I started buying guns at the original location in "76 when guns were cheaper.Got exactly what I wanted at decent price. Forward to 2020, Had an old 1911 I bought cheap $75. Mister Bernal gave me $3500 trade value on it. Got some really good pistols for that much. Later he gave me twice what I paid for an old Winchester and bought an old framed picture Of General John J. Called to see about a gun that they had advertised online and spoke to a lady but she seemed pre-occupied with something else, probably her cell phone . She asked for the gun # which I gave her and she said I needed to speak to someone in another department, so she transferred me. A man answered and asked me the gun # which I gave him and after speaking with him for a moment he said I had to speak with someone in another department as the lady transferred me to the wrong department. Was transferred over to someone else and he asked for the gun # which I gave him (third time now). He said that he could not answer my question but he said he would put me on hold and speak with someone else about it. He put me on hold and I waited about 15 minutes - no one ever picked up so I finally gave up and hung-up. Terrible customer service and will never inquire about one of their guns again! read more

I would find another place to shop, if you can. Tried to put a firearm in my name. A gift. It was the worse experience. There are some trick questions on 4473. Not trick but the language is tricky. I asked for some guidance and it was refused to me. In a very rude manner. I have called other gun stores in the area and they tell me that especially for a first time gun owner, Collectors should have provided a little guidance. I had an older pistol and needed a magazine for it. After searching the internet I found one at Collectors Firearms. The price was fair so I called to order it. The salesman was courteous and helpful. It arrived a few days later and was in even better condition than I expected, almost brand new condition for a gun not imported since 1968. The packing was professional also. I really would have given the 5 stars except for the shipping policy. They wanted $40.00 to ship a two once item with no insurance. It was a blanket rate for any package. A simple bubble envelope and it could likely be less than $10.00. To pay 40.00 shipping on a $45.00 item is not easy to swallow. Truly, seems like a museum, but most of the modern firearms are for sale. I'm from California, so there are a few used semi-automatic's that I am interested in having a CA FFL purchase for me. There are some beautifully engraved high end shotguns on consignment. I wish I had unlimited funds. Salespeople seamed knowledgeable and very friendly without being bothersome. I told Adolfo what I was looking for what I wanted, and he showed me a few guns that he felt would fit me and my personality, and he showed me how to use it he was very patient very knowledgeable and we had fun with it. I put several rifles on consignment and they sold them in a timely manner. The only complaint I have is they treat the sale price as income for me and issue a 1099-MISC tax form wich requires you to pay full price income tax on the sales. Not taking into consideration the price I paid for the guns. I was told from the IRS they should be using a 1099-K form that lets you deduct my original cost. And I should't even need one if the sale was under the $5,000 threahold. Other than that, it's a great business to deal with. I won't be selling guns there anymore though. The folks working there are great to work with. I believe everyone can agree with that. read more

Collectors Firearms moved into the old Barnes and Noble location on Westheimer last year. There is plenty of parking in front and it's needed because this firearms store is HUGE! It's 20% museum and 80% gun store. Inside with its 30' ceiling there are numerous collections and artifacts on the walls, hanging from the ceiling and free standing on the floor. Of course all these are firearm, hunting and military related. Seriously, if you aren't shopping for a firearm this place is still worth a visit to walk around look. That is the museum part that I mentioned above and it's free admission, of course. If you are shopping for a firearm, Collectors Firearms has to be the largest gun store in the greater Houston area. It carries new and used firearms and most of the used ones are vintage collectibles that are expensive. If you are looking for a cheap used gun this place is probably not worth your time. The inventory of firearms is impressive especially with regard to long guns. There are racks and racks and racks full of rifles, carbines and shotguns. Along with that is a large selection of handguns in glass display cases too. Finally they also sell ammo along with gun accessories like mags, gun cases, cleaning supplies, optics and other parts. It is an impressive store that is worth your time to visit. Prices are above average though but the selection they have is superior. read more

This place is like a playground for folks into classic firearms. You could literally spend hours in here and still not have seen everything. I've always found the staff to be friendly, though as other reviews have pointed out you will most likely have to ask for help as opposed to being asked if you need it. Still, their collection of classic and antique firearms is second to none in the Houston area. Having said all that, this isn't the kind of place where you come to find a bargain (or often even a reasonable price). That goes double if the gun you are interested isn't a collectible. For example, I see they currently have a gen 5 Glock 23 advertised at $720. These guns can be had all day long in other Houston gun stores for at least $100 less. I hate to advise someone to browse and handle guns they may be interested in at one store and then go to another to purchase, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Folks out there who may be looking for a gun to protect their homes and families and aren't really "gun people" can't afford to be taken advantage of and may not realize they can pay significantly less somewhere else. Collectors Firearms has the largest, best-curated selection of guns in Houston. They have antique, niche, and otherwise out-of-production firearms you won't find in store anywhere else in town. Access to such a wide selection of firearms you can physically inspect before purchasing comes at a literal price, though, as they are on the expensive side. Often, you'll pay MSRP or higher for used guns which you could buy new for less anywhere else (presuming the other places even have them). However, if you're *selling*, they also pay you more fairly than pretty much any other brick and mortar I've been to. If you know exactly what you want and why, and can also find it new elsewhere, do that and save yourself some money. If, however, you want to browse a museum-class collection or are looking for an extremely hipster Gucci gun you don't also want to buy sight unseen, Collector's Firearms is a safe bet. Service is excellent, for a gun store. When the Barnes and Nobles at Westheimer and Voss finally kicked the bucket the location was empty for a while....until these guys recently moved in. This store is not just a gun lovers dream, but a history lovers dream, as well. If all you want to do is ogle old guns that are anywhere from 100 to 400 years old.... After nearly an hour and a half I'm leaving without my purchase. I worked with I believe his name was Reef, this was the name on his shirt but I didn't get his name verbally, and picked out an option that worked best for myself as a first time owner. Unfortunately their internet went out right before I was ready to finalize my purchase. This was out of their control understandably but what wasn't was how they responded to the situation. Instead of running my information via tablet then needed to switch to paper forms and the curly haired woman was completely lost. If you make a mistake then you start over and I had to fill out 3 sheets because of lack of instruction then was told finally told I couldn't even finish because they needed internet to run my background. I've been to this business several times over the years. I took one of my grandfather's old guns to be looked at. They checked it out and told me what they thought...and after doing my own research, found they were right. It's true that their collectible guns sell at a premium, some more than others. I like that before they put a used gun on the rack for sale they go over it and give a good description of the condition on the sales tag. I've always been greeted when I first come in and if I later have a question then someone will help me. I recently purchased an old lever action rifle from there, and yes, they did come down on the price some after I asked. I also like that they provided a free 1 year policy to repair my gun as well.
