My family and I have been going to Colorado Dental for a few years now. Dr Kim is fair and honest in his billing, never felt like I'm being taken advantage of. He is very caring and compassionate. He is a very knowledgeable dentist, occasionally he is training dental assistant. But he is always making sure they do the right thing for the patient. If you search for all dentists around the area, It is not as bad as this place. Meaning that you have plenty to choose from. What so bad about this place? Well, I can't trust them, and THAT is about it. Ignore that User name Bob s. giving this place 5 stars. He's probably a friend of the owner. If you check his reviews, seem like he is leaving good reviews to his fellow colleague in the same field. (3 views total). As for me, I won't be coming here again. The dentist was nice at first, he gives smile face, I felt like I could trust him. I told him my situation that I am not very wealthy. I clearly told him, I only want to do basic cleaning and anything that my insurance could cover. He sounds like he is doing what is good for me. But everytime he talks, I felt like he is trying to chain me down into debts. He even tries to sign me up for some credit card to make a payment to his office. I did felt like just because I'm young, he thinks I'm an ignorant to be taken advantage of. This happened after the cleaning. First time at his office, I agreed to the cleaning, because I just met the Dentist. He seem trustworthy. I had went to other dentist before, they gave the same impression, so I thought, i have nothing to worry about. I came here, because it is local. They took my xray ahead of time. I sat down, ready to be cleaned. I thought the Dentist itself will be doing the cleaning. No, an unknown assistant, who also is handling the administrative works will be cleaning me. Ok fine, if she is good, what's the big deal right? I'm seeing her going back and forth, I do wonder if they clean their equipment properly after each used. I was very concern about the water vacuum that is put in my mouth. Before me, I saw another patient just walk out of that room. If you have the chance, question it next time. Her glove, I see her touching everywhere without changing it. Her cleaning was not as gentle as the place I used to go to. The cleaning felt kind of painful. Did she purposely go rough on the cleaning to cause a bleeding? Because they want to give me antibiotic shot on the next appointment that I was schedule to. Before you let anyone touch your teeth, check to see if they have a certificate (permit to even clean your teeth.) Maybe I'm just bias or misunderstood them. But I'm left with too many questions that I know I will not have the answer to. Did they really try to take advantage of me or they are doing what is best for me. Cause it's strange, I went back to my old dentist by san gabriel and valley, That dentist told me, I didn't need no $500 dollars per shot antibiotic, 3 treatments total too. He told me just rinse your mouth with some salt and mouth wash. hmmm.. At the end of the day, if I can't trust my dentist, I won't go to him. You can smile all you want and say nice things all you want. You can't stop me from getting a second opinion. Before you let him try to up sale you, find your way to get out of the office and get a second opinion. This dentist tries to put me in a debt commitment with such treatment, a treatment maybe I don't need. I experience it first hand on how he tries to convince me, and tries to seal the deal on the spot. Additional note: The place is not very busy, I don't see the point of appointment when I still have to wait. They made me sign some agreements about appointment. (Here is where I begin to lose my trust. They so eager to schedule you for an appointment. I felt like every each appointment, they want to give your healthy teeth something to do. If you don't keep you appointment, they will penalize you!) Can you smell green in the air? lol Goodluck. By the way, the things he said, it is not necessary not true. The real question is, do you need it? Just like company doing bug works at your house, you think you have termite, but really you don't. Dr. Kim is a very friendly doctor. He will thoroughly explain everything to you and especially the cost breakdown. I like going to him because for the area, he offers the best prices as well as accept medical. Highly recommend for the quality of service. read more

That one star you see right there is for the nice greeting upon arrival. That's it. The dental assistant was obviously training a new assistant that day, lucky me. She left the trainee to do my cleaning. Not only did she splatter all that pink (insert professional term) on my face, she didn't even bother to wipe it off! She just sat there fumbling, and trying to make small talk to cover her mistakes. Fine, she's new. But she definitely didn't know what she was doing and acted like she did. An apology for the MESS would've been nice. Just saying. Moving along, I met with Dr. Kim and he was very polite. What came as a huge surprise to me was that he said i had cavities and needed 4 fillings, but not to worry because my insurance covered it. I haven't had ONE cavity in YEARS but I convinced myself maybe i didn't take as much care of my oral hygiene as I thought I did. The main reason for this visit was because an old crown had fallen off and I needed a replacement/repair. the assistant handed him my FILM x-ray (who uses film anymore??) He said he could repair it, which means less pay out-of-pocket (yay). But he reminded me that I needed to get the fillings done asap. When I was driving back home I kept thinking to myself about my cavities, so I went and got a second opinion. I chose this dental office because it was close to where I worked and I wanted a dentist to advise me about my fallen crown (ha!) right away. So this time I went back to my current dentist. They did a whole new set of x-rays and to my shock, he said everything looked good. I asked if he was sure I didn't have any cavities. He said he was sure. I told him about my recent visit to Dr. Kim and he said what I was told was $hady and for whatever reason they told me I needed, not one but FOUR fillings, is just suspicious. Just had my cleaning and cavities filled week before that Dr Kim took out a very painful wisdom tooth .Dr Kim is very caring and takes his time to do a perfect job my teeth never looked so clean and always have a good experience when I go .. Not a bad dentist. I stopped going to him simply because I moved out of Pasadena. if I lived at my previous address, I'd still probably go. He's a really nice guy and very personable. Bob S. is right about the dental hygenist stuff: he gives a lot of personal attention. He's affordable and he's not particularly difficult to get an appointment. The two problems I had were 1) his office is far too intense trying to schedule appointments. After six months, they would call almost daily trying to schedule an appointment. The name "Maggie from Colorado Dental" might be etched in my lexicon permanently" (hint if I don't call back the 5th time, don't keep calling) 2) the appointments would almost ALWAYS go long. For example: an appointment the hygenist claimed was one hour turned into 3 hours...no apology, explanation or anything and on this particular occasion and I was super numb from a filling. This wasn't the only time. He also twice lost x-rays. I went 2 years straight, every general appointment, having to do an x-ray. Again, it wasn't all bad...there are some really sketchy dentists out there, and he isn't one of them. I recommend him if you live within a mile or so away in Pasadena, and you are having a hard time finding an honest dentist. read more

Dr. Kim is the doctor who I've been looking for my son who is autistic. My son's behaviors make all doctors appointment very hard, especially dental care. I've been so many doctors due to my son but most doctors spent less than 3-5min. to listen my son's medical histories. This dentist paid full attention to listen my son's medical issues and gave heartfelt advice for his dental care as he could for 30 min. before the real treatment. Dr. Kim understands special kids completely and he was so patient to wait my son was ready to understand, laid on chair and open his mouth. The doctor was fully prepared to treat my son's cleaning and filling the cavities quickly as possible not to cause worse behaviors. I went him for my cleaning and whitening after 2 months. He was very honest for answering my sensitive teeth and didn't recommend whitening. He was the first dentist who doesn't recommend whitening. I save money! I absolutely recommend this doctor! If you are looking for an honest and kind doctor who really cares your teeth not a luxurious office or staffs, He is the one!! read more

Dr Kim is the best dentist I have ever had. First, his office hours are ideal for my busy work schedule - they are open Saturdays and I have never had to mis work. He takes the time to explain the state of my oral health and best practices. He isn't like other dentists offices I've been to where the Dentist doesn't spend more than a few minutes with you and pawns all the work to the hygienist. I used 1800 Dentist previously and Dr Kim has the local provider they recommend in Pasadena beat hands down. Dr Kim is a graduate of USC and he knows his stuff. I've been very pleased with his work and I highly recommend him. I wouldn't give either of the negative reviews here much weight. Most Dr offices get back logged and to expect to be out in a lunch hour is not realistic. Also, strange someone would write a review without having even been seen by the dentist. read more

I brought my mother here as a dental emergency case. She is in pain for 3 days and could not sleep last night from swelling and pain, she clearly has a dental abscess. I called Dr Kim in the morning and explained its a dental emergency and if he would help, he said -come at 4 pm. I brought my mom at quarter to 4. We waited till 4.45. Then finally we were asked for insurance card, it took another 45 min of him calling and verifying insurance. Of course! Which dentist would look at you without making sure hes getting paid, right? Finally after 2 hours i helped my mom to get in a dental chair to be examined. He took Xray and said the tooth is infected. We know that! I had previously explained that we already went to another dentist yesterday and we are on antibiotics but it looks like its not getting better. We just wanted the tooth to be simply extracted- thats all. Dr Kim said that was indeed his recommendation to get this tooth out, but he wont do it today, he needs medical clearance from a primary doctor yo do any dental work. I am a nurse practitioner and work at dermatology and i know exactly what he was trying to say. He didnt want to get involved. He waisted our time, did not help us, fid not even offer any pain killers to get by while sending us out of his office at 6 pm when all other offices including dental urgent care are already closed! Why didnt you tell me in the morning i called that there was a possibility you would not help us so we kept other dental offices appointments?? The worst experience. Sadly, from a doc with USC degree which i have much respect for. FYI i give him credit for continuously smiling entire time. read more

This is probably the worst dentist I've been to. Twice the dentist has been 30+ minutes late for our appointments without any notice. It was also during the work day, so I had to miss out on work because of his lateness. Any dental corrections he did seemed to go away within weeks. He would also charge for unnecessary procedures. Very unprofessional. Please stay away. read more

Today was my second appointment at this office and I must say I am very pleased with my treatment. I had 5 fillings done . Dr Kim is very friendly doctor not like other doctors who just go in and do the work and leave. I personally recommend this office if you want a nice calm friendly environment! read more
