I saw the composite reviews were a 3.3, and my personal review is about a 3.5 Supposedly this is the best pizza in Ottawa, which means the pizza in Ottawa is not very good. The pizza was more than edible, but definitely in the genre of Pizza Hut at its peak, but with a less crispy crust. Certainly no where close to a NY/CT/NJ pizza but better than like a Chicago Deep Dish of which I am not a fan. That said, I was with a huge group of 50+ people and they were more than accomodating with plenty of pizzas and salads so I certainly ate my fill. Would I go back here once or twice if I was in Ottawa again? Sure. Would I go out of my way more than 30 minutes to go here? No. read more

Colonnade Pizza Restaurant - Blue Heron Mall on Bank Street. I have been going to various Colonnade locations across Ottawa for over 45 years and have always been treated in a friendly and courteous manner, so this review is only for the above location. I don't even want to give them a 1 star, but this review site doesn't give the option for 0. That being said, despite not getting the right take out order and being treated like dirt, the food I did get was still good (Alfredo Primavera). This location has the absolute rudest, most unfriendly and worst customer service I have ever experienced in ANY restaurant I have ever stepped foot in. The only comparison would be to a restaurant I visited in Paris, which is well-known for rude customer service. I won't bore anyone with the details of this very unpleasant and annoying ordeal, but I strongly recommend that no one go to this restaurant location - ever. I finally made my way to Colonnade's after hearing a lot about it. Most places that are hyped I end up coming out disappointed, especially when you here such hyperbole as 'best pizza in town'. But for once, this place actually lived up to it's hype, mostly. The pizza is definitely high-quality, and ranks as one of the best I've had in a long time. The toppings are fresh, the crust is spectacular, and the portions are healthy. The Meditteranean Special is something that must be tried, which really gets the taste buds going. The pizza's here are bit cheesier than most, so if you like cheese, you will love this place even more. If you don't like too much cheese and want a healthier pizza, you may have to request this or make an exception this one time. One possible complaint can be that the toppings are burried under the cheese, but this does not mean the quantity of the toppings is compromised. They may not be as visible as other pizza's, but you can still taste them in all their fresh glory! I actually asked and apparently Colonnade's buys their own special ingredients, which explains why they are so fresh and tasty. There are other items on the menu, such as salads and pasta's, but those are average at best and not really anything to write home about. Pizza is their specialty, and that's what you should go for. The prices are not cheap either, but still worth it, in my opinion, in terms of the taste and portions you get. read more

The Colonnade has a long well respected reputation in Ottawa. Good, well made cheesy pizza with quality topping that always satisfy. This was my first visit to this location which is familiar to me as I worked across the street for many years when this spot was a Burger King. If it was a Colonnade back then I don't know the affect it would have had on me. Colonnade has a reputation for VERY good pizza. I may not have had a chance to resists. My first visit here was mid-day Sunday and it's obvious that it is popular with the elderly post-church crowd. But never the less the pizza we ordered was excellent. read more

Pizza is the same as the location on Metcalfe. Excellent. I think what makes this pizza superlative is the ratio of cheese to everything else. Big time cheese melted on top of other toppings. (My son argues with me, saying toppings should go on top). Crust is great - soft but not too thick A tangy sauce. My pick is the Mediterranean with sausage instead of artichokes. The olives and feta combination put my sodium intake into the red zone but it's totally worth it. Service is fast and friendly. Parking is okay if you steer clear of the Farm Boy traffic. read more

Colonnade Pizza is one of my sister's favourite restaurants and now I see why. Upon walking into the restaurant, we were greeted and seated promptly. The restaurant was clean and well kept. The only service staff member was one woman and boy did she handle it well. She was the hostess/bartender/waitress/busperson. She handled all her duties quickly and did it all with a smile. We ordered a medium combination (all-dressed) pizza. I thought the price was a bit steep at around $23 but it was delicious and filled 3 people. The mushrooms and green peppers were very fresh. Good pepperoni and lots of gooey cheese. What really did it for me though was the crust. I'm not usually one that enjoys the crust but Colonnade does it great. The overall taste of the pizza I find is unique compared to other pizzas which is nice. I would recommend Colonnade Pizza and Restaurant if you are in Ottawa and looking for a decent pie. read more

My colleagues and I decided to go out for lunch today. We heard this place had GF crust to meet some of our concerns. As soon as we arrived I had a bad feeling. The place looks like an old greasy cafeteria. It needs an update ! After reviewing the "new" menu which didn't mention gluten free options, we asked our waitress. They charge you $23.95 for a 10.5" GF pizza, the same price as for their medium (13") regular pizza. Due to my colleagues other allergies she was unable to eat pepperoni, but wanted to order the combination pizza with chicken instead. Luckily we asked if this would cost extra and sure enough it was going to be an extra $2.95! Knowing the price of theses options to be significantly less at other pizza restaurants, made this frustrating, and the waitress appeared defensive of restaurant policy/procedure instead of trying to help us or makes us comfortable. While waiting for our orders, a male and female colleague went to use the washrooms only to find them dirty and out of soap! Needless to say we didn't have high expectations for the food. When it arrived my vegetarian pizza crust was burnt all along the edge. Otherwise it was edible. I won't be going back to this pace ever again. the atmosphere, service, cleanliness and food quality are not up to code in my opinion. read more

This location of this famous restaurant continues the tradition and history that made the Colonnade famous across the city. I"be eaten at its various locations weekly since the 80's and have enjoyed the experience through until now. They have continued their tradition of great service, and an excellent staff willing to go above and beyond for their customers. Hands-down the best pizza in Ottawa. Out-of-town friends insist on coming to Colonnade and we have so many happy memories of our times there at the Metcalfe and Gilmour location. It is a thick, fully-loaded pizza that you cannot resist taking yet another bite of. Friendly staff who remember you and even what you ordered the last time. I wish if I can give them NO STARS. I went in there on Saturday with my family since you know kids love pizza the kids were so excited about it. The restaurant was pretty much empty. As we got in the hostess put us on a table which we didn't like so we requested a different table and she was fine with it. We went to the table started taking off the jackets of the kids :( and getting all comfy the manager comes by with an angry look on her face and started yelling and lecturing us that we shouldn't be sitting there and we should have sat in the spot the hostess had chosen for us. The kids started starring at me and the mother in surprise and shock , My Wife and me didn't know what to say or do because we were shocked as well. My younger son said that we should leave the restaurant since we are not welcomed here. Off course the kids were not happy when we decided to leave and were quite sad and upset. The best pizza I ever had. Pizza is my favourite food, I don't often some across one I dislike but this place stood out. I ordered the Canadian and my hubby the Meat Lovers and it was great, we both highly enjoyed it. Unique as they put the cheese on top, but that creates a sort of pocket where the toppings are. First and foremost, the price is not student friendly, it's fairly expensive for pizza compared to usually getting $12.99 pizzas from Dominos, they informed me they offer no specials. The pizza itself is delicious. Very thick, I'm a big guy and struggled to eat more than two pieces. Lots of cheese and ingredients were fresh, probably the best pizza in Ottawa. It's not good pizza for reheating though so only order as much as you need. The location is a bit out dated, but staff seems friendly. read more

I've been to the Colonnade Pizza downtown several times and to be honest it's amazing pizza. When they announced they were opening up a new location in the West end near my place I my first reaction was wow ! However I went for a pizza with my friend when they opened and i was terribly dissapointed. The atmosphere at this new location is dull. Our 3 dollar cokes were flat and when we mentioned they tasted weird we didnt even get another coke or any apology. We ordered a fancy meat pizza and it was ok but for the price we payed it wasnt worth it. I had brought a friend to Colonnade for the first time and I looked like a fool! Don't go to the west end location its OK at best . If you want real pizza go downtown this place is a bore and expensive for what you get not to mention the bad service. read more

I have eaten the pizza here (Colonnade on Bank Street) on Fridays off and on for some time now. The main attraction for us is the availability of decent gluten free pizza. Remember, I said decent, NOT great. Gluten free pizzas seem to be difficult to make and very expensive. Theirs is ok which is better than poor which is what most places produce. However, last night we order for pickup and forgot to order directly from the menu. Instead we order 4 toppings. The same 4 toppings on both my large and my wife's gluten free. Chicken, mushrooms, onions and spinach are the same toppings I have ordered around the world. We usually do not custom order here but we did last night. What a MISTAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2 pizzas = $56.00!!!!!! Yes, because we had "substitutions". Are you kidding me???!!! $56.00 for 2 pies!!!???? Ultimately, their pies are really OK but not great! Did I say $56.00 yet???!!! They are not $56.00 worth of "OK"! I spoke to the manager and politely asked if there was a way of selecting a choice and modifying it so it would be a little more reasonable. NO was the answer! No sensitivity or understanding. Not even an apology. She just didn't care! Nope, they have lost my business because they are too dumb to realize they are screwing their customers! Don't get screwed with $56.00 pizzas, just SAY NO TO COLONNADE ON BANK STREET!!!!!!!!! (Maybe any Colonnade would be more appropriate than just Bank Street!) read more
