This is a nice family restaurant. Open 7-2 daily. They serve breakfast all day. Our server was efficient and helpful. We arrived too close to closing (1:20 pm) to get the fried chicken. She said it takes 20 minutes to cook. It's good to know they make it to order. I had the open faced roast beef sandwich with brown gravy and potatoes. It was just what I expected. The roast was tender and delish. It comes with cole slaw and no substitutions. That's okay. The coleslaw was AMAZING! We both thought it was the best thing on the table. My wife had eggs, a biscuit, hash browns and gravy. She could finish it all. The gravy was good. She thought the biscuit was a bit too sweet. I did not. Great breakfast diner! I did subtract a star, because they seem to have a very disorganized seating process. People just kind of gathered in no order, and there was no one taking names or even addressing the waiting guests. We finally had to go grab someone and ask how we get put on the waiting list. Besides that one negative, the rest of our experience was great. Our server was darling, and I appreciated that she let us know right from the start that the kitchen was a little slow, and she hasn't forgotten about us in the meantime. It did take about 20 minutes to get the food, which was no big deal. Amongst our group, we had pancakes, the breakfast skillet, and the one weirdo in the group had the big ol' steak burger for breakfast. Everything was hot, put together well, and very tasty. Portions were decent; we definitely didn't leave hungry. Prices are on par with other breakfast diner type places. The place seemed clean, maybe a little dated (but that's part of the small town diner charm, right?). I didn't visit the bathroom to check out those facilities. They serve breakfast all day, so that's a GREAT start. I ordered the Reuben Omelette which was OH SO GOOD! The corned beef was minced tiny, making it easy to eat and they served it with Thousand Island dressing on the side. Who'da THUNK!?!? But the combination of the flavors inside an egg wrapping was AWESOME! I like that they served the English Muffins with butter on the side. You want them buttered, go ahead? You don't, fine... The service was good. The place was hoppin', so the food took a little while to come out, but understandably so, and well worth the wait. Great place to stop for good eats! read more

This is a family owned business and their staff was more than disrespectful in front of customer! While sitting at my table all I could hear is one staff member using profanity and complaining about other customers and their kids making messes! I thought this was completely unprofessional and when I spoke to management about my concerns they said that it would be handled and when they thought I couldn't hear them I heard management and staff say if they have such a problem they could go somewhere else! This place was awesome! Greasy Spoon with incredible food. I wouldn't go there is I was watching what I eat that day though. I had a chicken fried steak sandwich with a side of sausage gravy to dip it in. I'm almost embarrassed to admit I gave into such an unnecessary indulgence, but it was as stupid tasty as one might imagine. Cheap as heck as well. Had breakfast here on the recommendation of Hannibal locals. Good food and lots of it for a reasonable price. Service was fine. Main issue I had was that I had to walk through the smoking section to get to the non-smoking section. Missouri does not have a non-smoking law and many towns haven't adopted their own. I travel a lot all over the country and rarely run into this except in my home state of Missouri. Ordered biscuits and gravy (shared with wife), eggs, sausage patties and whole wheat toast. The food is good, though they run out of popular items by the end of day. The decor is circa 1970, and service is more "home-townie" than prompt. Expect to wait while your meal is prepared to order, and you'll be rewarded with fresh, generous portions. The ornery waitress was NOT happy to be serving me and my daughter on our drive though Hannibal (the half-way point from Chicago to Lawrence KS). She was happy as can be with the locals sitting at tables around us, but it was like she flipped a switch and was downright hostile with us. If the food had been good I would have tolerated the chip on her shoulder, but as it was less than mediocre, we will stop elsewhere to stretch our legs and grab a biscuit and gravy. read more

The service here sucks!! That's why I haven't eaten here in over 14 years! Same shorty service as it was back then! We had breakfast and the pancakes were hard, bacon wasn't cooked (it looked raw in some places), hash browns were mushy, the only good thing I can say is my eggs were cooked. We had to get up and get our own napkins because the waitress couldn't be bothered to do her job. I had to ask for a refill on my beverage. My child said that her milk tasted sour so she didn't drink it. Then the waitress kept walking past and we were just sitting there waiting on our check and I finally asked for it! So we get up to pay at the desk and the young lady didn't ask us how our meal was or anything just had her hand out for money!
