Had a wonderful time here. I brought my friends son for his birthday here. He asked to go here because he had never been. He just turned 11. The staff was very attentive and super friendly! The food was great and even the customers were friendly. There was a trucker that stopped by and said happy birthday to the kid and gave him $11 for his 11th birthday and walked away. Wonderful experience and I plan on going back. The food that you get for the price is great. read more

What an amazing experience! Everything was fresh on my plate and the chicken wrap had the perfect amount of lettuce to chicken! My husband did say that he wasn't sure the patty on his burger was fresh, maybe made up ahead and frozen. The service and atmosphere was fantastic Tots and fries were awesome!!! read more

Stopped in for a quick lunch. It's a typical nice diner. Good menu selections and clean. I opted for the soup and salad bar. Ok selections on the salad end but three yummy soups to choose from. I tried a little of each-chili, chicken wild rice and beef stew. All were nice and hot and delish. Great place for a nice comfort food meal! read more

Stopped here for breakfast on way to Brainerd. It's a truck stop restaurant, but very good food. The food portions were large and served hot. My husband said the hash browns, served crispy, but moist, were the best he had in a long time. He asked for and got his bacon crispy. I had the oatmeal; the portion was huge, could not finish. Located in a truck stop. It's the perfect stop for truckers for fuel. A shower. And a filling meal! These places are getting to be far and few between with the big chain truck stops taking over the truck stop industry that only offer fast food and expensive groceries . I had the special. Pancake plater. Came with 2 huge pancakes. 2 eggs. Choice of meat (ham, sausage patties or bacon). I took bacon (5slices) hash browns or fried potatoes. Water and a carafe of coffee Service was quick and server checked 2-3 times how everything was. Couldn't eat it all! Got full!! Took a nap after I ate.... I was on my way to pick someone up at the airport in Minneapolis and I needed to get out of the horrible traffic on I-94 for a break. This is a truck stop with good truck stop food and I had the trucker special breakfast. I dined on 2 eggs over easy, whole wheat toast and 3 slices of bacon. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the bacon was thick and cooked to a proper crispness. The waitress bless her soul was hustling to handle the unexpected rush of people bailing from the traffic mess on I-94. The place was clean and my breakfast was okay as breakfasts go. The price was reasonable, I think I got out of there for less than 15 dollars including the tip. I don't know that I will have a situation come up again where I would need to stop there again but if I did I would eat there again. read more

First time here today. Absolutely loved everything. It's a hidden gem. Best breakfast in the area. See the pics. The omelette a are huge and full of fresh quality ingredients. The pancakes are the size of the whole plate too. The coffee cake was fresh tasting and moist and flavorful. The burger was very good as well. The fries had a nice crisp on the outside of them. Everything was awesome. Even our waiter Ty was great. Highly recommend this place. This will now be my new spot for breakfast with the hubby. Will definitely be going back to try lunch and dinner entrees as well. read more

On our way back to ND from a trip to Minneapolis, stopped here at 11:30 to grab a "quick" bite to eat. Was fairly busy when we first got there, no tables were clean and one server was just chatting with customers who'd already been served. Oh well, no big deal, about 10 minutes later someone came out to clean a booth for my husband, myself, and 3 kids (2 12 year olds. 1 3 year old). Came and took our drink order right away and brought those out and took our food order. Then, took the order of a couple other people at the same time. We then waited for over 45 minutes for our food, waitress never even checked on us, the other table that ordered at the same time had there food 15 minutes before us. No apology until I mentioned the long wait, she took 10 bucks off. I didn't care about a discount, but she could've acknowledged that either they forgot about us or whatever. The food was fine, nothing special but, I wouldn't return because the service was terrible. We were there for an hour and 20 minutes. Pretty ridiculous. read more

We just ate there yesterday. The restaurant was very cold, we had to leave our jackets on. It took 1/2 hour to get our food, and when it arrived it was cold. I had the philly with fries and my husband the hamburger. My fries were not only cold, but tough. It was like eating jerky. My husband wanted lettuce, tomato and a slice of onion. Stopped in on a Sunday at 12. We sat ourselves and waited for menus. Then, had to wait for kids menus. Then, waited to order. The waitress was friendly but maybe new. We had to tell her what the special was. I heard another table ask why they got charged for coffee "this time." She warned is the food would take a long time, but the waiting was downright ridiculous. We had to grab another set of silverware from a different table as well as syrup. She brought four of the five meals and the missing meal happened to be for our youngest child who's is 5 which didn't make things any easier. The everything omelette with hash-browns was very meaty and delicious. The kids loved their eggs, sausage, French toast, and cinnamon roll. My husband enjoyed the country fried steak. We had to wait for a box and instructions to pay upfront. There were 3 servers and maybe 7 tables with people. There appeared to be quite a few regulars. Super good food - and lots to choose from! *Big menu though a lot of crossovers, being a truck stop. The meat they serve is truly good quality, and their portions are generous. My husband loves the monster burger and has gotten it every time. Their malts & shakes are made with real fruit and Good ice cream. Very nice wait staff, clean and friendly atmosphere. On our way home from the lake we stopped for a hot meatloaf sandwich. We had been to this diner once before and had the hot beef and it was very good. But the hot meatloaf was such a disappointment! The bread wasn't fresh and the meatloaf was scarce. It was only about 1/4 inch thick, if that, and didn't even cover the bread, and parts of it was hard like it had been overheated in a microwave. I expected, at minimum, it would have been at least 3/4 inch thick. The potatoes were just ok and the beef gravy tasted strange, nothing like the gravy we had on our hot beef sandwiches on our previous visit. If the server would have asked me how it was, I may have told her and asked for something different. But we were hungry and wanted to be on our way so we just ate half of our meal and left. We had planned on making the Hasty Diner a regular stop on our way home from the lake because we were pleased with our first meal there. But now we will go elsewhere.
