    Alcapurria

A lot has changed since they remodeled or changed ownership. The case is nice and the food looks fresh but the taste is slightly different. Before I would rush to get there early for my alcapurrias but now I don't even like them. The meat taste different, more sweeter/tangy and the outer banana is more tough as though they have been sitting out for some time or were reheated. No Bueno

Tried this place for lunch once and now I get food from there at least once a week. I have tried their yellow rice " arroz con guandulez " and pork chop "chuleta. On another occasion I tried the yellow rice with black beans and the oxtail. Both time food was delicious. Definitely one of the perks of working in New Haven is that there is so many good places to eat. Is not the prettiest place but is cozy and food is delicious. They also have natural juices which are also delicious. The small plate is $6 but they put in so much food that I haven't been able to eat the whole meal. How many times can I write the word delicious lol. Definitely worth trying.

If you are looking for foodie heaven this is it. $20 goes very very far. The servings is abundant. The food is glorious. Pretty hard to find this spot. It's not in the best location in New Haven, but don't let that deter you from the visit. They have parking in the back which I recently discovered, yes this more than 2x now visiting this place. The Spanish food is that good. I can't say any more compliments about it. Come one come all yelpers. This is the best spot for Spanish food in CT.

    Arroz Guandules y Pollo combo

Stopped by this spot for a late lunch and what a great choice. We grabbed our food to go but after getting the medium size combo, I found myself eating three times for the price of one. I ordered the arroz con guandules y pollo combo, and it tasted just like home! I'm rating the restaurant 4/5 because we also ordered all types of the empanadas and they weren't good and tasted pretty stale. However the rest of the food was great and I will be checking them out again next time i'm in town for sure.

I've been coming here for the past couple months. Food is up and down in quality. Workers can really work on fixing their attitude. They seem to have a bias when dealing with other hispanic customers, but with others who aren't Spanish speaking, they seem off-puttish. I have had instances where they've been rude and unprofessional, but today was the last straw. Food was not great (grilled salmon was dry and flavorless), and the person serving me had an attitude. I NEVER walk into an establishment rude to the workers. However, this woman seemed to have an issue. Will not be coming here again.

The food is amazing. The roasted oven chicken is the best. The service is always consistent. I truly enjoy the food and desert as well.

Great food and great staff. Freshest food around. The shakes are beyond delicious. The pork is flavorful and soft.

Yelp really did its thing with this recommendation. I was searching for a Dominican breakfast spot…read moreafter a doctor's appointment and came across Sabor Sajoma Kitchen & Market and I'm so glad I did. They have a hot food section plus a small market with a nice mix of Latin and Asian products, which I loved. It feels like you can grab a full meal and pick up a few pantry staples in one stop. I ordered mangú with fried cheese and onions and it was so good fresh, flavorful, and exactly what I needed. My mom got white rice, pernil, beans, and sweet plantains. She kept saying how well seasoned the meat was and was genuinely happy with both the portion size and the price (which says a lot because she's picky in the best way). Good food, solid portions, fair prices, and that comforting Dominican flavor that just hits. I'll definitely be coming back.

To start off, the staff is super friendly and I really enjoyed the warm home-y feel of the restaurant. The restaurant is mostly a small grocery store with a wide variety of Latin grocery items and then a hot bar with Dominican staple food items. What I love about this place is that they rotate out their menu items almost daily so there's always something new to try!! I went in hoping to get pepper steak but they didn't have it available. I ordered a beef stew over rice and beans, a side of plantains, a chicken empanada, and a tres leches for dessert. The food was DELICIOUS! I also got a very generous quantity for the price. Everything was so flavorful and the empanadas came with a spicy/ tangy dipping sauce that I also really enjoyed. Can't wait to go back!
