I'm way overdue giving Elsy a shout out and was reminded about them when I noticed them listed as my service center on a carfax email. I think my last time in was Spring 2020, and things were chaos in northern NJ around then... I'm pretty sure my first stop at the shop was for some silly repair and I opted to just wait in their seating area for a couple hours. My first time there I saw something that made me really appreciate how this shop operates. A lady had an issue with her car and the folks called around a bunch of scrapyards/used parts options, finding the cheapest parts in like Long Island or something, and could have gotten it there in time to repair same day. She couldn't afford it, and they pitched a financing option. They straight up refused to just replace the tire because a damaged rim would just tear it apart and whatever the underlying mechanical issue it had was unsafe to be on the road. A sketchy place might be fine with making a sale, but seeing how hard they tried to get her safely back on the road made me trust I wouldn't be upsold or lied to. Elsy does a lot of fleet maintenance, so their parking and lifts often have vans in them. They're also a "tire shop" but don't let that dissuade you if you need more than new tires and brakes. I've had them do all sorts of non-tire repairs and maintenance on my abused Honda - engine mounts, A/C leak, wheel bearing, oil changes... If you decide to wait for your car there, they have a coffee maker, a TV, and wifi. If you need to get to the train station down the road, they'll either call an uber or drop you off so you can get wherever you need to be. It's not as fancy as getting your work done at a dealership, but they offer basically the same perks. The Yelp tag is also very correct in this being a family operation - Jose and his son Chris were so nice and knowledgeable, and really make you feel like family. I hope the old man is enjoying his time with his granddaughter more than hanging out in the shop! I would actually avoid this place if possible. I came in in December with a spare on. I ended up need two new tires which they provided. They told me it would be finished that day. Never received a call to pick up my car that day nor did they answer when I called because they were "closed".. picked it up the next day. The job requested was done however they left me with my damaged tire in my trunk and took my spare tire in return without mentioning anything! On top of it a package of clothing went missing from my car as well as random spare change in the cup holder, so I can't even be surprised about my missing spare considering everything else. Absolutely incredible. Brought my car in as a first time customer because my car started making a strange noise. They not only diagnosed the problem, but found out it was under a super hidden warranty from the manufacturer as the result of a lawsuit. They helped me get my entire engine replaced from the manufacturer for FREE, saving me thousands. When I brought the car back after the engine was replaced they then did everything the dealership offered to do for a quarter of the price. Needed my tire replaced and was close to my gym and had good reviews. People were friendly and did good work. One and a half star deduction for timing as called ahead to see about wait times and was told come over as could see me immediately (not true, they were so busy they were trying to get more guys to come in). After about 20 minutes asked if it would be much longer as I was thinking I would go down the street and get something to eat. I complain about this place. It's not perfect but they have served me quite a few times getting my tires, tire insurance claims on the tires that I had before. They did a little work for me on my car as well. They could've did better on the price point but what can you say they're not pet boys. My husband suggested that I take my new (used) car to Elsy Discount Tire Pros to get a checkup before we took her on the road. During that visit, they gave her a checkup and replaced a few tires. Fast forward a few months, my new (used) car was acting pretty strangely (weird beeps, red lights, scary stuff) and once again Elsy was the place to go. They got her fixed up just right and made sure that if there was any work that needed to be done outside of the original work, I got a call to authorize it. I found ELSY after going to another auto center (ZapLube) for a synthetic oil change and were charging $75. I thought that was outrageous, so I looked for places with discounts on line. ELSY is a Goodyear Auto Center, so I found a $10 off coupon for synthetic oil changes through the Goodyear site. I called them up and a very nice lady, Linda, answered. She told me their price is $55 for a synthetic change and the coupon I have will make it $45. Sold. I went there at 12:45 and by 1:15 I was all done. The prices are all listed, Linda was true to her word and accepted the coupon no problem. Everyone I spoke to was nice, helpful, and professional. They didn't try to sell me anything I didn't want. It is a little daunting when you first walk in because it's not a fancy place....no one would really talk to me until I found the office, kind of dirty, one couch facing a soccer game with random workers sitting there.....but hey, its a mechanic, what do you expect. Once I was in, they made me feel at home right away. I liked that there was a place you can pull in, instead of leaving your car parked on a sidewalk like some smaller places. I also liked the fact they give you an iPad to enter your info yourself while you wait....instead of some guy behind a computer firing questions at you. The $10 off coupon also included a free tire-rotation, which I wasn't set on getting, so I didn't bother making it a point to have it done. When they finished with the oil change, one of the guys at the desk noticed the language on the coupon and right away said, "Oh, let me get your car back on the lift and I'll rotate the tires for you....its the right thing to do." To top it all off, they vacuumed my interior (even though I've been meaning to do it for months now and was filthy when I brought it in). Not bad for $45! read more

Needed to replace my tires and decided to give this place a try based on other positive reviews on Yelp. I was very glad I did! Jose was very nice, professional, and he truly cares for his customers. I only needed to change 3 tires but decided to do all 4 as we figured out that saved more money and I will have a better set of tires. He personally took care of my tire rebate form and promised to mail it out the very next morning. He also checked and pointed out to me several other issues with my car caused by improper servicing from other places (one of them is SEARS AUTO at Newport Mall) and told me what I needed to do to take care of them. In my time of need, Elsy Tire and Auto Center was there for me. I was referred to them by someone who could not replace a gas tanks. This wonderful auto shop was a heaven sent. They took my car in and replaced my gas tank with a brand new one. That was one of my problem they fixed. The other was the lug stud. You would think the stud was the only thing that needed to be replaced but no, it was the entire rotor. Thanks Honda...... I must say, the young lady's there know their job extremely well and their customer service is/was AMAZING. Wow, these guys were tremendous and I highly recommend them for many, many reasons. In my case, I was driving from NC to CT and hit a monster pothole 1/2 mile south of Exit 15 on the car-only side. My tires PSI rocketed to zero, traffic was racing by and with guidance from the 911/tow truck driver I drove off the highway at 30 MPH following him. Google Maps found me Elsy Discount Tire Pros so I immediately went to it. While there, I met Jose Gomez who was fantastic from the start! Bilingual, happy and customer focused, I couldn't have been pleased even though I was stuck in Newark, NJ just two hours from my home in Connecticut. Unfortunately, Elsy didn't have my tire in stock (run-flats on Mercedes E300) but Jose offered to get a driver to drive over 50 miles to pick up a single tire for a small up-charge of $50. Trust me, I would've paid three times that amount to get on my way! At 3PM Jose launched his driver and traffic was building. I loved how Jose quickly identified the problem but also CAME UP WITH A SOLUTION. This was a no brainer so I read and drank hot chocolate in their waiting area. Jose showed compassion as if I were a family member. He knew I was stuck then jumped through big hoops to get me on my way. Remember, I met this guy 20 minutes ago but felt like I've know him for 20 years!
