I scheduled a ride to the Ithaca airport and then one back for a week later. The ride up: fine, no problem. On the way home, though, my flight got delayed. I cancelled my orignal ride and reacheduled my pick up for 45 minutes later... and they keep cancelling my ride. I get that it's going to be late now, but they *claim* to be 24/7. So now I'm going to be stranded at the Ithaca airport at 1:30 a.m.??! What am I supposed to do?? read more

terrible driving, terrible driver, asked for a tip, and then gave himself a $10 tip after not helping with any of our bags and driving like a maniac. when we got into the car as well, the driver was telling us he was going to take another party as well and we would have to squish but there was absolutely no space in the car for more baggage or for more people. read more

I think overall the are good! The issue is they don't have quite enough drivers for the demand. So it's helpful to call in advance as they need an hour or more often to get a driver...REmember Ithaca is a small town, yet huge student population ie. no cars. And some trips for reg. folks take them out of town to the next larger areas- like Syracuse etc. Thus they have to wait for folks to come back INTO TOWN. So just plan ahead. And if you find a driver you like- we have too that are awesome (not sharing here so they are avialable,) make note of name and call the day before. Still better than Uber or Lyft- if you need to complain with them- who will you talk to? read more

On June 13th I had a driver who entertained himself while waiting to pick me up from my doctor's appointment by smoking weed. He showed up with all of the windows down and I had to ask him to roll them up because the weather was chilly and the breeze in the back was cold. He had to pull over and resecure my wheelchair when I was forced forward at the traffic light. He had only hooked up the front straps and relied on the slope towards the rear to hold me in place. My driver this afternoon spent his time playing slots and bragging that he is up to $100 a roll. Why is it that the only cab company that gets the wheelchair transportation contracts for Medicaid have such poor quality of drivers? read more

I would have given more stars except they don't EVER seem to have a taxi available; even when I try and schedule it hours in advance. They are less expensive than other options but need more drivers. If they had more drivers I would give 4/5 stars bc they are always on time, cheaper and nice drivers. This morning my ride was canceled suddenly. They sent me a text on that 30 min before the scheduled time. If I didn't notice that, I would miss my flight and whole trip. Luckily I could find another ride from a different company. The reason why my ride was canceled was because the driver was sick, and I understood that. But one thing that I don't understand is that they lied to me that they tried to contact me about the cancellation the day before the ride, but I don't have any records on that in my cell phone. I was so concerned about booking with CTC due to the reviews but had an excellent experience with Ryan. My pick up was at 5am. They take cash, card ir you can pay through the app. Ryan did pick up a second passenger; this was unexpected but it didn't bother me at all. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I had used CTC before for my son who is a student at Cornell and it was fine. I booked this morning's ride from his fraternity to the Syracuse Airport 10 days ago; the pick up time was 9am. My son received a phone call from the driver at 8:52am saying she would arrive between 9am and 9:20am. Given we are 2 days away from Thanksgiving and this is supposed to be a reputable company - which charges more than any other company in the area - , you would think she would arrive a few minutes early to pick him up. I called the phone number on the website - I called the driver three times but she didnt answer - and was told by an Agent at a call center the driver would arrive no later than 9:20am She arrived at 9:28am. No apologies nor reason why she was almost 1/2 an hour late. My son barely made his flight. I will never use them or recommend them again. read more

Don't bother. Booked a very important flight out of Tompkins airport and they cancelled with less than one hour before pickup time saying the driver had to return home for an emergency. No alternate drivers ?? No other cabs available ?? Plus, a pickup at the airport earlier was from a car that was over twelve years old with 200K miles on it - they buy cars at auction !! Forget these people. Call Ithaca Dispatch (formerly University Cab). They have multiple cabs and drivers and were fairly prompt as well. read more

when I was able to get rides, they were prompt and polite. but now, even if I schedule HOURS in advance, they never show up. I have been forced to walk to work (which isn't good because I have bad legs) because I don't have a phone to call other companies. read more

I've only used this cab service once and it was sketchy. I had an early morning flight and when they arrived they already had a passenger in the vehicle and the driver had a "friend" with him. Based on the behavior and appearance of the drivers friend, he was a drug user. I cannot say much more other than use another means to travel, especially if you are traveling by yourself. read more

ralph is the greatest person ever. I ADORE HIM. if any of you need to take this company I highly suggest asking for him. hes so very sweet, and caring, and honest. and unlike alot of drivers, actually cares about you and always has change to break Bill's so you dont end up paying 20$ for a 10$ ride. this company all together is great. based off what I see from the bad reviews it seems like people didnt think about actually calling a-head and planning out their trips but hey.... whatcha gonna do. this company is great. and I recommend them over any other one and seriously, ralph, YOURE THE BEST. BIG FAN. I don't travel to Ithaca that much but when I do I use Collegetown Cab only because I know that when I land from the airport I won't be kept waiting. My favorite driver, Ralph, is always on time and I love punctuality. I have never had a bad ride and the conversation is most definitely entertaining with Ralph - he's a legend. The cab is always clean, I get to play my own music, and I know I am safe in the hands of my driver which is key. Literally, the only company I use since I know I'll get consistency and quality. read more

Called for a 4 am ride a day in advance and it was clear the dispatcher had no idea what he was doing, but he took down my information regardless and told me a cab would be there for me. Long story short - no show. No call or any contact to let me know they wouldn't be coming. Terribly unreliable. read more

Please note this review is for the dispatch team only as the actual cab was so late I ended up taking the bus. I called to schedule a cab half an hour before I needed it. They told me they could do that and even sent me an automated text with my driver's name and the scheduled time. The scheduled time came and went so I called to check on the cab. The first time I got the answering machine. The second time I got through and they put me on hold for 7 minutes while they checked to see where my driver was. When they got on the phone they told me the driver would be there in 15 minutes, half an hour after my scheduled pick up time. I told the dispatcher that they should have warned me of that when I called and he did apologize but kept qualifying it with "we are unexpectedly busy." I understand being busy but this was really disappointing and unfortunately will prevent me from getting a cab from them in the future. Ithaca you can do better - legalize Uber!!! read more

Do not, I repeat do not call collegetown cabs. Have a friend pick you up or get a carshare, or there's only one option - call them 2 hrs before you are supposed to reach at your destination. I called a cab for the airport 1.5 hrs before the flight. The cab did not arrive at time, it arrived 35 minutes late, and guess what, I missed the flight. The cab driver was not helpful at all, the service operator doesn't pick up the phone. This is the worst experience that I have had with the cabs in Ithaca. read more

I moved to Ithaca over the summer and used collegetown cabs shortly after. I had a great experience-called two days before for a 4 AM pickup to take me to the airport and had no issues. The driver was right on time and courteous. Because of this good experience, I decided to use them again a few days ago for another airport pickup. I called more than 24 hours in advance and was told my cab would arrive at 9:45 the next day, as requested. 9:55 rolls around and my cab still had not arrived. I called the dispatcher, who apologized politely for the delay and assured me that it would be just a few minutes. Long story short, I had to call multiple times and the dispatcher was progressively ruder and ruder to me with each call. My cab was 45 minutes late and there was someone else in the cab who was dropped off on the way to the airport. If my flight hadn't been delayed, this cab would have caused me to miss it. This was a horrible experience and I will not be using them again. read more

We have used Collegetown CAB 3 times and they are always on time, friendly, and very pleasant experience. I don't understand these reviews. Just today, I emailed about about a pickup in a couple of hours and within minutes received a response. If you have an early flight and don't want to leave it to chance with Uber, I recommend scheduling it with these guys! read more

I had a really good experience with Collegetown Cab! I had a terrible experience with Ithaca Dispatch (our driver tried to rip us off because she didn't "remember" the prices, conveniently "didn't have any change", talked about how she would have drugs/alcohol while she drove, drove recklessly going fast on turns, picked up other people without letting us know/giving any sort of discount and overall made my 3AM ride to Syracuse Airport a sketchy experience...) so I was really hesitant on using another taxi service. It was probably a bad apple, but it me scared enough to never call them again. I had to do some paper work so I decided to call Collegetown Cab. Collegetown Cab had it's drivers info on the front seat. I called for a 1PM pick-up and the lady answering was swift and efficient, and got my place right in one go. The driver came at just the right time, about 1 minute early. I called for a pick-up from north and a car came in about 15 minutes. Needlessly to say I tipped both drivers well. Politeness and respect goes a long way! I hope you guys don't get jaded by drunk college students, but I really appreciate the service. You definitely have a returning customer! read more

I've been using this company for about 3 yrs and I will not be using this company again! They can never decide on a price to charge you. For example- I live less than 2 miles from my job and they'll charge me $7.74 to get there and then try to charge me $12 to go back home! I shouldn't have to call to have it corrected almost every time I take the cab. Today they charged me $7.74 to go from my home to my daughters doctor's appointment. Then charged me $8.18 to go back home 2 hrs later (same place, same distance) and told me that the price went up due to gas prices! So the gas prices went up in a 2 hr time period?! I will be taking Cortland Silver Star taxi from now on as they charge a flat city rate of $6.00 with no surprises AND they take cards. This is not a complaint against the driver but a complaint against the company itself! And they wonder why they keep losing drivers and customers read more

Really, don't bother. I called mid-day and was told a cab would be there in 15 mins. After 15 mins, I called back and got a rude dispatcher ... who at that point got around to placing the order for my ride. Cab eventually showed up 45 minutes after I first called (and confirmed that the order wasn't placed until 15 mins after my initial call), drove me 10 mins to my location, and then couldn't break a five dollar bill. If they had just been honest about the arrival time, that would have helped; I waited outside in 25F windy weather. read more

This was my first and only time using a cab service in Ithaca, and it went better than I could have expected! I scheduled a cab on Friday afternoon to pick me up on Saturday morning at 5AM for the airport. I went on their website and you can book a cab through phone number or online; it clearly says to do it at least 4 hours in advance. When you reserve online, it says you will get a confirmation email, but I never received one. It could've been a glitch. I called after making the online reservation just to confirm they got it. On Saturday morning I called again at about 4:30AM to make sure my reservation was still good...I was nervous after seeing so many reviews on here about their driver being late. Mine was there a couple minutes early and dropped me off smoothly! I would recommend them for pre-scheduled cab rides, but perhaps they're not reliable when you call for a cab on the spot. read more

Called them one day in advance for a trip from the Triphammer area to the Ithaca Bus Terminal. The operator was professional and efficient in helping me book a taxi. Next day the taxi arrived a few minutes early right outside my apartment (they did not call me when the taxi arrived though, so make sure you keep an eye on the taxi). The driver was also very nice. I took a cab with Shawn Murray, where my phone fell in the backseat. My boyfriend and I repeatedly called and he said he did not see it. When we called the office they said Shawn was at Wal-Mart. We went on Find my iPhone where we saw my phone was abandoned at a local gas station. When we searched we heard my phone was in the dumpster in a Wendy's bag... with his Wal-Mart receipt. We gave Shawn the benefit of the doubt and I cannot speak for all the workers of the cab company, but if they send you Shawn I would recommend you ask for someone else. read more

I don't know how Collegetown is in Ithaca, but they have no business driving in Cortland. I do have to say for them that the vehicles are clean and the drivers are friendly but as far as service goes that is another matter! I used them to ride to and from work, a 8:30 and a 3:30 pick up Mon-Fri. at first it was very good, but after a few week it started not being so good. they were always late in the afternoon and when you would call to find out how loge would the wait be you would always get voice mail. I went along with the poor service until this week when I was left hanging for over an hour two days this week. Yesterday they told me they had no Cortland drivers and I would have to find another ride. I felt devalued as a daily customer so I did find another ride and cancelled my daily rides with them. read more

I was sent to the wrong place, asked to pay the tip, and then realized they got everything messed up. I called the cab company to complain but they just hung off immediately. I can't believe it. I haven't used the service myself, but I had one of their drivers cut me off and make a right turn in front of me from the left lane (I was already in the right turning lane). Could have hit me if I hadn't stopped. I definitely wouldn't want to be in the car with one of their drivers. I did contact their customer service about this incident. They, at least, were courteous and willing to help resolve the problem, so I'm giving them two stars. read more

I had 2 4AM trips planned for the airport on back to back days, so I booked the night before for each one. The first day, the taxi arrived as expected. It was nice that they texted you a confirmation of your reservation and when the driver is on the way. Not as nice as ride-sharing tracking, but good enough. The second day, the taxi was delayed around 10 minutes. There was some issue at their depot, which is understandable, so I wasn't particularly affected. Both times, I reached the airport on time with no other problems. More expensive than ride sharing, I found, but a perfectly good alternative when you want to schedule a ride ahead of time. One complaint I had is their dispatcher is pretty quiet, and hard to hear over the phone. It would be nice if they spoke a little louder. read more

Generally the cabs in Ithaca can be a little iffy regarding when they show up, so it's advisable to call at LEAST an hour early, from my own experience. Called at 7:00 AM and was told a cab would be picking me up in 15 minutes. Perfect, I think - enough time to get my son on the bus and still get to work only marginally late. After 40 minutes the cab hasn't shown up and I've missed the first bus I can take in to work, so now I'm more than an hour late. I called and asked when the cab would arrive, and the dispatcher just told me "they're on their way" and hung up. 5-10 minutes after that phone call I received a text saying that the ride at 6:59 AM was scheduled. Dispatcher called me back and asked if I still needed the cab at 8:00 AM. I cancelled and opted to take the bus in late, as I'll spend significantly less money at this point. Not worth. read more
