Very fast service and a good price. What a relief when we had a flat tire so dark away from home

I'm way overdue giving Elsy a shout out and was reminded about them when I noticed them listed as…read moremy service center on a carfax email. I think my last time in was Spring 2020, and things were chaos in northern NJ around then... I'm pretty sure my first stop at the shop was for some silly repair and I opted to just wait in their seating area for a couple hours. My first time there I saw something that made me really appreciate how this shop operates. A lady had an issue with her car and the folks called around a bunch of scrapyards/used parts options, finding the cheapest parts in like Long Island or something, and could have gotten it there in time to repair same day. She couldn't afford it, and they pitched a financing option. They straight up refused to just replace the tire because a damaged rim would just tear it apart and whatever the underlying mechanical issue it had was unsafe to be on the road. A sketchy place might be fine with making a sale, but seeing how hard they tried to get her safely back on the road made me trust I wouldn't be upsold or lied to. Elsy does a lot of fleet maintenance, so their parking and lifts often have vans in them. They're also a "tire shop" but don't let that dissuade you if you need more than new tires and brakes. I've had them do all sorts of non-tire repairs and maintenance on my abused Honda - engine mounts, A/C leak, wheel bearing, oil changes... If you decide to wait for your car there, they have a coffee maker, a TV, and wifi. If you need to get to the train station down the road, they'll either call an uber or drop you off so you can get wherever you need to be. It's not as fancy as getting your work done at a dealership, but they offer basically the same perks. The Yelp tag is also very correct in this being a family operation - Jose and his son Chris were so nice and knowledgeable, and really make you feel like family. I hope the old man is enjoying his time with his granddaughter more than hanging out in the shop! Millie at the front desk is absolutely delightful and a total rockstar with all the office tasks she has to juggle. I wish every mechanic was as reliable and honest as the folks here.

Finding a good, honest, and reliable mechanic is the Holy Grail for any car owner. Derrick…read moresucceeded where two other mechanics across town had failed. Not only was the diagnosis absolutely correct, but it was explained in a way that actually made sense without talking down to me. Derrick and his team have been my mechanics since I moved to West Orange in 2018, and at this point I trust them completely with my cars. They're straight shooters. If something can wait, they'll tell you. If something needs attention now, they'll show you why. No pressure, no mystery charges, no unnecessary parts swapping. From a technical standpoint, their diagnostics have been consistently spot-on. They don't just throw parts at a problem hoping something sticks; they take the time to trace the root cause, whether it's electrical, drivetrain, or something more subtle that other shops miss. The work is done right the first time, and I've never had to come back for the same issue. Pricing is fair, turnaround times are realistic, and communication is excellent. They treat you like a long-term customer, not a one-time invoice. Shops like this are rare, and if you're looking for a place you can stick with for years, this is it. I recommend them without hesitation.

Their shop is very clean and the mechanics are professional and friendly. Derrick was great to meet after reading so much about him in previous reviews. They have music playing in the three bay work area which is great, it keeps everyone in good spirits while working on your vehicle. Pricing was very reasonable and straightforward (and no games that are played like from my area in NYC where there is a cash vs credit price where merchants charge you 2-5% extra if you pay by credit card.) I made an appointment for my service on their website and highly recommend you do as well as opposed to walk-in service as they are very busy and then calling them to confirm that for your requested service that you can wait rather than drop off (BUT that depends on where you live and of course what you need done, I'm in NYC so I can't drop it off and leave and comeback when done, I need to wait; if I needed time consuming work / parts like the lower block changed on my J35Y6 engine due to the connecting rod recall, I'd need to leave it there and come back when done days later of course, but for fluid changes like oil/atf/differential/transfer case/break/coolant, I would wait.) For my service, they got to my vehicle quickly and the service was perfect and took the exact amount of time to do it right. I'll be coming back for service for both of my vehicles going forward. I'm coming from NYC and getting there is very convenient especially if you take the I95 to 280W. I have nothing but praise for Derrick and his team!
