Food was served piping hit and cooked well. Nothing crazy fancy but just good food done well, which after spending 5 nights in the area, is tough to find haha. Best restaurant around! We almost always get the truffle frites as an appetizer. The filet is so tender you can cut it with a fork. The sweet potatoes are unlike any I've ever had before and I always order them (sometimes as both my sides). The drinks are very good. We normally don't order dessert but is was delicious, as well! A charming restaurant inside a unassuming building! It's cozy and loud inside which adds life to the atmosphere of the old building. The service was attentive and friendly and always made sure our drinks were full and that we were well taken care of. I got the smoked old fashioned and it was delicious super smooth. For an appetizer we got the toasted ravioli it was very good! For entrees the ribeye was good but I asked for rare and it came out medium and was a bit chewy but that was the only bad thing. The seafood scampi was the best pasta dish I have ever had! And the lemon raspberry cheesecake was the perfect ending to cap it off! Can't wait to come back to this cozy restaurant. read more

The food here is simple but delicious. It is the closest thing to a fiber dining experience in western Missouri/eastern Illinois. I cleaned my plate without feeling heavy. The service here was great and constantly filled up water and was able to accommodate requests for drinks and food. It is very crowded and we could hear convos going on at other tables. I'm finally reviewing Cole's after a third time visiting because I wanted to give it a fair shake, especially since it seems to be well-regarded by many. The ambiance is intimate and wonderful - it's clear ownership really did a great job converting this building into a modern, yet rustic farmhouse. Drinks are always inventive and unique and I've enjoyed their desserts. Unfortunately, I find their food to be very underwhelming for the price, and for this reason, I don't recommend it over other higher-end restaurants in the area. My most recent visit, we ordered the pork belly appetizer to start. I really liked the glaze, but found the pork belly to be very dry and tough to chew compared to other restaurants I've had pork belly at. My husband and I each ordered the steak frites and while it was cooked perfectly, the New York Strip that was pre-sliced ate very fatty and didn't seem to be of great quality. Like other times I've dined here, the potato and vegetable sides are lackluster and come off as an afterthought - the Parmesan truffle fries lacked any seasoning or flavor. I love treating myself to a nice dinner out and most recently came to Cole's for a celebratory night, but was left feeling disappointed again. read more

This is an amazing gem in a small town between Quincy and Hannibal. I would feel secure saying it's one of the top couple restaurants for 75-100 miles in any direction (the other top contender being Maine Course in Quincy. The space is beautifully lit and decorated, service is attentive and accurate, and the cocktail program very strong. The young bartender hustled with very smooth execution and big-city confidence. There are food options to suit anyone's tastes-highly recommend steak, pork belly, and considering whatever special is on the menu. Tonight (8/5/22) four of us ate here. First of all the food & service was excellent. The place is very nice. It must be a remodeled farm house (very well done). My wife & I both had filets, appetizers, and desserts. What I did not like: salad not included in meal price, poor selection of potatoes (i.e. No baked, etc.), no bread of any type was served, & no ice was added to the water (thus gets warm quickly) The meal for two of us was well over one-hundred dollars plus a tip ($128). For this price not to serve bread is inexcusable. Also the dinner salad, in this region, not being included is not appropriate. All that said I would go back again but the improvements mentioned above would be good additions. read more

This place was delicious. Not one complaint from our group of 8 people. The steaks were cooked correctly and had great flavor. The sides of potatoes and yams were perfectly seasoned. The carbonara was tasty. I ordered the beef stroganoff (the daily special when we went) and was blown away. Not many places do a good beef stroganoff and this was excellent. It had chunks of meat and a thick mushroom sauce, served with a dollop of sour cream. My only regret is that was a special and therefore not readily available when we go back. read more

Food was well beyond my expectations! The grilled Caesar tasted lightly chargrilled with perfect amount off of delicious in-house dressing and fresh Parmesan, the pork belly appetizers were so good we got a second order , my steak was grilled perfectly and even the brownie was special at the end . I can honestly say everything was just slightly over the top in a special way , just attention to detail and delicious! These. People . Care . About . Food . We were driving through Missouri and found this place. It's beautiful! It was a hospital during the civil war. The food is amazing!! The Caesar salads are grilled and the filet and salmon are the best we've had! The smoked maple man-fashioned (lol) was so good! Kristy was so fun and made our night! My husband and I along with my daughter Dined at Cole's on 12 February. We were dismayed to see a special Valentine's Day menu that was at best limited and at worst price gouging. When we made our reservations there was no mention of a special menu for Valentines weekend. My daughter ordered the chicken which came out rubbery. We had to send it back which caused our visit there to be much longer than anticipated. Bottom line we were disappointed after positive experiences there. Review from first experience at Cole's. It was a very pleasant experience! The service is wonderful. Grilled shrimp is so delicious! It has the most amazing flavor! My husband enjoyed the salmon, very much, as well. My only sadness is that you get barely any vegetable. I wish it was even a whole serving. I ordered a salad in addition to my shrimp, so I got some greenery. I do not care for potatoes, of any kind, so I gave those to my husband. He loooved mine and his. Our drinks were always kept filled by our polite server. The restaurant is clean, including restrooms. We have been here several times. It is so nice having an upscale restaurant in Palmyra. The urban cowboy I had was cooked perfect and tasted wonderful.
