Dropped a dress off on 11/20/24 for alterations. During this appointment, I let the seamstress know that I may need to cancel this alteration and would let them know as soon as possible. She acknowledged this and agreed to let her know ASAP due to them being on a holiday break from 11/21-12/2. Not even 24 hours later, I called and left a voicemail to cancel the alteration. I called again on 11/22 and left another voicemail to ensure my message was received. I received a text 11/22 from the business that my message was received, and I could pick up my dress on 12/3/24. I went to the establishment on 12/3 to pick up my *unaltered* dress, only to find out the seamstress was actively altering it... Ben (co-owner?) confirmed that the text I received acknowledging my request to cancel was not automated. Ben only offered to refund me for the dress ($99) when I paid $185.44 for the alterations. Finally, Ben agreed to refund me for the alterations but not the dress. I am still awaiting the refund for the alterations. Neither staff member was apologetic for this mistake, and I'm now out the cost of the dress -- that was going to be returned but now cannot due to their mistake -- because they couldn't be bothered to correct it. They did not offer to return the dress either. TLDR: Columbus Alteration Co. acknowledges the request to cancel w/in their policy timeframe and alters dress anyway. They are not apologetic whatsoever and make little offer to amend this. This dress was to be returned to Birdy Grey as it was no longer being worn and now I am out that cost due to their mistake. read more

This company is very professional, schedules appointments ahead of time so you get in and out quickly and their prices are very reasonable- a great value! The service I needed was having a hard dozen pairs of pants altered. They handled it in short amount of time. I will definitely go back to them. read more

My girlfriend and I have had numerous sport coats and suit jackets tailored here. I've had nothing but the best quality and service when I stop in. I will definitely recommend if someone asks me for a local tailor. The price is fair and the quality is perfect. I've received compliments on how well my jackets fit. I've only done walk-ins and I've had no trouble getting good and timely service. They also text you when your clothing is ready. read more

I'm happy to say my first experience was very smooth and easy. I will be heading back next time I need alteration work done. I can say the work is very well done despite just needing a simple hem. They allow you to schedule a fitting but also take walk-ins. I just needed a simple hem so I opted for a walk-in. They were able to get me in and out in a few minutes and the week lead time was quick enough for me. Pricing is fair and comparable to the area. Convenience is the name of the game at Columbus Alteration Co. Ben and Shann really understand their customers, and they do a great job with alterations. Here's what I'm loving: *They answer Yelp messages in about an hour (or less!). *You can book an appointment online, and they have loads of flexibility. *They have a nice, centrally-located shop in the Discovery District, and there's plenty of free parking. *They can do same day or next day alterations. Normally they take a week. *Prices are really reasonable, especially with the high quality of work. *You can get a text when your garment is ready to pick up! My only tip is that GPS can get you a smidge turned around because of all the construction going on. Other than that, everything is easy peasy. read more

This place is never open when they say they are. They pick and choose when they want to close early and it still says open. Wasted my gas driving there 40 mins this isn't the first time. Save your gas and energy and time and go some place else with guaranteed hours. Can't say you close at 6 then be closed by 4 or 5. Be clear and mindful of others. read more

From the customer service to the quality, this place is awesome! I have gotten 5 pairs of pants hemmed here as well as a zipper repaired (so far). Their pricing is very fair and service is quick. I also love that they accept credit cards and send text messages when your order is ready. Their location is a bit difficult to find - signage isn't great. They are in one of the businesses in the long red brick building just before the road bends. Park in the back and you'll see their door. read more

Shann is truly a talented seamstress! My son had two Christian Dior wool suits that were given to him but in need of alterations. Shann did a fabulous job of altering the ENTIRE suit! Both suits required extensive alterations. Despite being busy, Shann had both suits done within a week and they look amazing on my son! I was out the door for a little less than $200 total...a steal for two like-new wool suits! The store is easily accessible (despite construction in the area) and they have ample off-street parking. I love to support local businesses and this company is one I would go out of my way to trust with my alteration needs. read more

My appointment was cancelled same-day and I was told they wouldn't be able to alter my dress in time for my event. I would have expected to have been notified when I created the appt 2 weeks prior so I could have found another place. Now I'm scrambling to find anywhere to go. I understand times are tough but poor customer service is still not acceptable. Would not recommend. read more

If you are in dire need of a quick hem or fitting, please call these guys. They squeezed me in when I was in a pinch and were 100% professional. They keep everything very structured and organized so no one is waiting forever (it's a tiny little place). The location is a bit hard to get to due to construction but other than that I have no qualms. read more

Amazing service and very well priced. I had a bridesmaids dress that needed alterations while I was 5 months pregnant. They were very accommodating to get me in, size and then double check as the day got closer. The fact that they were so helpful is obviously enough, but when you compare their prices AND their costumer service the value is unmet. Will definitely be back for more in the future. read more

The guy at the front is a dickhead. If you want friendly service I suggest looking elsewhere. We called in advance to make sure they can fix one of this board shorts for a bodybuilding competition. We are here visiting so we took a 20 dollar Uber to get there because they told us they could squeeze us in. We get there my boyfriend a disabled veteran was desperate to use the restroom and he turned us down and told us he couldn't allow him to use his "private restroom" his response was "don't pee outside my business". We ignored it my boyfriend went to the back to get them fixed and she said "I can't do what you want" it'll be a half ass job. It was just a disaster they were rude and careless good luck with these idiots! read more

Had a suit tailored and a coat repaired here. Ben and Shann are both great. Fantastic communication, pricing, and customer service. Shann did great job with both the suit and coat, even going so far as to to make the repairs to the coat look as they were originally part of the coat's design. Would never recommend taking anything here. I paid over $200 for a bridesmaid dress that ultimately looked TERRIBLE! I got it home and tried it on, only to realize the hem/stitching had fallen through. I called to let them know and sent them pictures. 5 minutes later they blame ME for a "snag". This place is EXTREMELY overpriced and the quality is terrible. Will never use their services again. I recommend anyone looking to get anything altered to find someone/company that is worth the money you spend. If I could give this 0 stars, I absolutely would. Terrible terrible customer service. I'm extremely impressed! Although it was slightly more expensive than other places I have gone, it was totally worth it. They are a very small store and were able to immediately help pinning my clothes upon arrival. They texted me reminders when my stuff was ready for pick up and the tailoring on a dress and pair of pants is PHENOMENAL...you absolutely cannot see where new stitches were made and I'm very impressed.
