 minutes wait the supervisor told me that he could schedule a technician for next day (7:30 a.m. Saturday) but technician would only restore the basic service (one TV, possibly one line not triple play plan that I had signed up for) and the full service restoration required additional appointment or work that could be done from the central office. The new technician came on time next day enabled our internet, basic cable and internet (when I had signed up for top level service and fastest speed, etc.). He said the 2nd line (missed land line would be transferred within 5-6 days. This tells me that the request to transfer that line was initially in the work order. Otherwise they would not be able to switch it without my authorization. Today has been a week since xfinity screwed up our lives and holiday weekend and basically cut our line of communication with hospital/doctor (they primarily called us on home phone). In my face book, tweeter, BBB and Consumer Affairs postings I have cautioned potential customers of Xfinity about: o Not trusting the false and meaningless promises of xfinity sales folk. o Reviewing the work order detail and ensuring it is what they want before allowing xfinity technician touch their current service. o Planning to spend 2-3 hours (after service installation) on the phone to ensure the service is working as it should since there is strong possibility something is not done right. o Do not believe the internet speed the sales rep demonstrates on his phone. A bill for $366.33 was due on 3/24/2020. I have a confirmation email as of 3/13 for a payment for $356.33 for acct: xxxx54115 using bank acct: xxxx5820 that my payment was confirmed. After sometime I notice the funds did not come out of my savings acct, so I called Comcast billing dept and I was told the payment made with my checking account did not go through. I advised the Rep I spoke with, named Obi, that the account was a saving acct not a checking acct, but would that be an issue because I use the acct to pay other bills and don't have issues? He said no that wouldn't be a problem and tried to process the payment again. The payment did not go through so he said he'd reach out to his supervisor for assistance. He came back on the line and said his supervisor approved him to use a different routing number they found ending in 89341 for my bank. I advised them that is not my routing number and that the routing number for my bank could even be found the the banks webpage. He advised he'd try it anyways and when he did process the payment with that routing number the payment went through. I did not believe the payment would be approved again after already being denied twice so I went and made a cash payment in store on 3/22/2020 for $400.00. I have gone in store to make my payments every month since this issue and every dept I speak with refusing remove the payment block that was applied to my account since. I spent 2 hours on the phone today 6/7/2020 speaking with a rep who said she was creating a ticket to have the block removed, then I was transferred to Nick who stated the block removal was being processed under ref# E55, before having my call dropped and Comcast rep John F who states to be a manager of the technical dept call me back. I have repeatedly said I have a card not associated with the blocked acct that the pmt could be processed under. I am still being told to make an instore pmt even though stores are boarded up due to protest and rioting of George Floyd's murder. The electronic payment block needs to be removed from my account and if the calls are actually recorded as they say they are, then the calls associated with my acct should be reviewed to proved I made it clear the account used for the pmt was from a saving account and the payment was processed anyways by the rep I spoke with. I will be reporting this issue on ever platform I can because this is a disgusting form of treatment for Comcast clients especially during COVID restrictions. I work from home and this is jeopardizing my job. Per my second call today I was transferred twice now. Once to a girl who stated she would speak with her supervisor about the steps required to remove the block and placed me on hold the a rep named Sal from the billing dept answered and said the call was transferred w/ no information. I had to repeat my self again after being on the phone since 3:30pm only for Sal to tell me the system is not allowing her to process a pmt. I work from home and this is jeopardizing my job. I was transferred to Bryneesha who states the acct is noted that I need to call collections at 855.484.1525 to pay my acct in full (current bill is not due until 6/22/2020) even though I only owe for the current month bill that was due 5/22/2020 for $117.00. Which I am trying to pay with a brand new card not associated with the bank account on file. I hate the company and will be spreading the word read more

I can't even really give Comcast 1 star but I guess i'm forced to. Comcast is the worst company I've ever had to deal with. I don't even know how they are still a functioning profitable company. 1. we had an contract set up for a installation date. It was canceled due to the fact that there was a previous customer at that address before my purchase that didn't pay his bills... I was told 24hrs in advance that I was to retain my original deal if i went to verify my identity. I was also told by the supervisor that i had to verify my identity at a store. I was not able to email in multiple forums of identity and provide a proof of purchase. 2. The closest store to me is 6 hours away so i drove 6 hours to ensure that my vacation rental would have internet for future customers to be told that they don't have access to other districts. I went to the DMV area and TN/AL was were my vacation rental was located. After asking to speak to the manager the manager told me the same thing. So i asked to speak to someone higher and the district manager came out and verified my identification. I was suppose to get a follow-on call to get my previous deal that i had and was suppose to get a call from the district manager located in TN/AL. 3. I never get the call from the district manager. The following day i called Comcast to try to figure things out. During this time they notified me that my identity has been verified. I never received the call from the district manager. At this point they would not honor my original deal and said that the deal has expired and now there's the new offers. The old deal I had was a better deal so I kept trying to keep Comcast on honoring their word. The funny thing about this is all this was recorded on the voice recordings per each phone call beside the conversation that i spoke to the district manager about who had send an email so there's written proof of that. However Comcast would not listen to the voice recordings to honor their word and said it would take 72 hours to listen to it and that this is what they can currently offer. 4. Long story short i can't start business with a company that has literally lied and made empty promises from the start. This is also 2020... i believe you can verify identities in multiple of ways. Not just that a title transfer done by the mortgage and title company requires a magnitude of information that can prove an identity which simply requires a phone call to the government. This is laziness on Comcast part putting responsibility on a willing to paying customer. read more

i am most disappointed with comcast. i pay over 500 bucks a month for two homes. the service reps are nice, but their billing system sucks. if you are charged 900 bucks in error, then you should receive a 900 dollar credit. i can not get a single person since august 2017 to correct my bill. the president of the company has nothing to say to the 22.3 million customers?? i have been with these folks since the 70s, and now i am done, in New Mexico, USA, infrastructure is substandard, legacy equipment gone wild, and not one agent can get my bill right. so i am getting an attorney and sue them for intentional distress, continued disruption of service, FRAUD, BY VIRTUE cant get your billing corrected. Anyone want to start a class action lawsuit with me?. i am done with unlawful billing, which is fraud, cant get a credit for the fraud, and do not receive service as promised. they charge me for an internet boost can only get 16mg, when paying for 100 mg ÷ our service goes out weekly, and i have security, internet, phone, voip, and preferred hd, nothing works. Any suggestions. any takers on class action lawsuit. my mom is in hospice, and my phone never works, which is a critical contact concern. So now after consolidating to one provider, buying all their security equipment, i am out of pocket thousands, your thoughts thank you. I've got o bone to pick with Comcast and their trained 'Bullies'. It took me 3 days and multiple attempts via email, chat and phone to get someone to agree to terminate my service and business. This shady ass company has trained bullies to pick you apart when you try to leave and won't just do as you ask. I've been a Comcast customer for several years and have allowed Comcast to just take my money. I noticed a few months age my charges went up approximately $56.00 per month for no apparent reason. I contacted Comcast and was told that because I was no longer under contract that they increased the prices. I asked why would you increase a loyal customers price when you already have their business and are collecting from them each month and not give them anything in return? I also asked Comcast to search deep and see what you can do for me or I'll have to shop around. I was told that they couldn't give me the price I've paid for the past few years and it would still be $20 dollars per month more. I told Comcast at that time I would be searching the competitors offers. Comcast said, okay! It's been nearly 2 months and I found myself in a position to take advantage of a great offer from a competitor and so I did. I've tried every method possible to contact the 'SHARKS' to stop my billing, close my account and send me a final bill for 3 solid days! This place knows how to stretch your bill along! I finally got a hold of a lady today and was very clear to her upfront, I told her; I don't want your sales pitch, I've bagged up your equipment and I just want you to stop service and send me a final bill. I'll bet you can't GUESS WHAT SHE DID.... started her damn sales pitch. I wanted to choke her ass through the phone. I HOPE SOMEONE IN COMCAST CORPORATE READS THIS! I will not pay your final bill of 6 days being it took me several days just to get you to agree to stop billing me! I will take legal action if you pester me with your BULLSHIT! I will also consider starting a CLASS ACTION PETITION for all of the people who have been charged an extra 2,3 or 4 days of service because you simply won't cancel service as requested. I believe this is a way Comcast has identified how to take more hard working Americans money. I won't stop short of causing you grief and hell for you have caused thousands, possibly millions of people grief and hell. #classactionagainstcomcast read more

I kept getting phone calls to "Call Comcast" but since I didn't have an account I ignored them - not a good idea. About 3 weeks of being bombarded with calls someone called me from Comcast asking me to call him back. I did and told him he has the wrong person - I don't have a Comcast account not do I live where the Comcast service was located but in another part of the state. So he report my phone number associated with a fraudulent account - NO! So about 3 weeks later I start getting more phone calls to "call Comcast." When I googles the Santa Fe, New Mexico Comcast location to get a "local" number to talk to a Local Supervisor the 800 number is another one of there general numbers that routs me out of the US. So I explain to the women on the the phone my problem and ask for a supervisor - she put me on hold - keeps coming back asking me more information - puts me on hold again and again saying she is "locating a supervisor." Meanwhile while I am hold, I go on Comcast "Chat" and explain the situation to that person and he gives a Fraud phone number 800-565-4329. I hang up with the other phone assistant which was of NO HELP (Should have gave me the phone number in the first place). The Fraud Comcast phone assistance took all my information and said he would my phone number removed from the fraudulent account it was associated with. I said, Great - send me a email confirming the action has been done. He said he can't! So I have to call back in two days to see if my phone number is not attached to a phone number. Meanwhile the the ass whole who took my phone number has had 2 months of free cable/TV or whatever services they have. If I would have call Comcast when I got the first call from Comcast the Ass Hole would have had his Comcast service turned off sooner. So don't ignore calls for service you don't have - you don't know whose using your information fraudulently. (PS. Comcast didn't ask for my Social Security - or a credit card number - never give that information out - be careful too) read more

Took me a bit to write this review. A couple of weeks ago I called to add cable to my internet, the first guy I spoke with made it sound like I was getting a really good deal with over 100+ channels and it would cost me less then what I was paying for just my internet. When he told me that I said sign me up!!! Went to the Comcast store and picked up my equipment, took it home and hooked it up. Once I started to get it working I was searching through the channels and MOST channels that any normal person would watch were not available with the "Basic" package. They were all crappy channels that I nor anyone I know would ever care to watch. I called them back and spoke with a different guy who tried to explain everything to me and at that point I was ready to cancel the entire deal and I had only had it for 20min. He transferred me to a customer support lady who I spoke with for a long time and she explained everything better then the 2 guys I spoke with. She told me there was a deal that was a little bit more then what I was paying that would provide me with the channels I was wanting and I agreed to it, however when I received the text for the link and reviewed the confirmation I noticed this time there was a 2 year contract and there was NO WAY I was going to be in a contract and pay $230 to cancel it if I didn't keep it. So in speaking with the lady for over 2 hours she was very kind in explaining to me why the other package I was offered was going to cost more .... because there was NO CONTRACT. I agreed to continue with it because I refused to be in a contract and the lady was very very very nice. I wish I knew her name because she deserves a raise. She was professional, understanding, caring and knew what she was talking about unlike the other people I spoke with. The 2 guys I spoke with need better training and rating them would be a 0 on knowledge and explanation. This lady is why I gave 5 stars. read more
