We live in an older house in Denver, and the existing ceiling had two layers of drywall plus sections of lathe and plaster (who knows why a previous owner thought that was a good idea). While other drywall companies gave costly estimates and quoted the need of multiple visits back to the house, Brandon gave a competitive estimate and was able to complete the work in a half day, all while working around the existing light fixture, keeping the area clean, and matching the existing ceiling texture. I was completely shocked and disgusted when he said he wouldn't take the job because he dosent think it would enough money. That he has a minimum of 40k to do a job. Then told me to give him a call next year when I have the more expensive job to do. Keep in mind, he didn't even come out to look at my house... which is 4000 finished square feet with 4 large full bathrooms with double sinks! I have received two other bids and we definitely would have met his "minimum". I also let him know, I would never hire him for my kitchen, way too arrogant to come into my home.

The principal team at Original Roots - Paul, Matt, and Brynn - were fantastic to work with. They were extremely experienced, trustworthy, thorough, patient, and were exactly what I was hoping for in a contractor relationship. That can also be said for their carpenters and other sub-contractors. They are all just good people. The project took about a year from our initial consultation to final completion. The actual construction phase was about 4-1/2 months and everything went as scheduled. Matt is a mastermind at getting all of the work scheduled, including permits and inspections; and Brynn kept everything on track with getting products ordered on time. During the initial consultation, Paul explained the process and provided a long list of past projects as references. I spoke with 4 of the prior clients and everyone was extremely pleased with Original Roots. From a cost perspective, there is full transparency from start to finish and no scope increase unless requested - or necessary due to items that could not be foreseen until all of the old walls were down. I did have some initial sticker shock over the contract price, but after getting several other bids for the project, I realized that Original Roots was in alignment with local costs for the same type of full-service renovation. This company showed great pride of workmanship and took care of my space during the project. It felt like moving into a new house when the project was finished. They stand behind their work and do not finalize the close-out payment until everything is perfect. I highly recommend Original Roots and can't wait to do another project. Our master suite bathroom was a typical 5 pieces - large garden tub, small shower, toilet and double sinks. We've been in the house for 10+ years and have used the tub twice - both times was to wash the dogs. It was time for a new bathroom. I called 3 places for bids and one of them was All About Bathrooms. Based on Jim's suggestion we removed the tub all together in favor of a large walk-in shower. The entire process with Jim and crew was painless. We are extremely happy with our new bath room. Our next projects are the remodel of the guest bathroom and the kitchen cabinets replacements which we will call on Jim again. However he then disappeared and stopped replying to any of my emails as I was looking to get further information. We ended up deciding to move forward with another contractor for this project, but I am a bit bummed that David disappeared as he seemed like someone who would do a solid job.

DW General Contractors just finished re-decking our front porch, repainting the trim around the…read moreporch, and repairing our antique front door. David, Aaron, and the rest of their crew were easy to work with from start to finish -- clear communication, very responsive, always on time, no surprises, no excuses. Just quality materials and quality workmanship at a fair price. David really listened to what we wanted and made sure we were fully satisfied. He was patient with us as we hemmed and hawed over details before starting the project ... but he got the job done quickly once we decided. I really appreciate David and Aaron's attention to detail. Despite the old decking being a warped mess and the joists being a bit uneven, they made sure that the new decking is level and that all boards align cleanly. The painting is fantastic as well -- they did an amazing job painting the accent trim, much cleaner lines than the painting company who repainted our house last year. Last but not least, they did an amazing job fixing our front door. Our house is 118 years old. I'm not sure how old the front door is, but probably well over 50 years. The clear-coat had worn off almost completely and the hinges sagged so that the door didn't swing smoothly and didn't latch properly. Aaron and his crew sanded and refinished the entry door and screen door so they look amazing, and re-hung the door so that it swings smoothly and latches easily. I had previously talked to a door contractor and two general contractors, and all of them said the door would need to be replaced. Aaron and his crew took care of it in just a few hours. And we get to keep our beautiful antique door! I highly recommend DW General Contractors and I look forward to working with them on our next project.

I would recommend using a different builder. If I could…read moregive 0/5 stars, I would. We worked with GJ Gardner Denver, specifically Dave P and Jeff V for about 10 mos. We paid them $14,000 as a deposit, but they never delivered on what turned out to be empty promises. I expect that a reputable builder would refund the deposit if they could not successfully submit plans for permit, but not GJ. The plans we paid them to develop were rejected by the city multiple times over the course of several months. The personnel at the city office said they were truly surprised by the incompetence of this group. In addition, we would go several weeks at a time with phone calls not returned- maybe we shouldn't have been surprised, knowing that Dave P works much of the time from his house in Mexico. Our build was going to cost about $700k not including the land, but they treated us as though we were their very lowest priority (who knows, we probably were). In short- I wish we had used a different builder. We found their promises to be empty, and after 10 months of dealing with them, we had to fire them. Unfortunately that's a lot of wasted time and money. I would highly recommend you consider looking elsewhere and be very leery of anything they say. They seem like nice people, but I doubt they cared at all about us, our family, or building our home.

Mike is an excellent communicator and organized very skilled subcontractors to work on my project. My HOA was a pain in the neck, but Mike shepherded me through the barriers they put in our way. There were also challenges due to the Covid shut downs and lack of availability of materials, etc. However, he managed it all beautifully and kept me in loop about progress and optimistic that it would all work out. I was always impressed with the esthetic decisions he made on my behalf. I have recommended him to my closest friends. The final product was beautiful and I couldn't have been more pleased.
