We often use the mobile app to order when we get it, and we have never had an issue with order accuracy. That's a big kudos to the staff for being always getting it right the first time. The staff have never been anything but friendly, and they do take care of the inside as well. It's always been clean and tidy anytime I've been inside. A&W isn't the cheapest fast food option, but it also feels like a step above traditional fast food and the portions are typically reflective of the price. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that it can get backed up at times. It's certainly not the quickest place I've ever been. So just keep that in mind if you're planning on the drive thru. Otherwise everything else is a positive!

You scan the QR code at your table, order online, pay online and someone delivers all items (to your table) in takeout containers. Even with this updated experience, without "wait staff", everyone was helpful and attentive. The signature sticks, with the yum-yum sauce, has to be my personal favorite. You have to be so careful not to fill up on their delicious wontons and purple egg rolls (appetizers!) The restaurant and restrooms are clean and welcoming - nothing fancy, just what you would expect for small town dining! It looks like they host local musicians from time to time. The owner was working alongside his team and so friendly! He often treats his customers to his signature sweet wontons (secret flavors!) Our only complaint, and this comes paired with a picky eater. The description of their dishes doesn't necessarily disclose all vegetables/ingredients used. So, some surprises were had! It was delicious and a very minor complaint! We can't wait to visit again!

Since my wife is five months pregnant and constantly hungry, we decided to stop by Charlie's Cafe, also in Freeport. As soon as we arrived, we were quickly seated in a booth and placed our orders. I went for the three-meat omelette, which included three eggs, hashbrowns, and toast. My wife opted for a Denver omelette, skipping the mushrooms, along with a side of French toast. It was your classic diner breakfast--thankfully, we didn't find any hair, nails, or Band-Aids in our food! The hashbrowns were a standout for me; they tasted freshly made rather than frozen. We also got regular coffee, which was just okay. The service was satisfactory--our server was around but not particularly engaging, which was alright. I can definitely see us stopping by again for lunch after this delicious breakfast!

The dining space feels a little more upscale and fancy, but the prices honestly aren't bad and there are plenty of good options on the menu. I ordered the 10 oz top sirloin with green beans and a loaded baked potato. The steak was cooked how I asked and definitely hit what I was craving. It was pretty good overall, though it got a little dry toward the end. I also tried the Brussels sprouts appetizer because it sounded interesting -- it came with a creamy balsamic, bacon, onions, and goat cheese, which made for a really unique combination. Others at the table ordered coconut shrimp, chicken strips, and fish & chips. The coconut shrimp seemed popular, although the dipping sauce had changed. Overall, this is a solid place to stop if you're in the Glenwood area or spending time on the lake.
