Before the installation, I shared my concerns below with the sales person/installer: 1. The size of the inwall speakers the recommended would not likely reproduce the full range of sound desired (especially midrange frequencies) 2. The soundstage produced by the front three speakers needed to anchor vocals to the faces onscreen - not localized to a speaker (especially not to the center channel located below screen). 3. I wanted clean but very strong bass performance that you could feel but not localize to a point in the room. After the installation I received a full demo and sure enough - they failed on all three points. - There is minimal midrange reproduction - The voices are localized on the center channel speaker (despite adjustments) - The powered subwoofer cost over $1,000, but lacks any real impact and it is easy to place where it is in the room I spent time afterwards with the installer sharing my concerns and asking for adjustments to be made. He made some efforts, but the equipment and configuration still produces very, very thin sound reproduction. There is no full range of deep rich sound in action movies (vehicle engines, explosions, etc.). Music on soundtracks sounds like it is playing out of a hand held radio. I told him I was not satisfied and not happy. All he could offer was to sell me additional speakers (left and right tower cabinet speakers and a second subwoofer), and he would give me credit back for two of the in wall speaker The amp is likely not adequate - should have gone with something higher current (Denon, Marantz or similar?). I trusted my money with their expertise/recommendations, and really feel like I failed to pick the right Home Theater company to accomplish a simple HT set up. The room is a dedicated HT room, only 14'x21' with 10' ceilings. I should have done more research. Lastly - on a personal note, I believe how an installer approaches "wire management" (see photos - no methodology) is an indicator of their attention to detail what standard they set for themselves. There is also a photo of their teeny tiny "premium" in wall speaker.

We moved to Collin Country from Houston in late 1998. One problem in moving is to find good new doctors. The same holds for service people. We've been fortunate in finding good doctors. Less so with service people. We've had our share over the past 23 years, but none stood out until now. I'm talking about Collin County Electrical. They were head and shoulders above the many others we've tried - both in the quality of their work and the fairness of their prices. Rodney was a pleasure to work with. A series of nagging electrical problems had built up while we held home visitors down during the pandemic. As this eased I searched the internet for recommendations and chose to give CCE a try. Called them, they said they were fully booked during the day but could come out that evening after 6pm. Instead, Rodney showed up at 4pm. Quickly solved a circuit problem with a kitchen light, reinstalled a faulty smoke alarm, and put a new carbon monoxide detector in MBR. Since that happened so fast, asked if he had time for some more issues. Said "Sure." Next up was upgrading lights in MBR closet and kitchen pantry from fluorescent to LED. Great improvement. Used existing fixtures. More? Yep!! Having read that smoke alarms should be replaced after 10 years, I had bought them. But, at my senior age, I wasn't about to get up on ladders to try to install them. He replaced six of them, mostly on tall ceilings. All this took under two hours and the final bill was under $500. A prior electrician had quoted $200 to upgrade the MBR closet to LED - he charged $120. On top of all this, this big ex Marine was fun to be around and I knew in advance what everything would cost before I moved on to the next step. CCE will get all my electrical work going forward. He installed electrical circuit, installed security light, and install underground electrical service to shed with switches, receptacles, and lights. Very prompt in responding to our needs, very timely in coming when he committed to come, very pleasant and amicable nature, very good problem-solver, no wasted time, very helpful in moving our stuff to be able to get to what he needed to repair/replace. Even went the extra mile to solve a couple small things that were not on the original estimate. Great problem-solver on a couple difficult things. His estimate was right at or slightly lower than a competing bid so the price is very fair. He responses promptly to text messages. I can't say enough good. Rodney is an experienced professional, he told me when he could schedule my job and he showed up on time to the minute! He relocated an existing fixture, installed two new fixtures and installed a ceiling fan for me, he was very quick, efficient and respectful of my home. I waded through several electrician companies, trying to get reasonable service in a timely manner. Some wanted to charge me extra for whipping out their vaulted ceiling ladder, charge me for a membership scheme, and others wanted to turn my entire house into a construction zone and claimed they would need to put up scaffolding and paint my entire ceiling again after cutting holes for lights. ENTER COLLIN COUNTY ELECTRIC . I called CCE and they had the expertise to know this was a simple straight forward project, no need to for scaffolding or unnecessary paint. Mr Sparky came out, replaced the one beeping, no charge. Now they say I have to pay to replace the defective ones because the warranty ran out one month ago! I argued that they put in defective ones, why didn't they replace them all at once instead of letting my warranty expire? No, they only replace them when the battery goes out. These type of smoke detectors don't have a 9-volt that can be replaced. Supervisor John Whitfield, Customer Value Manager at Mister Sparky got snappy with me so I called the police. His worker walked out and drove away without replacing anything. So, this company doesn't care about pleasing customers, just ripping them off. Be careful of wolves in sheep's clothing. Phillip took the time to actually diagnose the problem. Within minutes of looking around, he spotted a painted-over access cover near the area where I'd had rodent issues. Sure enough, there was a hidden (and improperly installed) connection with loose wires - no junction box at all! He carefully uncovered it, repaired the connections the right way, and restored power using my original floodlight. He was professional, knowledgeable, and fair. He solved a problem others ignored and charged a very reasonable $165. I'd absolutely hire him again and recommend him to anyone who needs an honest, skilled electrician who actually thinks things through.

Very reasonable and professional. Today, we had him come out to check out ceiling fan/light kit, as the switch wasn't working. Long story short, the pull switch on the light had been pulled to off. Yes we felt silly. He said happens a lot :). Did not charge us for his visit, even though he could have, since his time is valuable. His prices are reasonable and he is honest. Then our neighbor recommended Tremmel Electric and I decided to try one more time. We knew we bought an older home with some funky wiring, but we never knew it would be this difficult to troubleshoot. Pete comes in and starts immediately hunting down the issue. As he follows the wiring, he's improving it all along the way. He is one of those rare professionals that appear to ENJOY what they're doing... AND he's good at it! Could not be more pleased. I hate to leave a less than positive review as we absolutely feel Alcorn does high quality work for…read morea reasonable price, but in this instance we simply feel ripped off and will likely not make use of their services again We had Alcorn electric out here (as we have several times before) due to no power to a couple of our outlets. As always, they were professional, polite, and able to get us on the schedule quickly. (One of the outlets that was not working is the one that provides electricity to our tankless water heater). We are first time homeowners and admittedly unfamiliar with all things electric (hence the call to an electrician when we could not determine why several outlets were not working). We had tried the breakers but did not know/think to look for a tripped GFI switch. In less than 10 minutes, Alcorn head located the trip to GFI and push the button. We were then sent an invoice for $150.00 To say we were shocked was an understatement we absolutely appreciate that time is money and have no problem paying for peoples time and professional services.... but in this instance to maintain $150 callout fee when the work required was simply to locate and reset a GFI switch left a very bad taste in our mouths. Even a reduced fee would have been more decent in our opinion. As I mentioned, this is not in any way a reflection on the quality of work and professionalism that Alcorn provides. They have done substantial jobs for us in the past and we have been nothing but pleased. Unfortunately this last encounter has left us searching for a new electrician for future jobs. Alcorn appears to have many positive reviews- all deserved. I am certain this won't impact their business, nor should it. We were just caught off guard by the charge and after asking others in the community their opinion- all were in agreement so we opted to share our experience.

I've since hired him again, and he's now my go-to electrician. Most recently, we lost power to our garage. Jay diagnosed the issue properly (not just a quick fix), found unsafe, outdated wiring in our attic, and replaced the aluminum wiring with copper to make everything safer and more reliable.
