We had a fantastic experience with Colorado Security Company. Recently, there's been a lot of new activity in the alleyway next to our home so we decided we wanted to install a camera to view that area. I got in touch with a few different people at the beginning to schedule a consultation and after just a few days, Brandon came out to look at the space. We came up with a solution to use a camera that would exist in a system we already had, and after purchasing the camera, Bruce came out to install. We did a helpful virtual sales call with Brandon and he talked about the different options they have. Sara was incredibly responsive in some of the follow up questions we had. The day of the install, Eddie was great. He wore a mask and gloves, and was great with the install. He did a really nice job installing it. What I like about this company is they offer two options for monitoring, Brinks and another smaller company that has a little bit better customer service. We choose to go with the smaller company (which I can't remember the name of), and it uses the same alarm.com integration. I would recommend these guys in a heartbeat. Did a nice job. read more

Update: I had to use this review to threaten action on my account, which continued to be charged after service should have been shut off. But the company did issue the refund after about a week. I do wish they'd have called, returned one of my voicemails, or emailed me about the situation, which is why I changed the 1-star to a 4-star instead of 5. I don't even know where to start. The actual story is long given all the sh*t we have had to go through. The owner, Brandon Donovan, was nice enough when we first met him (we never saw him again...) but after our first and only live conversation, he was too busy to call, come out or even be that responsive and when implored with several times to just pick up the phone and call me, he would respond via email that he didn't have time but then proceeded to write paragraph after paragraph in an email of what they could and couldn't do or what they would and or wouldn't do. (If you are really that busy, a call takes less time but it is easy to hide behind the keyboard these days) We should have had our suspicions when the lead tech came out, installed the system and had an issue with one of the cameras. He (the tech) came out a couple of times to correct but decided the night vision was being distorted because of a white wall we had near the camera's view. He came out and changed the location but it still had the issue. He then realizes that he never took the clear protective film off the camera once installed and was being distorted because of it. A few months later, I asked for an additional quote for one more camera and they came back with some exorbitant and unreasonable cost which *lead to our being terminated by CSC. (*If you are a "why child", they won't like you very much and will get tired of the questions they can't apparently answer very well. And unfortunately with me, the more you trigger the BS meter, the harsher conversation gets) This owner has left us with no service and useless equipment and we are looking into action to see what can be done and if it is worth it. Word to the wise, make sure you really want to be stuck with only one option and one service with Alarm.com and if you decide this is the way you want to go, find another provider in Colorado. From our perspective and all that we have gone through, Colorado Security System isn't worth the headache and I would NOT purchase this again if I had the choice - but once you have it - you are stuck! (And on a side note, Sara, their office person, is fantastic and understands what customer service is - she was always responsive and tried to help where she could) read more

I have never had such a rude and incompetent service person in my life. Bruce was completely wrong with his diagnosis of a problem with him "bragging about 25 years of experience ". We have since switched to another provider using the same system who found a separate power supply which had been unplugged which controlled one panel. Bruce replaced the panel two times with a third when he stomped out of the house mad. We assumed he was walking off the job. On top of it the company took his position and refused to provide service calls or help. The new company found the panel was working and only needed the power supply plugged in on the second floor. Needless to say Colorado Security was preventing us from getting adequate service but still charging a fee. read more

Wonderful service. Brandon came over to give me an estimate, showed up on time, and was very professional. The previous owner had an ADT system so the house already had window sensors that could be reused. No upsell on unnecessary equipment. I was given two options on contracts and the language was spelled out clearly. Pay less up front and more monthly for 36 months, or pay full price for the equipment and a lower monthly service fee for monitoring. IDK about them selling the contract to a larger company. Before I signed the contract I was aware that it was Brinks, Colorado Security is a local sub, in my estimation. (BTW, all major banks sell conventional mortgages to Fannie or Freddie, does that mean you won't take a mortgage out with them if they offer the best rate? It's all about the value of the monthly servicing rights: based on the PV (present value) of future CFs (Cash Flows) at a DR (discount rate). Day of instillation Kevin called ahead to tell me he was on the way. Instillation took less time than estimated by Sara. Last week I closed on a house in Five Points and the $50/month I'm paying for service (plus installation) is a small price to pay for peace of mind. I moved from Uptown Square where I had my storage unit broken into 5x and my cars ransacked twice, in a secured garage. And while living in Union Station neighborhood from '14-'16 I had two bicycles stolon from a "secured" garage. I feel much safer now. read more

Purchased our home with a few alarm devices and wanted to add a few more. Called Colorado security to confirm they could add to my system and get an estimate. Owner came out, quoted what I needed and had an installer out within a week. Two items were out of stock and a week or so later they came out and added them to my system. I would recommend them and use again in the future. read more

I Called to set up an intial consultation/meeting. I was very clear on what I was looking for and told it wouldn't be an issue. They sent me an email confirmation with a time window to show. After no one showed, I called 1 minute after the scheduled time. I was then told they wouldn't ve able to do my job. Poor communication. Poor Customer service. It seems they are only looking for easy jobs. I was willing to pay more for the intricacy of my job. Keep looking if you have anything custom. read more

I echo all the prior reviews ("absolutely awesome", "excellent", "super responsive, timely, and personal", "great", "knowledgeable", "friendly", etc.) I called every 4-plus star rated place in the Denver area about a home security/automation solution (I had some unusual circumstances). I spent weeks vetting them. Some were non-responsive and dismissive. Others were annoyingly over-eager, used-car-salesman feeling (calling from 3 or 4 different phone numbers once they figured out I was screening calls). Colorado Security Company was like Goldilocks. (Or maybe her porridge. Or the baby bear's porridge. I forget the story). Brandon and Amanda were incredibly knowledgeable and responsive, answering my (many, multi-part) questions at all hours of the day and night. Ben did a great job on the install. Amanda emailed me within hours of completion offering to reach out to my insurer so I could get my home insurance discount. Just an all around, awesome experience. Here's the deal. Shopping for a security system is hard. It's basically set up (by the big monitoring companies, not the local independent vendors) as a big shell game, to get you to sign a long-term contract. There are "points", there are discounts, there are waivers, there are freebies. But while some local companies seem to relish (or at least to fully embody) the sketchy game, Brandon and Amanda were more genuine, more transparent. It's still the same game (again, the big companies set the rules, nothing they can do about it), but if you're gonna play that game (and if you want home security, you will play it), then Colorado Security Company is the best you can hope for. They're true entrepreneurs who care about their company, their clients, their reputation, their integrity. In sum: if you're the kind of person who hears the pitch, makes a decision, and moves on, then Colorado Security Company is as painless of an experience as you can possibly hope for - just call them, and let the 5-star experience ensue. If you're the kind of person who is going to research and vet and bargain for weeks...then Colorado Security Company is best in breed in the Denver area, and it isn't close. So this review is very late, but with the recent news I figured something needed to be said. We originally spoke with Brandon in 2020 regarding a camera system. He came to our house went through everything and he seemed like a very nice guy. He even talked us into turning our security system on. We purchased the top package at the time. After installation we were having issues with cameras. They sent out a tech who sounded like he knew what he was doing. System never worked correctly. We requested another tech come out, but we're told we needed to pay a service fee. After asking why now we didn't pay for the last service tech's visit. I also stated that our system hasn't worked correctly since the initial install so that doesn't seem right. After going back and fourth Brandon stated either pay or no tech. Since this company is a sub contractor of the top security company we went directly to them. Finally we had someone come out and check our system. The tech that came out to fix after installation apparently messed with the WiFi system and had the cameras fighting each other for the same booster instead of putting them on individual boosters. So our internet provider had to come out and assist the recent tech. Of course we had to reschedule so they could both be here at the same time. Also make sure to ask if the cameras you purchase have the capabilities to install an SD card because if you don't someone like Brandon won't tell you and he will sell you a much more expensive SVR component that you may not need. Because we also found out the SVR we purchased was part of the problem. Oh and we didn't need it because our cameras had SD slots. I regret not doing my research before going with Brandon. Don't make the same mistake.... read more

Sara worked up the quote with me - she took into account our existing system, what was still working and could be integrated into new system, and ultimately it afforded us a very reasonable system for $5 installed! Complete w upgraded control panel and ring bell. My wife was home when Kevin installed it and she was happy w his service, commented how friendly and helpful he was. And each follow-up question has been met with patience and sincere interest to have me understand full usability of my system. I've been using them for a while now and I'm really happy with the service and the product. We had Xfinity before we switched to them and the Xfinity hardware was constantly failing. We had one sensor in the garage stop working on a regular basis and the Xfinity tech told us that this happens in detached garages because of cold weather. What a joke. After spending too long on hold with Xfinity support we decided to switch to Colorado Security Company. We've been using their service for over a year now and never had any issues. We recently relocated from NYC - and when I started coordinating our initial appointment, I had not seen our new home. Everyone I spoke with was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and flexible! Brandon came out, walked me (then my husband) through everything, and I was impressed that when he had opportunities to up-sell us, he didn't. Several times I would have taken his recommendation to add more sensors, and he recommended that we did NOT need more. My husband and I had a deer in headlights look towards the end of the appointment - we hadn't eaten all day, were exhausted from the move, and borderline overwhelmed with all going on. Brandon seemed to pick up on this, and at the end of the appointment was very understanding with my request to call him later so we could talk/think through all he'd suggested. When I called the next day to make our instillation appointment (at 5 Pm), Ben came out at 9 am the next morning. Ben was extremely courteous and knowledgeable, and was wonderful to talk with. He was in my kitchen putting together a large amount of sensors, and we had several good laughs. He walked me through the Alarm.com app, and my husband had to leave for an appointment in the middle of the installation, so Ben showed me exactly what to do to finish my husbands portion of the set up. I really appreciated his patience - I asked probably quite remedial questions, and asked for him to repeat several steps so I could figure out the app with him there. Update: I made my first review just after Colorado Security installed my new security system, at their request, having no idea the trouble lurking ahead. The system was constantly alerting my husband and I via text that our systems were offline. Yes, sounds confusing?? We had no idea either. I have never had so many problems and have used mostly ADT before this. Our new security system was sending alerts to us 10 to 20 times a day. Because Colorado Security obligated to us under a one year warranty contract they were required to come back to service my unit at no cost. Well, because they did not set it up correctly the first time each time they came came back it never resulted in our security unit being fixed. After a year, when they were no longer obligated under their warranty contract to come and service my unit, that was still not working properly after many attempts, made up an excuse as to why they could not come back to help me even though when I called their office assistant to make an appointment they had plenty of appointments. After the appointment was set, the owner called me back and said his office assistant did not know what she was doing and that for a non-warranty appointments (even though it was pre-exsisting) they were set up differently and that the time she gave me was not available. He said it would be at least 2 to 3 weeks. I was not pleased with that answer but my hands were tied and I was totally frustrated that this had been going on for a year and it was still not fixed. A security system is installed to protect your family, not drive you nuts with false readings resulting in annoying alerts 10 to 20 times a day. I did call another company that MONI, my monitoring company, suggested and it was the best thing that could have happened. When the owner of the company came out to the house he could not believe all the mistakes Colorado Security had made. It was obvious to him that by placing alarm sensors for water and fire by vent returns was going to cause them to think there was a problem in the house sending a false alerts to our phone. We never knew while we were away if these alerts were truly a problem or not. Thank goodness for friendly neighbors. I am happy to link a picture or all the false reports sent to me over the year if someone needs proof or if Colorado Security denies these claims. Since this new awesome company came out and made these simple adjustments we have not had ONE false report. FYI: The guy form Colorado Security that initially installed our entire system is their head installer. BEWARE! They claim to specialize in larger homes. That is laughable because my system is set up to be a 2 way talk system with the monitoring company when the alarm goes off. This clearly would not work if your 2 way talk system is placed at least 2000 square feet away from where we sleep. REALLY? Colorado Security did not have enough sense to let us know the best place to install the 2 way system where it would be most productive. I had to pay for an additional unit so we had two. I would have been happy make that choice in the beginning had I known the deal. I am the customer....they are the professionals; aren't they the ones that are supposed to assist you with those kinds of important decisions? The owner cut me a deal on the second security board (gee, thanks!) I would never recommend Colorado Security Company to anyone wanting a new system that is reliable and installed correctly in their home. So disappointing from beginning to end. read more

We just had Colorado Security Company install a security system in our house - and just in time! Some guy came ringing on our doorbell today - some guy I don't know so, of course, I didn't answer. I was able to post a video close-up of the person's face and ask around the neighborhood if someone knew why he was ringing on folk's doorbells and a neighbor replied saying it was someone trying to sell Omaha Steaks. After calling Omaha Steaks - this guy was not someone from their company. Within minutes we were able to broadcast and store the face of suspicious behavior. Wow - why did we wait so long? Upfront cost minimal - customer service awesome - low monthly fee and well worth it for the peace of mind and ability to take assertive action against crime! read more

The people at Colorado security are nice but they sell your contract to a larger company, Moni specifically. Colorado security told me I can get out of my contract by 1) paying 80% of remainder of contract (they make you sign on for 3 years, so beware of that) or 2) if I was selling my house, new owners can take over remaining contract. well, I was selling my house. Buyers wanted to take over remaining x amount of months I think it was 22 months. Ok ready to go. They reached out to the company in writing stating they were taking it over. That's what they said to do. A day before closing- no sign of it being in new buyers name. Then Colorado security tells me I need to contact Moni they can't do anything ok. I get the buyers to contact Moni. They say the new buyers take over the 22 months plus they need to sign on for additional 3 years. So they backed out, saying it was a scam. Sure was in my opinion I agreed with them. They should have just been able to take over remaining lease. So I paid the 80% remaining. What a waste. Barely used the system to begin with, only when I went out of town. If life happens, these contracts are hard to get out of. Will never do a security system again. Also Colorado security should keep it local or be more specific they will sell your contract from the beginning. Would have rather went with a clear cut company but never again. read more
