The Cold Spring DQ is my "local" DQ - being the one that is closest to me and the one I frequent most often because of that. Unfortunately I wish that weren't the case. I love DQ, it's a top 5 fast food restaurant for me. But this particular DQ rarely gets it right. It's always something. I'll start off by saying that the weekday experience is typically much better than nights or weekends. It can be slow at times, but otherwise good. The biggest issue with this DQ is that their hours switch at least 5-6 times a year it seems. Sometimes they are open until 8, 9, 10. Sometimes they just close early it seems. As of 1/10/26 - the big sign outside says "Open year round until 10". That's not true. They close everyday at 8pm now. I tried going last night at 8:10 based on this sign to pull up to a closed for the night DQ. Frustrating, frustrating, frustrating. There are a few other issues that commonly occur here. One of the most frequent is their intercom/drive thru system. It has to be 20 years old it seems. It just broadcasts into the building and not through a headset, so communication back and forth can be quite the struggle. Service is typically decent, but it's not something to write home about. Most people are friendly. The food is usually accurate, but I would say temps fluctuate quite a bit. However, the picture below shows one such instance it wasn't. I ordered a deluxe cheeseburger to find it to be a bun and two patty's. Nothing else. I had some ketchup packets in my car and made it work, but I didn't have time to wait another 15 minutes in the line for them to fix it. I also wish that you could do drive thru pick up for online orders. The only option is to go inside. I love DQ, and will still go here, but I wish it reflected what other DQ experiences are typically like. This location has lots of potential, and it would tremendously benefit from a major modern retrofit. read more

Use to come into this DQ since I was a kid, went back there not long ago and went inside to order rather than use the drive-thru and the sight in there had me shaking my head. Got to the counter to order and it's just 4 employees standing there talking to each other and one of them eating a popsicle. Finally after 2 minutes of standing there I had to ask if I could order and they all gave me and the person I was with a blank look like I was bothering them, not to mention it looked like the place hasn't been cleaned in awhile (spoons and a couple receipts on the counter, flies all over the place and dirty floor) never again. read more

I remember this being a family staple for us. I always came here growing up for a nice treat and some dang good food. I am just very disappointed in their quality of service and inability to get an order correct to completion. I called ahead to be respectful of their closing time and I got attitude from the girl who answered. I thanked her and drove to the restaurant. I got there and was working on getting my order together with my significant other. It wasn't an excessive amount of time, very reasonable. The person taking the order seemed very inconvenienced. I got to the window and she handed my food over to me quickly as it to shove it out the window. I ordered a 6 piece strip and my partner ordered a 3. We got a piece of toast, total of 7 strips, and most were small as if they intentionally chose the small ones. Super disappointed in their service. read more

Worst food I've ever had waited 30 minutes then went to counter and they had forgotten to make our food. Could understand if it were busy but it was not busy at all. Food was terrible burger had so much mustard and ketchup on it it was oozing out all over. Chicken strips were over cooked and hard. We will never eat there again. Your staff needs supervision!!! Really terrible. If you order a blizzard only the top third of it has the fixings the bottom two thirds are just ice cream. Rude manager. Dirty facility. Will pick food that was dropped on the floor up and serve it to customers. My advice, stay far away from this place. read more

I have attempted to go to this Dairy Queen twice around 8-8:30 PM over the last week and it has been closed. However, their hours state they are open until 9 PM and there were employees in the building. Also, they charge for a glass of water in the drive thru even if you order something else to eat. Doesn't seem like a great business model. Needs improvement. read more

I just went through the drive thru and ordered "pretzel sticks with zesty cheese" as advertised on the menu. My order came with no cheese sauce so I asked for it. She left then came back and said "we're actually all out of cheese sauce" I said "okay I actually don't want the pretzels then" and she asked for them back so I gave them to her and she snatched them from me and threw them in the trash. No apology, no offer to refund. They were really about to send me off with dry pretzels knowing they didn't give me what I asked for and didn't say anything about it lol read more

Last time I was there they interrupted me mid-order, gave me my total and walked away. They wouldn't let me continue my order and wouldn't answer me. Drove up to the window to finish ordering and the staff was extremely rude. Order was wrong also and the chocolate extreme blizzard does not taste like the other locations. Drive through service was pretty good. It was hard to hear the person using the microphone because of the static. Food was great. The only bummer was they forgot our ketchup even after asked to make sure it was on our order. read more

Food was soggy and cold. They messed up the order. When I called to ask to have my order fixed the lady asked me what I wanted her to do then hung up on me. Very rude employees, terrible food. Never again will I go to this DQ. The cook proceeded to get in my face when I told her my order was wrong. read more

DQ is DQ.. There isn't much to say about the place that everyone doesn't already know. I do like the service at this location. I also have my favorites: their honey mustard rocks!! I love their chicken strip basket! Their flamethrower burger is actually very good as well! And who doesn't love ice cream?!? read more

Good food at a very affordable price point. It's what you would expect. The best part of this DQ is that they make their own dilly bars, buster bars, etc. Personally, I haven't seen that at another Dairy Queen before, and the quality shows. Fresh dilly bars are the best! read more

I give this place 0 stars and a warning to never eat there. This is one of the worst food cross contamination I've seen!! I have been in the food service industry for 25 years. My family has banned this Dairy Queen for over a year because last time we ate there we got food poisoning, we decided to go back and give it another try, when I went into cold spring Dairy Queen and ordered a chicken strip basket, here is what I observed. There were all high school students working, no supervisor any where to be seen. The girl with the green hair working on the food in back used her bare hands the whole time I was there never washing her hands once. She threw a hamburger in the microwave then went to the deep fryer and used her hands to pull out four chicken strips then used her hands to put fries in the box. Then she proceeded to put her hands in the box to mix the food around. She then went back to the microwave removed the hamburger that had been nuked too long and set it on the dirty counter that had condiment toppings smeared all over it. She removed the top bun threw it away then put another bun on top and threw it back in the microwave, she then took a dry rag and wiped the counter off. No sanitation buckets anywhere. I then told the student who seemed to be in charge that she needs to be wearing gloves she said we don't wear gloves we use tongs but there was not one tong in sight and I had yet to see any one using them. I then watched a girl cut a banana up on the metal counter filled with blizzard toppings and scrape it into a cup!! The owner of this place should be ashamed of themselves. No one should be paying for their food. It's the most unsanitary environment I've seen and I was shocked that they have not been shut down again. You need to train your staff in safety and sanitation!! I won't spend another penny at the cold spring DQ!! read more
