It's located in an old home but they make great use of the space they have. The owner and other staff working there are so incredibly helpful and kind. They go above and beyond and makes for a very enjoyable experience. They also offer plenty of quilting classes for very reasonable prices. I absolutely love his quilt shop and highly recommend it. You will find everything you need. My only complaint was that we went on an extremely hot day and there isn't central air so some of the rooms are very hot. Overall it's a great quilt shop!

It was my first time there, so they showed us around the many rooms of their shop. The shop offers classes and the occasional retreat in their upstairs space. The store is a quilter's dream - its saturated from head to toe in fabric, patterns, kits, and more. Virtually every single surface was covered in quilt related items for sale, but it doesn't look messy or chaotic. They have a great selection of reproduction fabrics as well, and entire sections for nursery quilts, batiks, flannel, and seasonal items. You can buy fabrics from many major designers. The staff helped us choose fabrics for our project and also provided helpful information about the material (we almost bought one rayon print when the rest of our material was cotton). I really enjoyed visiting this store and without a doubt I will come back, especially because they carry so many things I can usually only get online. You are not only painting your board, but also sanding and distressing the wood to your style and choosing your stain. Some of the crafts feature items besides wood too, like my mason jar craft. We heavily used stencils, so an artsy touch is not required, and the owners were great about helping us clean up some small mistakes too. In fact, the owners were so friendly and helpful, they really made the whole event fun and we learned a lot along the way. They are BYO, so you can also bring along a drink! You don't have to get too messy, but you do work with paint so I'd recommend clothes you don't mind getting dirty.

Many paint, others work with other mediums like charcoal. Jim bounces from student to student offering help and critique, helping you figure out how to solve a problem you're having with your piece as you go. He has a room of art supplies you can buy from if you run out of something or need something else, which is super convenient. If you're new to art or to a medium, Jim has some trials and process to how he helps folks build up the basics. Everyone in the class has done them before graduating to painting. I'm nervous even admitting this because people may take up all the spots, but I truly believe in Jim's classes and know that many people also love his work for framing. Give this place a shot!

What a GREAT shop…read more.. The Golden Feather is (what I consider) a boutique shop. There is plenty to see, and is the PERFECT place to shop for gifts. They even have gift cards! What I love the most about the Golden Feather is that everything is unique - it all comes from local artists. They have jewelry, pottery, scarves, artwork, tons of cute things for babies, and lots more... When you walk in, you'll see lots of tables and shelves, with merchandise all over the place! On the walls, on the floors... It's a great at-home feeling, not the sterile shopping experience you get at a department store. There is a lot to see here, so take your time! The prices range - some items are higher than others, but again, keep in mind that the items are handmade... And you are paying for quality. They always have clearance shelves also, I just got something today marked as $60 for 50% off! My mother swears by this place - whenever she has to go to a baby shower/house warming, she comes here for all of her gifts. They have great gift baskets, and they will gift wrap for free. They put your merchandise in a beautiful bag with tissue paper and a peacock feather... Very nice touch. There is a parking lot outside with plenty of parking, and is right off of Rt. 30, so it is super easy to get to. The staff have always been cordial and will help you out with any questions you have.
