I called to confirm they stock a specific plumbing item (3/4" MNPT Brass Pressure Relief valve). After waiting on hold two different times, I was then disconnected. Called back and asked for someone in plumbing a third time. That employee confirmed they had 2 of these in stock. Drove up from Castle Rock to purchase the 1 I needed. When I couldn't find any and couldn't find a single employee on the floor, I asked at the register. The employee there looked up the part and told me they don't have any in stock and couldn't tell me when they might be able to get some in. Have held off on this review hoping it would get better, but after the 4th visit of the same experiences, I think it won't. Overall, this store has much less variety and quantity of products compared to other stores such as home depot. Even the essentials are tough to find and often times more expensive. What is truly driving this one start review is that this some of the worst customer service I have ever experience in any industry. Employees are somewhat helpful at best, but I pray that you do not have to deal with their 1-800 customer service line since they give zero cares about your problem and just blame the customer. I went in to purchase their grass seed promotion where you received a free product and even though their computer inventory said they had plenty in stock, they had none of the shelves and wouldn't even check the back. So, I went to buy it online per their instructions (which I did) and then received an email saying it was cancelled. They didn't have the inventory available even though I was able to purchase it online, so instead of just sending it later and saying it was back ordered, they cancelled it "so we don't need to respect the promotion at a future date". I have never been so disappointed or rudely insulted by a company as I have with Ace Hardware. Such a bummer since I would love to support a neighborhood, local hardware store, but they do not deserve the business after so many bad experiences. read more

Live in the area, and have come here since it opened. I have a lot of classic cars, for which I buy the original key blanks. In the past, it has never been an issue to bring my own blank and have them make me a spare key. Obviously, I would expect to pay the same as if I used their stock, and always did. Went it today, and that won't happen anymore. With no explanation, was told that they do not cut outside keys. So, will take me business elsewhere. I have purchased a lot of things here, along with my keys, but no more. I always ignored the fact that they are always higher in price for the same merchandise than other stores, but that won't be an issue anymore. Good bye ACE. FR O.K., quick update....went to another ACE location and they were happy to help me out. Cut my two blanks, they worked perfectly and they refused to accept any payment, even after I offered to pay for the two blanks that they would have sold me. The store is very clean an organized, the entire staff has great customer service all the way up to the managers Jeff and Doug.

Called ahead to make some copies of keys. Was on hold for awhile, but also thought perhaps they are busy with customers or also on the line with other calls. Ok no biggie, then I got cut off, again not a big deal since I was headed that direction anyways to wash my car. Figured I'd wash my new car next door while my keys were being done. I parked and walked into Ace, didn't look that busy at all, saw some staff at the register helping customers, saw at least 3 or 4 walking around and talking. I walked towards the middle of the store, only one approached me and greeted me. He asked if I needed assistance, I asked him politely if they can copy keys and he said yes in the back by service counter. I think he also paged someone for assistance. I went to the back still observed other employees only talking with each other. One employee even stared at me, didn't say anything and walked past me. I waited another 10 minutes at the service counter. No one came, I wasn't mad, just disappointed. What a complete waste of my time and effort. I didn't even want to wash my car next door after that. I simply walked out and drove to another hardware store to get my keys copied. I think it's a nice location but perhaps they need better staff or something. If you are looking for great service and knowledgeable folks, this is a great place to go. The people that work there (Doug, Jim, and all the rest) really go above and beyond to make the experience easy. In addition, they are willing to answer questions, even giving recommendations if its not sold at Ace. I'd say if you need hardware, start with Highlands Ranch Ace. This is BY FAR my favorite Ace Hardware. You can get a screen made for your house, fill your propane grill tanks, get your yard fertilizer and all sorts of things at this place. I have spent many of my lunch hours here for things I need at home. I am pretty sure one of them told me it's the biggest one in the state and the US. It has PLENTY of things that's for sure. I so do appreciate all the services they provide quickly and efficiently. read more

I like supporting neighborhood businesses, but jeez. The service in here is pretty subpar. Employees will see you looking around and not offer help. I've gotten help and received wrong parts on several occasions. On top of that, prices and selection are not great either. I think I'll just go to the big store next time. read more

Never thought I'd be leaving a review for a hardware store but here I am sitting in Ace Hardware waiting for someone to help me. I have talked to three people who have radioed for help but nothing seems to be happening yet. Finally got some help but the first guy couldn't find what I needed so he ditched me off to someone else in a different department. Then that guy said he didn't have what I needed and had to bring me back to the original department. In case you're wondering, I did finally get the part I needed. Should have been five minutes, took about 30. The reason I go to Ace rather than Home Depot is definitely not for price. It is for service. Not happy with this experience. read more

Ordered a 20' Extension Ladder online for home delivery (too large for my car) from my local Ace which is exactly 1 mile away. Order confirmed with delivery date of next day. On day of delivery they ring and say they are fully booked for delivery today but I could pickup - asked them when is next delivery slot as cannot pickup and they gave me 6 days later on the next Saturday. Complained and they said all delivery slots booked ...... yeah right, 1 mile away, 6 days for delivery 1 mile ..... there are reasons why they only have a max 2.5 star rating ............ I took two screens to be repaired and they quoted $70 and 6 weeks. I waited and finally after 7 weeks called and they hadn't done them. They put them as a priority and finished later that day. I went back to pick up and paid, but when I got home only one was done. The other still had a rip in it. I went back and got a refund and then I called Glenn's window screen repair. Skip this place and search for Glenn Harm at HRscreens.com. He did mine in one day and it was $20 instead of $35. You won't be sorry for skipping this place. read more

We normally have a good experience here but not today. My husband received a $10 birthday coupon so we went shopping for lawn supplies. We checked out, handing the cashier the coupon but before leaving the store we looked at the receipt and noticed the $10 hadn't been taken off. We went back to the same cashier, less than a minute later. Another person who appeared to be a manager opened his drawer where the coupons are kept and walked away - not really assisting at all. He couldn't find our coupon even though he had just rang us up. Since he didn't know what he did with it he basically said there was nothing he could do. Horrible customer service. read more

It makes me feel like I've taken a step back in time when someone is always there to ask you what you're looking for or how they can help. Then since I just mentioned interior eggshell, the older gentleman who works in paint picked out the most expensive paint I have over bought. Miserable experience. Bought a Treager Grill this past week. I've wanted one for years and my current smoker broke down. You have to go see Bill in Grills! The guy is a genius, seriously, just try to stump him. I had a remote key for a Honda Van that needed the small battery replaced. The screw that opened the key was stripped. Jim and Mandi at the help desk worked for nearly 30 minutes to get it open and get me a new battery. Their dedication to solving the problem was commendable. Their pleasant demeanor was amazing. I ordered a product online to be picked up through the drive up order picked up because I'm immune compromised. Called the store and was re-transferred back to the order pick up line 4 times (over 5 minutes). Was then told to come into the store and go to customer service, which I did. No one there. Had to ask for a manager to get help. Was told they are busy. Well, someone should be dedicated to the online pick up section. The worst part is the guy that drove up right after me got serviced through the pickup area no problem. From the mess up with my online order to pick up this was a nightmare. Ace the pricy place. But I believe most ace hardwares are individual owned and managed. I've had great experiences at some with very helpful customer service. I've been going to this ace for 8+ years and I was never impressed with the service I got here. I've spent 45 minute waiting for a key to get cut, looking the parts section to spend $5 in a handful of screws. But they seem to get away with charging a %25-%50mark up on all their items. And the service you get doesn't justify it. read more

On Friday 9/9/2016 I browsed the http://www.acehardware.com web site to see if any local stores had R40 infrared lamps available. The store in Highlands Ranch, CO showed several. At the store the Westinghouse lamps (Item 3017829) priced on the web site at $5.99 were marked at $21.99. In looking through the other bulbs offered I saw similar over pricing compared to the web site so this wasn't a one time error. I even had a cashier check the price to see if it was a shelving error. It wasn't. When I asked the sales person if they were going to meet the advertised web price, he said NO. I pointed out that these were not internet only products and were advertised as pick up in store. Buyer Beware. They not only gouge customers but believe it is not their responsibility to meet advertised prices. I complained to Ace Hardware corporate about this store and was told that the Ace Hardware stores are all individually owned so the web site price lookup is only good for online buys...even if you select buy and pickup in store! So zero guarantee that the store will honor the web site info even if you do the stock search and they say its in stock at the store. Small wonder they are not in the same league as Lowes or Home Depot that not only shows stock in individual stores but holds to their prices. read more

This is a great alternative to Home Depot or Lowes. There is also a nice home and gift section of the store that has a nice selection of candles and other decorative items. The nursery area isn't huge but does have a good seasonal selection of merchandise. The staff is always friendly and they seem to try to monitor the checkout lanes so you never have to wait long. The folks in the paint department are also very helpful. Don't forget to get some popcorn in the back and let your kids push their own small carts! read more

I was on a quest to find the perfect green to paint my bathroom. Tried Home Depot first, as they are closer to my house, but none of their paint cards had anything that really spoke to me. I also tried some other places as well, with no luck. Then I thought to try ACE and I'm glad I did. They have sample jars of some of their colors. After three of those, I finally narrowed down my green of choice. Then Linda in the paint department was extremely helpful and talked me through my paint options. I went with the paint/primer combo and also picked up some ceiling paint along with other supplies. Later that weekend, my bathroom was transformed. But, I thought it would look better with white cabinets. On a subsequent trip to ACE, an older gentleman in the paint department (sorry, don't remember his name) was also very helpful in giving me options. And, turns out they have a paint specifically for cabinets, doors, and trim! Another weekend of painting (4 coats for that cabinet) and my bathroom is just about perfect. I like that ACE is a smaller store. Their employees (this time it was mostly the paint department, but also in garden and at check-out) have always been very friendly and eager to help. read more
