This store is odd. Came in 10 minutes before they closed and pushed aside their rude carts blocking entry to the store. Told employee I didn't need any help and knew what I needed. The still followed me around and tried to make me hurry up. I purposely visited at the time I did because I wanted to get in and out fast. I don't need the employees harassing me unless it's is 7:01 pm. Used to the be the best Ace in the area. Now easily the worst. They also send out scam coupons and don't let you use it if the item is on sale. Stupid policy when just about everything in the store is on sale. The best solution is to do what I did. Walk out leaving hundreds of purchases on the checkout counter for them to void and go to Lowes! read more

This location, as all locations, is spot on with customer service. They have a little of everything. Today I needed some boxes and really didn't want to navigate the gauntlet at the local big box hardware store. These nice folks greeted me the second I walked in and I was on my way inside of three minutes. The clerk mentioned a rewards program, but didn't provide any details. I just want to inform you that your employee named Roger who works at the Columbine Ace Hardware in the plumbing/irrigation department is a very rude and unprofessional individual. It is never appropriate to yell at customers because they do not agree with his unsolicited "advice." I have informed my employees to avoid this location at all costs. I have never been treated in such a demeaning manner by a store employee. I did not ask for his assistance, I did nothing worthy of being chastised by a random employee of your establishment while i am heading to the cash register with the item i needed. I have worked in irrigation for over 15 years and am fully cognizant of what parts/pieces I need. What happened this afternoon was incredibly unprofessional behavior of an employee from your establishment. Having shopped there many times in the past, i am very disappointed with how your employee treats people who actually work in the industry. I was checking out tonight and the employee asked to look into my purse. I let her look in and she said "yeah I figured there was nothing". Im like what does that mean? She said "we have had a lot of thefts lately". I'm mid 40's year old woman, married with kids and have NEVER been asked this in my entire life, EVER!!!! I'm so offended and it was so rude. Our family will NEVER shop here again and will go out of my way to make sure not to shop here. I actually went into Ace tonight to look at a $1,000+ grill for my husbands birthday next week. Figured I would need to come back when I figured exactly which ones I wanted to purchase. I bought something with a coupon and my ace reward phone number and after that she asked. What kind of thief uses coupons and gives you the Ace Reward phone number first and then asks to look ?! Clearly I will NOT be shopping here EVER AGAIN! Just left there. Wish I had gotten the names of the two folks, man & woman who helped me find an O ring for my lawn sprinkler system. Turns out that the lord intended O rings to me many shapes and sizes, very many. This woman went the extra mile, found what I needed, and wonders of wonders, I was able to install it and the leak stopped. This is in the middle of a pandemic. Thank you so much for your help. Man, these guys are my go-to when I have a DIY project. I've wandered around Home Depot and it's really difficult to track someone down to ask a question. Here, they will take time and help you problem solve. The staff is helpful, especially for confused guys like me. Me: Duhhhh, this Mango's phone. If Mango show you picture of toilet, can you show Mango how to fix? Them: Yes, sir! Let me grab Steve. He's our plumbing expert and he'll take you through the whole process. I do not want to come back here again. While looking for a bat box, I found that this shop would sell them, and I thought it would be interesting to try another ACE store that I had never been to before. While doing research on the internet, I saw that the ACE website offered the bat box for $32.99. When I selected the store, the price changed to $33.99, which I found odd. After arriving to the store itself, the price was $34.99. I told the employee that the price was different on the website, but she didn't respond. When paying, I requested her to update the website, but her response told me that she couldn't care less. The reason why I wouldn't want to come into this store is how I was treated upon bringing up the price difference, as well as how I was generally treated in the store. Just when I found the bat box (the employees didn't know what it was and couldn't help me, which I found strange. They could at least have been pro-active and looked in their systems!), one employee came to me to tell me that I would have had to leave my bag at the entrance. What?! Why would I trust a stranger with my personal belongings? It was so strange. She also stood there waiting for me to give her my bag. Of course I didn't. I got my bat box, paid, and got out as soon as I could, despite not being done shopping, while being lectured that I shouldn't have had my bag on me and that I would need to give my bag next time I would come shopping. Well, problem solved: I will not come back here, so no need to deal with this anymore. This store made me feel so bad, like I was a criminal. In retrospect, I felt bad that I actually made the purchase. I should have gone elsewhere where people are welcoming. read more

Perhaps, its because I have been going to Lowe's or Home Depot lately. I noticed that Ace store at this location has more knowledgeable and friendly employees. If you go to this store and want "six bolts and nuts" you can buy them. If you looking for large amounts of lumber - then go to Home Depot. The prices are a little higher than Lowe's or Home Depot - but the service is worth it. read more

Pros: Great service and knowledgeable staff- bring in the "thing-a-ma-jig" that you need to replace and they will help you find a new "thing-a-ma-jig" and tell you how to install it. Cons: If it's not on sale, it's probably a little pricey. Or the price will be okay- after a mail in and/or electronic rebate. If it is on sale, it will probably be in limited stock. read more

This Ace Hardware may have won the dispute, but they lost a customer. About 5 days ago we called to buy Penofin, we needed 2-5 gallons. The person who answered the phone said, YES, come on down. So my husband raced there to get the $400 worth of Penofin before closing. When we arrived, they did not have the Penofin we asked about. So he went to another Ace that was open until 8:00 and they had it and we were told we could return unused buckets at any Ace. Well, apparently not. We had our receipt and Ace in Columbine would only give us store credit. $200 store credit, I don't think so. Any Home Depot would give us our money back with the receipt. Hmmmm, small minded manager made the decision for us and we will NEVER step foot into that Ace Hardware again. I hope they are independently owned and that owner knows that the manager that was on duty between 11:15-11:30 on Sunday, June 21st cost him a customer that always shopped there first by winning a dispute about taking back a perfect good, unopened can of Penofin and driving us to now shop at the next closest place, Home Depot. I wonder how many thousands of dollars this will be over the next 10 years, 20 years, 30 years? Hmmm, but at least he won the dispute, so he should be very proud of himself. I only shop where I feel like a person and not just profit. I know profit is important, but small minded people who don't take into consideration future sales do not deserve my business. By the way, we had more shopping to do, so I went to Home Depot and spent more money. read more

They are great here about greeting you when you walk in the door to direct you to the correct aisle. They have some real obscure parts that other hardware stores don't carry. Prices are usually slightly higher than the bigger chain stores but the knowledge, advice and selection of hard to find items are worth it. Highly recommend. read more

I always like Ace, but this particular shop has some excellent people who were able to help us with getting new keys made for a very old lock. The bog box stores just looked at the lock and said, "Maybe try a locksmith..." All the local locksmiths are mobile service only and the cheapest estimate was $40, assuming the lock wasn't too complicated. So, we took the lock to Ace and an employee, I think it was Kelley, re-keyed the lock and made spare copies in about ten minutes for less than $15. Great service. read more
