I visited the Cold Spring Bakery for the first time and it was a lovely visit! It's right in the heart of Cold Spring on Main Street and offers fresh baked goods daily (closed Sunday's). I browsed online before going in-store to see what their selection was, get a sense of what to expect. I learned quickly that the options on their website aren't necessarily the options they'll have when you're in their store. The website is more of a general overview of their offerings, but what's actually available, varies day to day. A wonderful employee helped me from behind the counter. She was very sweet and seemed to have all the knowledge about the bakery and their treats. I told her I'd never been before and she was both patient and accommodating as I made my choices. I decided to get their monster cookie bar (listed as monster cookie dough online) and ginger sandwich cookie. I was hoping to get their glazed twist donut, caramel roll, and double chocolate chunk muffin too, but unfortunately, they didn't have single ones in the case. The muffins were available as a 4-pack, and she told me they freeze well, but we don't have enough room in our freezer, so I couldn't purchase those this time. You can order different sized cakes as well. I also thought the St. Paddy's Day clover cookies kits were so cute, but didn't buy one myself. They currently have both St. Paddy's and Easter baked goods right now - perfect for families with little ones. They also have shelves of fresh bread for those who don't have a sweet tooth. I will be back in the future for some French bread. Both the bar and sandwich cookie were amazing. I ate the sandwich cookie on the day-of purchase. The cookies were chewy and the it tasted like Little Debbie's but way better - there's a lot of cream in the middle though, so that got to be a bit heavy toward the end. I ate the bar the next day and it was equally just as soft as it was when I first got it. Melts in your mouth and left me wishing I had an entire pan of it.

If I could give the Cold Spring Bakery 10 stars, boy would I! Simply the best bakery I've ever been to (and I've been to a lot). No other donut can compare. My go to is the classic sprinkled cake donut - always perfect!

Personally, I find the Cold Spring Bakery a bit overrated, but I'd still recommend them. Is it the best bakery? No. It's a good bakery, with a lot to choose from. There aren't many bakeries left, so it's your only choice in the area. If you go here on a weekend during the summer, be prepared to wait, sometimes up to 20 minutes. Everyone from the nearby Chain of Lakes... vacationers, camp-goers, resort people... comes here for their bakery goods. The prices are a tad bit high on some items when compared to other local bakeries. You'll find fresh donuts and bakery goods... cookies, brownies, bread, cakes, donuts, caramel rolls, eclairs. They have pretty much whatever you're looking for at a bakery. You'll find something to keep everyone happy - cake donuts, chocolate covered long johns with buttercream filling, glazed apple and blueberry pockets, raspberry bismarks, lemon filled bismarks, etc. They'll also make birthday and wedding cakes for you. If you have a sweet tooth, they'll help you to satisfy it.

Maybe the best bakery in Minnesota -- if you're into traditional favorites like Long Johns, kolache, Danish, and donuts.

I love DQ, it's a top 5 fast food restaurant for me. But this particular DQ rarely gets it right. It's always something. I'll start off by saying that the weekday experience is typically much better than nights or weekends. It can be slow at times, but otherwise good. The biggest issue with this DQ is that their hours switch at least 5-6 times a year it seems. Sometimes they are open until 8, 9, 10. Sometimes they just close early it seems. As of 1/10/26 - the big sign outside says "Open year round until 10". That's not true. They close everyday at 8pm now. I tried going last night at 8:10 based on this sign to pull up to a closed for the night DQ. Frustrating, frustrating, frustrating. There are a few other issues that commonly occur here. One of the most frequent is their intercom/drive thru system. It has to be 20 years old it seems. It just broadcasts into the building and not through a headset, so communication back and forth can be quite the struggle. Service is typically decent, but it's not something to write home about. Most people are friendly. The food is usually accurate, but I would say temps fluctuate quite a bit. However, the picture below shows one such instance it wasn't. I ordered a deluxe cheeseburger to find it to be a bun and two patty's. Nothing else. I had some ketchup packets in my car and made it work, but I didn't have time to wait another 15 minutes in the line for them to fix it. I also wish that you could do drive thru pick up for online orders. The only option is to go inside. I love DQ, and will still go here, but I wish it reflected what other DQ experiences are typically like. This location has lots of potential, and it would tremendously benefit from a major modern retrofit.

Got to the counter to order and it's just 4 employees standing there talking to each other and one of them eating a popsicle. Finally after 2 minutes of standing there I had to ask if I could order and they all gave me and the person I was with a blank look like I was bothering them, not to mention it looked like the place hasn't been cleaned in awhile (spoons and a couple receipts on the counter, flies all over the place and dirty floor) never again.

We hit one of these a few years ago in Florida, so we wanted to hit it here. We ordered the classic 6 pack. When they came put with the cookies, I was a bit surprised as they were smaller than I remembered. It was more like my cookies baked at home, very different than my original experience. When we got to the car some where warm some were not. I got the gluten-free cookie, which I appreciated them putting it in a separate bag, though I wouldn't put that bag in with the other cookies because of cross contamination. That was the cookie I ate, and it was warm and gooey. It was good and worth the price since it is GF. The other people with me said the cookies were good. Again, only a few were warm. But they didn't think it was worth the price. But it makes sense ased on being by a college these are popular. I did it, I don't need to go back.

Anyway, the location was nice and had a fully stocked inventory. The cookies are super warm and melty when handed to you. The only reason I took down a star is because the cookie was so soft and undercooked that I couldn't hold it. Which, don't get me wrong I looooove soft cookies but it was too doughy in the middle to hold. It was still really good and I'd get it again but I wish it was a little more stable.
