The Eddy - The Eddy Burger

They were kind of just fatty pieces of barbecue meat. Still delicious and the sauces were great, but not really what I was hoping for. We ordered cheese curds, which were actually cubes and that is the first time I've ever seen shaped curds. They were pretty good, as was the sausage and mac & cheese, though the cheese sauce was a little thin. My mom had the focaccia grilled cheese, which had awesome flavors in it, but the focaccia itself was super thick. If we could decrease the bread by like half I think this would be an awesome choice. I think the main reason I would go to the Eddy is to hang out on their patio, especially when they have live music. It's a good view of golden in the foothills and its probably a great sunset spot. They also have a lot of good nonalcoholic options which we really appreciated - including nonalcoholic wine, which you don't see very often . I think I would stop back here on my way back from hiking or climbing in the canyon but I hope to be a little more impressed by the food next time.

Yes we were told we could even bring her inside. This made all the adults so happy. We sat in/out near a huge back patio set with games and other dog owners came and went. Food selection was nice, and there were a few options for a diner with gluten restrictions, though not a dedicated gf prepared. Two men ate burgers, and I had the fried green tomato blt it was very good. So many fries on the side. Service was a smidgen slow, the waiter was attentive until near the end of our meal as more folks came and went in the restaurant. We waited a little to get final check. Great patio/pub dining inside the restaurant. Super dog friendly.

It appeared that we were going to have a great meal with great service, until...... Our server was very attentive, until food was delivered... then no where to be found. We ordered deviled eggs that were overcooked and too salty. My friend and I shared a burger and her son had the pork chop. Our meal arrived without any condiments (please.... a burger and no ketchup?). I attempted to flag down our waiter, but to no avail. I got up and found another server near the drink stand and asked for condiments. She said they would right over. Ten minutes later, nothing..... finally found our waiter who retrieved condiments from the kitchen... by then our burger was cold and not very tasty. We decided to treat ourselves with some key lime pie which was recommended by our servers as his "favorite." The pie had far too much crust that was chewy and hard. The entire meal was a big disappointment.

Only note is the servers need to try and flip tables faster. The Brussels are a must, we got the siracha aioli but some of the best Brussels I've had. My husband got the beast burger it was okay, it looked a little dry, not like your normal smash burger. I got the street tacos, chicken tinga, carnitas and barbacoa. All the meat was okay, chicken was the most moist and flavorful. Would not recommend the barbacoa, very dry and cinnamon forward in flavor, carnitas was okay (chipotle is better). Atmosphere was nice, good lighting, would come back but would order something different.

As we were looking at the menu, I didn't notice any GF indicators by any of the menu items, nor did the menu itself mention gluten free items. I was hoping our friends would be able to enjoy a decent selection of their delicious food that I had come to love. What a surprise - we learned that EVERYTHING on the menu is gluten free. Are you kidding me? Even the churros? Yes, even the churros. Chips and salsa? No problem. Our friends were so surprised and so very impressed. We ordered the pork shank (scrumptious), chicken enchiladas with jalapeño cream sauce (yes, please) and roasted chicken (tender and well seasoned). And yes, we shared an order of churros. Kiddos in a candy store - that's the vibe our table had. Friends literally impressed with every bite and with zero worries about having limited options. I was so happy for them and so impressed with Teocalli. The food was incredible - as always. Staff were wonderful and the place itself is gorgeous. Teocalli has a minimal, yet very tasteful feel. I love the live plants and beautiful decor. 10/10 highly recommend.

I love that Teocalli Cocina is 100% gluten-free. Thank you! That said, they really do need to offer some vegan options. A mushroom taco, cauliflower taco, or something with grilled veggies and beans would be tasty. It can be done, other places do it! (Note: many gluten free people are dairy free too.) My husband ordered the cheese enchiladas, but was given chicken instead, and we were disappointed to learn that the rice and pinto beans contain meat. This is unnecessary. I do hope they incorporate more vegetarian and vegan options into the menu in the future.

Their expansive patio has great views of North Table Mountain to the west and a sports complex to the south. Their large interior was packed on a late Wednesday afternoon. The bartenders were very pleasant, and they came out to the patio to give our 15 week old husky mix puppy pets and treats. The house made beers were top notch. There was a food truck serving Turkish doner kebabs that were really delicious. We'll happily return to this excellent establishment the next time the winds blow us to Golden.

We ended up finding two seats adjacent to a larger group. Aside from a lack of seating, the other drawback is no TVs in the main room, so if you're wanting to watch anything (such as the NFL playoffs on this day) you're out of luck. On the bright side, they had a great beer selection...five different malts, so we started with a flight. In order of preference: * Maple bourbon pecan brown * Tmave pivo dark Czech lager * Up and about mocha stout * Black planet imperial porter * Rambler American amber One note, if what we got was actually the Rambler, it's the worst amber we've ever had. It tasted more like an IPA, which we both hate, than an Amber. Didn't care for this one at all. After finishing the flight, we each had a Czech lager followed by the pecan brown. The more of the lager I drank, the less I liked it. It was fine, but not sure I'd get it again. All in all, cool place with good beer. Especially on a nice day where you can sit outside.

Goosetown Station is a unique experience. It combines the cool vibe of the grassy setting of Fiddler's Green with the experience of listening to music with friends in an intimate garden setting. The photos I've seen posted so far are misleading. They are outdated pictures of a place that no longer exists. And current pictures don't communicate the vibe. Goosetown Station has evolved to a one-of-a-kind music venue. It has a lot of moving parts that work well together to bring you a music experience that will stay with you long after you leave. But because it's always changing, evolving, improving, what I tell you about the place may change when you visit. But however the place is when you visit, you can be guaranteed your experience will be enjoyable and memorable. PARKING ======== There is parking on the street in front of Goosetown Station. The street is a dead end. If you can't find parking on that street, there is a free, open, public parking lot a 1/2 a block away. There is also public parking one block over in the other direction, across from Ford street. You can park there and walk across the footbridge to get to Goosetown Station. ADMISSION ========== When I walked up the incline to the entrance to the house I was greeted by a young woman who told me they take cash or Venmo. (I read a previous review that said they don't do cash. That's changed.) HANDICAP ACCESS ================ If you are wheelchair bound, the place is set up with no stairs leading to the house. There is seating inside the house and also a full bar and bathrooms. From the inside of the house you cannot see the stage and I'm not sure if they pipe the music from the stage into the house, but they should for those who want to sit inside. There is also comfortable seating on the side of the house in an area you walk through to get to the back where the stage is. I don't remember if there are stairs between the front entrance and this side seating area. If not, it's a comfortable, covered area where you can sit, hear the music and see the stage. SEATING AREAS ============= From the pictures I saw before I went, I imagined this place to be a house with a stage in its small backyard with a patio area to sit and watch the band. I was pleasantly shocked when I walked around the side of the house and entered the backyard. It's a huge area. There is a main grassy seating area with comfortable couches, groups of seats and lots of firepits. There is a huge tented area in one corner of the backyard. There are clusters of seats along the side and a table in a covered area with vines growing up the wall. There is a covered seating area with a firepit next to the outside bar and a large, isolated, sandy play area for children and their parents in another corner of the yard. BARS ===== There is a fully stocked bar to the right when you enter the building. There is a bar in the back and sometimes, depending on the crowds, they set up a bar in the front with beer and wine. I was able to use Apple Pay at the bar. FAMILIES WELCOME ================ This place is kid friendly. There were several young children and their parents attending the concert the night I went. As I mentioned there is a whole sandy play area with toys in a corner of the backyard. FOOD ===== They try to have food trucks to provide something to eat while you listen to music. The night I was there they were having a dispute with the city of Golden who didn't want food trucks parked on their streets (even though the street in front of Goosetown Station is a dead end.) So they offered Anthony's pizzas and had chips and hummus. The food they offer isn't meant to be your main meal as much as just something to help you not have an empty stomach if you're drinking alcohol. MUSIC ====== The quality of the band was outstanding. They played at a volume that was just enough to fill the backyard. They weren't trying to rock the neighborhood but the sound was sufficient to be heard over the quiet conversations of the guests. "THE FEEL" ========= At the risk of sounding sexist, this place feels like it was designed by women. In fact I only saw one man working the venue. He was the bartender inside. Other than that it was women attending to the visitors. I say it seems like women designed this place because it looked like it was deliberately planned to be comfortable, charming, welcoming and beautiful. The details of this place speak of someone who wants to create an atmosphere that goes beyond utility. Even the bathrooms are nicely decorated with candles burning. If you go to Goosetown Station, enjoy yourself and please don't change anything. It's perfect just the way it is. (Check out my pictures to see how this place looks now.)

We just made it a few minutes before the end of happy hour and was able to give the Pork Green Chili Cheese Fries and the Fried Pickles a try. Amazing prices for their happy hour too! We had burgers, the salmon risotto and the steak sandwich. Everything was so tasty. If I had to absolutely nitpick, the fried pickle is the chip style that I love but it was way over seasoned. When the Latina in the group tells you it's too salty, that's telling you something. I tried the pickle on the burger and it was already brined salty, then if you bread that and fry it and then season it... it was unbelievably salty.... Overall the salmon was well cooked, the burgers juicy and the steak sandwich super tender. The bar decor was super pretty and the service amazing.... They are also dog-friendly which is a fun feature, but we went on a busy day and there were a bunch of dogs inside and outside, which I have to wonder if so many animals are indoors does this become a food safety issue? I will say our server was very nice, but the food was sub par to say the least. The items we ordered were severely under seasoned. They were quite bland and lacked any depth of flavor. The items on the menu had average prices to them, so there was no sticker shock on that end but, when did restaraunts start charging extra for sides of ranch?! It's not enough to cover your restaraunt costs with the $25 burger I just ordered? This restaraunt is located in a touristy town, so I'm sure they get all the traffic they need, but as a local I will not be back!
