I recently came back to Ithaca after graduating five years earlier and had to hit up CTB. Though they moved across the street from where they were during my college days, they maintained the CTB vibe that students know and love. The new space is much larger and they had a lot more to go options than I remembered. I got a vegan chicken salad on a rosemary sea salt bagel. I never noticed their vegan options when I used to frequent CTB as a student, but I'm sure they were there. Regardless, it was fantastic. They have many vegan and vegetarian options, sandwiches on a bagels, breads, or wraps, and everything inbetween. They also have beer and wine available. The cashier takes your phone number and they text you when your order is ready, which is a more orderly process than when they would just call out orders before. There is tons of indoor and outdoor seating and though it looked pretty full when we came, the indoor seating was all wide open and there were many tables outside as well. CTB has always been a staple in Collegetown and it makes me happy to see it thriving in its new location. read more

All things considered (Ithaca's isolated location, for example...), CTB is a good go to spot. Nice cafe vibes with different pockets and types of seats inside depending on what you're looking for -- you can even sit on cushions in the window area! Studying is also a vibe here. Food: I've gotten the Cali bagel w/ red peppers instead of red onions and hazelnut oat milk latte both times. Food is quite expensive but so is everything in Ithaca, so besides that, I would say my bagel and coffee were good. I also tried the sausage, egg, cheese one but I don't like sausage much, so I thought it was okay. A must go to. This place is amazing. Breakfast or brunch, sober or hungover- their food is awesome. They offer sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches, all kinds of drinks, and even have a bakery and a little bar in there too. It's much larger than it looks from the outside. It has outdoor seating and is pretty COVID friendly. I have an allergy to nuts and they took note and took any precautions they could to prevent contamination while making my breakfast sandwich. They were pretty busy and one of my friends had to wait a bit longer for their breakfast sandwich, but trust me it's worth every second of the wait. read more

I have also tried a couple of their desserts and those are quite good. I appreciate that they offer quite a few vegan options for sandwiches and baked goods as well. Every time I have been here it's been pretty crowded, so it does take some time to get your food. I would say ordering online is probably the best move as you can pick it up from a convenient window they have on the outside of establishment. Conveniently located a few blocks from the Cornell campus for those looking to grab a quick bite! Coming here will either be overwhelming or exciting because they have so many different options. There is a bar counter, a bakery counter, and a sandwich counter meaning you can get anything ranging from a beer, to a smoothie, cake, sandwich, or bagel. They have at least 10 different types of each item and all the choices are loudly advertised on overhead boards. The whole process of checking out was confusing, because you order at one counter, pay at another, and pick up at another. I ordered a smoked salmon everything bagel with onion, tomatoes, cream cheese, and capers. They were very generous with the capers, but not so generous with the smoked salmon. The bagel was excellent though. Overall, it was a tasty sandwich, though the toppings could have been more generous. I liked how they had convenient indoor and outdoor seating! My best friend went to Cornell and for years I have heard her profess her love for Collegetown Bagels. Well, she was RIGHT!! In a span of 4 days, we ate here four times because it was just that good. The menu is beyond extensive and offers breakfast and lunch/dinner options at all hours of the day. They also provide excellent coffee choices and delicious pastries. My favorite was the Hawaiian pizza bagel, but I also really enjoyed the bronx breakfast bagel as well. And let me tell you, no matter what you're getting, you need it on a rosemary salt bagel. It's been some time since I've been to CTB because I live in Atlanta, GA, but when I have the opportunity, I always make sure I stop by CTB for several cups of their bread pudding and a couple of slices of their tiramisu. CTB is the go-to for a quick bite, socializing and studying in this area, especially considering how close they are to Cornell University and student housing. With high traffic throughout the day, you can expect a little bit of a wait to place your order. The sandwiches here are average at best, but that's not the reason I frequent CTB. I frequent CTB because of their bread pudding dessert. I also had their tiramisu, and the flavors are everything you'd expect from an Italian dessert. The soft buttery ladyfingers are soaked in espresso, then generously layered with a slightly sweet, yet creamy cream. With two layers of lady fingers and two layer of cream caressed together, then dust with coca powder provides a rich note to this dessert. Your pallet will be consumed with the creaminess, slightly sweet and with a hint of bitterness in every bite. Of all the places I've ever had bread pudding, this place takes the cake. The bread pudding, baked in individual clay cups are moist and slightly gooey on the inside, but the outside is baked to a crisp. A layer of caramel is drizzled on top and cascade on the side of the bread pudding, seeping into the bread adding a hint of caramel sweetness to the nutty, yet cinnamon-y, egg-based dessert. I was very excited to try this place. Unfortunately for me it was a major disappointment. I went during early evening, the place wasn't empty (assumed to be a good sign). The ordering/seating area is slightly uncomfortable, specially on a cold day when the patio cannot be use. They do have patio warmers which were not been used. We ordered two Olympian wraps because their description sounded appetizing (Free Range Chicken breast, Feta cheese, fresh spinach, black olives, tomato & balsamic vinaigrette dressing, in a sun-dried tomato wrap). Once we got to tried out it tasted weird. Some sort of bitterly flavor. After a couple of bites into it realized that it tasted like coffee. My best guess is that they mistakenly put coffee instead of balsamic vinegar. We complained and got another wraps. However, the damage was already done. I still cannot erase the perturbed flavor of coffee-chicken.Chances are I won't ever stop in this place again. read more

I have a love-hate relationship with Collegetown Bagels. Being from Long Island, it is hard to compare to the bagels that I am used to from home. I once ordered a Bacon Egg and Cheese on an Everything (Long Island) Bagel, and it was good, but it wasn't what I was hoping for. Nonetheless, I have returned time and time again to CTB for hungover breakfast's with friends and it is a great place to sit and just enjoy each other's company. My last visit to CTB was a good one, however, I completely forgot how huge their menu is. I have to say I got so overwhelmed waiting on line; did I want a bagel sandwich, a panini, a salad, I was at a loss. By the time I reached the front of the line I decided on the Avocado Toast with a Sagittarius Smoothie (Banana, Spinach, Avocado and Almond Milk). The Avocado Toast was light and delicious and the smoothie was very refreshing. One thing I do love about CTB is how friendly the workers are; they are willing to talk to you about anything and everything while delivering quick and high-quality service! This was my first visit here and was definitely a little overwhelmed. They have a variety of bagels, sandwiches, and pastries. They also had a fridge of cold items. My husband and I definitely felt overwhelmed by the bustling of college students and everyone else seemed to know what they were ordering. The staff there were friendly and patient while we decided on the bagel flavors we wanted. We ended up with a variety of bagels and both plain & veggie cream cheese. I was excited to try the jalapeño cream cheese but they were unfortunately out. My husband I were both excited to try it when we got home and they was delicious. The bagel was both chewy and soft which is just how I love my NY bagel. I would definitely return if I was back in the area in the future. read more

I got their Aquarius drink which was coconut and mandarin French soda- think orange creamsicle that you had as a kid (except this is a drink!). Very good! I would recommend spinning your drink for a bit to mix up the coconut with the soda every time before you take a sip. I got their sun dried tomato bagel with their garlic and herb(?)cream cheese - soooo good I finished the entire thing and I rarely eat bagels. Their menu is pretty intimidating, so take a few minutes to digest it before you get in line to order otherwise you'll hold off the line for others. Bagel was just OK, both croissants came out burned but I guess thats how food comes out according to the pictures people post. While "bagels" are in the name- and they are great NY style ones- the menu is greatly expanded including sandwiches, salads, bowls, smoothies, coffee bar and desserts. Everything we've tried we've liked. Prices are fair and while the line is confusing the first time you go, the staff keep you moving along and are helpful! Coming from NYC it's hard to find bagels that meet expectations. Somehow CTB, the Cornell staple, has found a work around that works for me! They have a loooong and somewhat confusing menu that ranges from simple bagels to full fledge sandwiches. The bagels themselves are good, not NYC good, but much better than most places. Honestly their forte are the bagel and sandwich creations which are creative and fill any desire. My personal favorite are the adult pizza bagel which makes my inner child happy. In terms of drinks, you can get a wide range of local drinks. Think of it as a one stop for snacks, be it a local bottled CBD soda or an afternoon pick-me-up smoothie. They also make coffee, which is meh, but on the way to class it's super convenient. Once again their forte is the Collegetown vibe, particularly the Sunday bagel and sangria on the patio. read more

As soon as I walked into CTB, I couldn't help but notice how cozy and inviting the place looked, with their endless menu items adorning the blackboards in a rainbow of colors. After you order at the counter, you have the option to take your food to-go or have it delivered to your table if you choose to stay. Thankfully, I was able to order and grab a seat right away, but i can imagine this place getting extremely crowded during weekends or peak meal times because space is on the tighter side. After a good 5 minutes of probing the endless combination of bagels and toppings, my best friend and I finally settled on the Cali Sunrise on a Rosemary Salt bagel, and the Vegetarian on a Long Island. They are known to be CTB favorites, so I knew we couldn't go wrong with them-- and they delivered! The Vegetarian was topped with vegetable cream cheese, tomato, and muenster (my personal favorite!), and those three ingredients created the most delicious cheesy + creamy combination! My favorite, however, was the Cali Sunrise, which had smooth, creamy avocado, scrambled egg, red onions, and melted goat cheese. Those paired with the rosemary salt bagel were the perfect balance of aromatic and savory goodness. One thing I noticed was that the avocado didn't look as fresh as I had hoped (it was slightly brown along the edges), but the bagel tasted amazing nonetheless. My friend insisted that I try the raspberry jalapeño jam, so we got some on the side. Although I was a bit skeptical at first at the untraditional combo, after one taste I was immediately in love. I put it on the Cali Sunrise, and the added sweetness and slight jalapeño kick that made it oh-so-heavenly. No matter what you order, I highly recommend you try the jam! I also noticed that they have quite a few vegan options as well, so there is a little something for everyone here. CTB is definitely going to be an obligatory stop everytime I visit Cornell. (p.s.
