We hosted my younger daughter's birthday party here, and it was a blast! I had come here previously for a college event years ago, and am happy to see they're still around. Booking it online was a piece of cake (no pun intended). They had "Happy Birthday!" with her name nicely decorating the big chalkboard near the front. We brought in soft pretzels, drinks, and cupcakes, which was perfect. The staff was super friendly and helpful, ensuring everything ran smoothly during our party. They were patient with the kiddos and gave them all plenty of time to finish their pieces. There was a decent variety of pottery options to choose from, too. Everyone had a fun time. Parking is not great here in the heart of Wayne; there are a couple of spots right out front and metered spots/lots in the vicinity. Just know that ahead of time and come prepared. My only complaint, albeit a minor one, was that they never called me about the pieces when they were ready to pick up, and it took a lot longer than expected. Additionally, they lost one of them -- but thankfully were able to find it. It was a hassle, as I had to coordinate getting all the pieces back to everyone. We had a great time making a llama planter and had the expected experience. Have been to other locations in the US. A few disappointments, the selection of bisque wear was low. Also, there was only one studio attendant to manage all participants. It took extra long to have assistance. We will return.... Always seems to take forever to fire up the kiln , like more than a couple weeks. And it's crazy crazy expensive . I did a bowl and it was $45 and that doesn't include the "studio fee" of $8 an hour . So if you bring your 3 kids , that's $24 an hour just in studio time. read more

Concept of the store is cute and it is a lot of fun. Unfortunately, my sister and I were blindsided when we went on a cute little outing here earlier. We were told the amount would be comprised of a $10 reservation for the table, $8 per person for each of us to paint, and whatever the cost of our pottery was. I figured the pottery can't be any more than $20 each. Imagine my surprise when we go to check out and our total comes to $116.18. Apparently, the pottery pieces we chose were $25 and $65. I ordered three of their "to-go-kits" as Christmas gifts for a couple of girlfriends. When I ordered the confirmation email said they would call me when my order was ready for pick up. Three days later I called them. To arrange pick up- they offer "curbside pick-up" which we decided to do. When we got there our bag of items were sitting on the sidewalk. Anyone could have come up and walked away with our items. When I got home to organize the gift. I was missing a reindeer ornament and they gave me 2 sets of paint for three kits. The description says each kits comes with two sets of paint per kit. So two of my kits had no paint. I called to get this fixed. Well they had no more reindeer ornaments because they were sold out so I got a regular reindeer and they still didn't give me enough paint again. I asked about instructions and they said they had ran out Of their printed instructions so the receptionist wrote it down on a piece of paper. I hope they don't mess up my friends order. read more

My fiance and I went in on a whim one day with only an hour to go before closing. We picked a coaster set and decided on a gift for my parents' anniversary since it was an easy idea and we didn't really have any prep time for ideas. The girls were all SUPER helpful and the clientele was made up of a great mix of a birthday party, a little girl with her mom and aunt, and a couple of teenage friends of one of the girls that worked there, one of which with AMAZING talent making an exact replica plate of artwork from a book. We were leery of how our project would come out when we handed them in, just in the nick of time, but once we got them back the next week, glazed and fired, they were FANTASTIC! I'll be going back tomorrow morning with a friend and her daughter, only this time to the Montgomeryville location, and repeat business is one of the best recommendations there are, right? read more

For those of you who are not familiar with this store, Color Me Mine is a studio where you can paint a pre-made pottery. After personalizing your pottery with decorative colors, they bake it and glaze it for you. I first came to know about Color Me Mine through my sister. One of her friend had her birthday party here. She told me how great it was and whatnot, but I dismissed the idea because I thought it was a bit "kiddy." A week later, she got her mug cup from the store - nicely glazed and baked. I got mildly jealous and decided to make my own pottery. With my boyfriend, I stepped into the studio. I thought the place would be filled with kids, but there were many adults as well as kids. The walls were neatly lined with white pottery, ready to be painted. I told one of the staff that it was my first time here. She explained the procedure and helped us along the way. After choosing my pottery, I chose my paint colors. After that, my boyfriend and I sat down on a table and quietly colored away. It took us about two or three hours to finish. I worried whether he might think this is boring and waste of time. Surprisingly, he really enjoyed it. He thought it was relaxing. I also thought it was a nice place to sit and chat for hours as you paint your pottery with your buddy. Since the studio can get really busy at times, I would recommend calling ahead to make sure the studio is available and make reservations. read more

I came here to celebrate my nephews fourth birthday. I let him pick out whatever he wanted to paint and after careful consideration he choose a shark. He originally wanted a GIANT dinosaur that was $75 after seeing a painted one on the shelf but thank God they didn't have a blank one. I had completely forgotten to grab an old T shirt for him for him to have full range of making a mess. One of the girls working saw me rolling up his sleeves and heard me reminding him not to get any on shirt. She quickly grabbed a kiddie smock (with long sleeves!) and offered it to us. I'm sure his mom is thanking them without knowing it. They only charge a base fee and then you can pick from 100+ colors. My adorable nephew choose about 8 different colors of glaze and was using interesting techniques. He's 4 so I'll let it slide and because he's my nephew it turned out beautifully. I painted a spoon rest and used a variety of colors and types of glazes. Anyway, we were there for about 2 hours and the staff randomly checked in on us being attentive but not pushy. The one con I was worried about was the 1 week wait to pick up your painted pieces but he had such a great time painting that the one week wait wasn't a problem. I brought my 3 year old here last night for Pajama Night--on the last Friday of the month, they offer a $1 studio fee if your kiddo wears pajamas. The girls could not have been sweeter or more patient with my little guy, and he loved picking out his colors and painting the pieces. They prices weren't that bad--we painted a large sushi plate (a gift for his aunt's wedding) and a small dinosaur, which came to about $30. HORRIBLE experience. ! Lost my sons piece with no remorse. Owner was rude and unhelpful. I will absolutely never let me kids paint there again. My son was in hysterics over his Christmas gift he made being lost. Terrible. It's a shame you employees and yourself did not have any respect towards myself or my husband- you are correct it would have gone a long way. I do not recall any yelling just mere frustration at how poorly the situation was handled on your part. It's a shame because my family visited your establishment regularly and spent a lot of money and no long want to be associated with such a place or the people there. read more

I have been to this location twice with friends and we had a blast! I made a serving tray and a butter dish that turned out beautifully. The manager gave us great advice on how to make our pieces look creative and nice. My mom loved how the tray turned out so much that I gave it to her. We came here on a Tuesday night for their two-for-one sitting fee night and had a great time. It was not crowded at all and you just pick out which ceramic piece you want to paint from the wall and bring it to your table. There is a great selection of ceramics, especially for the holidays, and of paints. The girls working there were very helpful and were extremely kind even when my mom was painting well after the closing time. I think the pieces are a little pricey especially because there is a $10 sitting fee but it is worth it for a fun activity. It's BYO if you'd like to make a night of it. I recommend coming on a Tuesday (2-for-1 sitting fee) or Thursday (ladies night, half price sitting fee). read more

Wayne location. Years ago I had my kids parties here. It was always fun and the owners and people who worked there were great. Recently we went for nostalgia reasons to sit and paint. I was completely taken back by the way the owners spoke and treated their employees. These are not the original owners. They were rude and condescending to their employees and belittled them in front of us. The girls who were helping us were very nice and shouldn't have been treated this way. I went to Color Me Mine and spent hours painting an item over several days. It would have been gorgeous and was for a big birthday gift. After a week, they called me and told me one of their employees simply knocked it off a shelf and it broke. They were fairly unapologetic and offered a store credit - not even a gift certificate to paint there again. I was very very upset by the customer service there and more upset that I lost something I did that is irreplaceable. Do not go here if you want to save your pottery. read more

My nanny took my children to Color Me Mine about 2 weeks ago. Between spring break and getting back to school, we completely forgot about picking up our items. We were reminded today when the police arrived at our door to advise our nanny to go over to the store and pay for and pick up our items. When I went to the store, the owner advised me that she felt totally justified calling the police because she couldn't afford a collection agency. Other than the fact that I cannot believe someone would call a collection agency over an item we NEVER received and was only a week overdue I cannot help but find this action completely outrageous. The owner claims she called several times. She certainly never called our house and our nanny said they only left one message on her phone, which she intended to return but forgot. Between this appaling result, the owner's horrible attitude and the fact that the bill came to $60 for 2 items I will never visit this place again. read more

very cute idea, and the kids love it. however, it's INSANE how expensive it is!!!! my daughter and i painted two very small things, and with the sitting fees, it came to $50! where i lived in the boston area, we had similar places that were half the price. the lady who was there when we were was also cold. she completely ignored us and answered multiple phone calls. when i tried to pay, she was logged onto google chat, and again, kept answering phone calls, leaving me to stand there waiting to be even acknowledged. though the stuff is cute, i definitely would stick with Busy Bees. much better customer service and pricing. read more

Terrible! Very unhelpful people! I've been trying to make a Christmas tree for a year and a half. The first one the paint all chipped off so they would only give a store credit for the next year. Then this year (after 6 or 7 trips total) the lights don't fit in! So I tried to twist them in and it chipped! I called and they said they must have given me the wrong lighting package - are u kidding me. After $150 the thing doesn't light and is chipped. Then they say u should have gotten small light and glued them in. Would have been lovely if they told me the last 5 times I was there. I demanded a full refund and they said no. I'll get it through Visa. Even when I had the kids there they wouldn't help, answer questions, didn't know where products were, and very cocky. I'm so disappointed because I had a tree like this that my mom made for us as kids and I've been trying to recreate a nice memory but Color me mine has been such aggravation. read more

I have had good and bad results. Not because of the welcoming staff. But with who ever does the glazing and firing. You need to be in to work well in advance of the date you want the finished object by. Else, you will have no time to make a new one. I decorated 4 mugs. One came out discolored, all were faded-. Since I had done a mug a month ago with much better results, I have to believe that the quality of handling this time was sub par. I don't know what the solution is but I would say that this is where you take your kids and where the final result, if childish, is amenable. Meanwhile, a sad Christmas for my sister. If you are looking for a fun day that ultimately leads to major disappointment and ultimately having to deal with an incompetent staff, then spend your day at Color Me Mine. We had a special mother/daughter day 2 weeks ago where my daughter painted a fairy. For 2 weeks she has been talking about this fairy and today, Lindsay, the "full time manager" called to tell me they lost it. She was willing to EITHER refund my money or give my daughter the opportunity to paint another fairy. My feeling is they should do both. Lindsay said they did everything they could to find it, yet when pressed she told me she did not contact ANY of their customers that had been in over the past week or so to try to find it. If she did that, it would take her "30 days". I'm sure she is SO busy at Color Me Mine that satisfying one customer is not worth her time, so I thought posting this might help free up her time a little bit. read more
