It's even a BYOB, so you can sip and craft all in one. It's a DIY dream. You choose your stencil when you register for a class online and it's printed before you arrive. The instructor, Bridget, walks you through the process of distressing your board, choosing your stain, applying it, putting your stencil on, and painting it at the end. She was so patient and kind and helped everyone throughout the room along with the assistant, ange. This class is perfect for anyone, even those who don't feel creative. The staff makes it so easy for anyone to have a good time and leave with great art that they made themselves! They even have private parties available so you can rent the place for just you and your friends. Will definitely be back!!! Follow them on social media for information on coupons and deals too.

Just attended a lovely wedding at the Wallingford Community Arts Center. I've been to quite a few…read moreweddings lately, and this place is much better than most. I love that the space is built onto the existing Dixon mansion, which was itself built in the Arts and Crafts style (?) Don't miss the coffered ceilings, the wrought iron detailing in the entrance windows, and the beautiful tilework and woodwork around the fireplaces. We were in the large space with the high ceilings, with artwork on the walls. I loved that the artwork was all local - it really brought home the community aspect. The event was very well managed, and the food was delicious. I felt like the pacing was particularly efficient, without rushing - no time wasted, here. The only drawback was (were?) the acoustics, despite the acoustic panels in the ceiling. The DJ was on the second level with two speakers, and it just didn't work. I'm not sure if that was the DJ's fault, the fault of the room, or both. Otherwise, an excellent space.

The Community Arts Center is tucked away down a local street, and I was concerned that I was lost--thankfully not the case. I had a great visit. The building feels like a living, breathing tribute to art. There are multiple floors for hosting classes and events. There is a kiln for firing pottery on site. Even the grounds are beautiful, with lots of art and sculptures resting around the walkways outside. The Tea Bowl Exhibition was very well done. I bought a ticket for a Japanese tea demonstration, which was really interesting and enjoyable. I thought I'd be at the Arts Center for an hour, but I stayed much longer to check everything out. If I lived closer, I'd definitely look into taking classes here. For now, I look forward to my next visit for an event or exhibition.
