A full service pottery shop, customers have the option to paint ready-made pottery, use a pottery wheel to craft a piece from scratch, or really get hands-on and use your hands to mold your own beautiful work of art. At the Yelp New Jersey Elite event, the hand building class was quite an experience where the friendly owners and staff showed us how to take a ball of clay and using pinch pot form, style it into a bowl. Once the bowl shape took form, we embellished the clay with molds to add design elements. I loved the paw print mold! The staff was very helpful to assist and made sure the art was sturdy and ready for the oven. We got to pick what color we wanted and the staff will paint it later. Pieces are usually ready 3-4 weeks after your visit, so it is a great reason to come back to the area to pick up the finished art. I loved to learn the location is dog friendly, as long as your dog is well-behaved. Since the experience requires full attention and is hands-on, being in control of your pup is extra important. There was a doggie guest there during my visit and was a perfect pup. Blue Skies Pottery also hosts events and collaborates with local businesses including hosting a paw print ornament workshop with the pet store next door. We had a private room, which allowed the children to interact and play together. They started off with tattoos and coloring while kids were brought to another area to make teddy bears in groups of four or five. Lately, you go to a birthday party, and the kids are all just running off on their own and not playing together. Here, the activities got the children to play together, which I find so important. It was absolutely awesome! I also liked the quality of the teddy bears, clothing, and backpacks the kids got. I also can't say enough nice things about the service and staff. They were incredibly helpful in every possible way and accommodating. From the moment we walked in everything just worked seamlessly. There's also such a calm vibe that it is pleasant for the parents hanging out. The party area is open and spacious so everyone felt very comfortable. I went with my 4 year old niece. Cara (the owner) was very nice and patient. She helped us pick out our pottery and colors. She helped set up my niece with her palette and paintbrushes. We had fun painting and drying, then adding glitter. They spray your work with gloss when you are done and you get to take it home the same day if you don't require it to be food safe - otherwise, they keep it for a week or two and apply glaze finish on it. Overall, we had a great experience because the ladies were nice and attentive; the process was seamless and smooth; and it wasn't too expensive. They have a variety of ceramic sculptures (including Sesame Street & Disney characters for the kids), cups, plates, and canvas. PS. They let my niece play with paint and finger paint on the paper-covered table while we waited for our pottery to be ready. They were so nice!

I made a vase. My wife made a bowl & lid. I accidentally broke a part of my vase off at the top while making it. But Cait gave me a great idea. Why not put roses at that spot? She showed me how to make them. I would have never thought that I could make something like this. 2 weeks later we went back to paint our pieces (a few doors down at a different studio). Even after a few coats, the paint looked dull. Then we went back at a later time to pick our pieces up. WOW!! You can see in the included photos. The firing brings the colors out so vibrant.
