Shrimp and pepper pizza. Delicious. Old fridge pizza is unique from other pizza in that it's rectangular instead of round.

If you read my review of Dino and Francesco's, I have the same opinion in many ways of this place. The staff is definitely friendlier, but the non-pizza italian food has never impressed me and it's too expensive. Another long time Clarks Summit eatery that struggles to remain good. They have an amazing pizza, though. The fresh tomato pan pizza is undoubtedly excellent and everyone I have forced it upon has agreed. Full of garlic and the only Northeast PA "American Cheese" pizza that I enjoy at all. I would recommend take-out pizza. read more

This place has really gone down hill. From not honoring the restaurant .com coupon (although we had it out on the table when we sat down, we weren't told until we had ordered and were served salads), to the very poor service, to the chicken parm that MUST have been microwaved to reach the very undesired "rubber chicken" consistency, to the lack of repsonsiveness when a complaint was made, it was a miserable experience. Ordered an Italian Hoagie with; tomato, onion and lettuce. Pretty standard right. Tomato was a grape tomato sliced into many pieces. No exaggeration and only one on the entire hoagie! Couldn't believe it. Not sure why they even bothered. Never saw anything so ridiculous in my life! At the very least, maybe you could have put a bunch of them on, instead of one tiny grape tomato sliced up. Who does this? Pathetic! read more

I used to love their pizza. But I went in today and tried their lunch buffet. For $10, it was actually good. They have eggplant Parmesan, roast beef, lemon chicken, meatballs . But I was disappointed with their pizza buffet. Three kinds of pizza were there which was mediocore. I guess if you want the good pizza, you have to order it a la carte. But if you just want Italian food for lunch, then you will like this place. read more

Will never go back. Waitresses are clueless. Our party of two waited 30 minutes before the waitress even approached us to say that our takeout pizza would be out soon. Colarusso's has a big-time reputation in the area, however, it was earned decades ago, my guess is when the original owners were running the show, then their kids/nephews/nieces/etc take over and you know how that goes. I have ordered from this location twice, the first was delivery, which took about 90 minutes, and like one would expect when it takes 90 minutes for a pizza to arrive, it was cold and greasy. This order was just a plain pizza and mozzarella sticks. I'm from the area, and I get what Old Forge style pizza is, and like it, but this was terrible. Doughy, too much crust even for this style of pizza, undercooked, entirely too much cheese (this can be a personal preference, but this was a lot of cheese, the slices were just unnaturally weighted down), and the wait made it much worse. It was just cold doughy mush. To be fair, the mozzarella sticks could have been very good, but they were ice cold by the time they arrived. The marinara sauce was average, but I can think of better from at least a dozen local places off the top of my head. Again, to be fair, I prefer my food fresh (hot food served hot and cold food served cold), so a cold pizza that tasted like it sat in the driver's car for over an hour isn't something I'm going to enjoy, but my girlfriend, who enjoys cold pizza and doesn't have to eat everything fresh and hot as soon as it's ready also said the pizza was terrible as well. Needless to say, I was disappointed and a little annoyed, and complaining does no good because as someone else experienced, they'll fall back on their reputation earned 30 plus years ago and act as if you just don't know what food is supposed to taste like. Anyway, I gave the place another chance, in large part due to their reputation, and was hoping it was just a bad night (we're all entitled to an off-night here and there). So, I ordered and picked it up to avoid any issues with waiting an inordinate amount of time for delivery. I really wanted to give them a fair chance, so I tried to get a wide array of menu items. I got a plain pizza, a chicken wing pizza, an order of chicken marsala, an order of chicken francaise, and an order of chicken parm. Everything was ready pretty fast and I picked it up and got home while it was still fresh and hot, so I was already off to a better start than the last time. Then, I tried everything . . . absolutely terrible. The plain pizza was just a hotter, fresher version of the doughy slop from the first time around. The chicken wing pizza was just loaded with entirely too much crap. That's a thick crust and it was just soaked through right down to the box with grease. Chewy, doughy, sloppy, and more cheese than any 3 pizzas could ever possibly need. The chicken marsala was the worst marsala sauce I can remember having. It tasted like a canned gravy with canned mushrooms and a melted stick of butter. One thing I didn't taste even a hint of was marsala wine, which is the whole dish. The chicken was too thick for that dish, and was overcooked, chewy, and rubbery. As for the francaise, absolutely terrible. It tasted like a jarred scampi sauce, which if you've never had the unfortunate opportunity to try, is like eating half melted butter, half olive oil, and some jarred garlic. Not even a hint of wine. It was also the same inedible chicken as they used in the marsala dish. In fact both tasted like they precooked the chicken, then just dumped the sauce over them, as opposed to the way any Italian restaurant would make either of these most basic and extremely hard to mess up dishes. The chicken parm. wasn't much better. The chicken was the same deal, it tasted like a piece of rubber and it seemed as if it was just hanging out in the sauce all night because the breading was wet and soggy and falling off. The sauce itself was mediocre, as was the cheese, but nowhere near up to the standards of a family owned Italian restaurant in this part of the country. The side of pasta was just boiled pasta, there wasn't anything wrong with it, but for the sake of a thorough review, it was slightly overcooked if you'd expect al dente, but that is the least of their problems. I haven't been to the other locations, and I remember having their pizza in Old Forge in the late 90s/early 2000s and it was excellent, right up to par with the competition. So, I do think it's just a case of the original owners turning over the reigns and it's just not the same. That said, it's unfortunate, because I read a review from a guy who had a terrible experience then came back for a private party and said it was delicious, so that means they CAN get it right when they're inclined to, but probably just don't care. read more

Never go back, ordered fresh tomato pizza, got the tray, went to bite into a piece of pizza, found it tough, reason they use frozen shells, left the wax paper which separates the shells on, put cheese and tomatoes on top of wax paper. read more

I have no idea what kind of cheese they use for their pizza here, but it is absolutely DELICIOUS. Their other dishes like the Eggplant Parmesan are also wonderful, and their buffets are nice - not too big but not too small either. Whether delivery, takeout or sit-down, this place is great. read more

We just left there and although the pizza was good I'm sure we'll never go back because, as stated by many others here, the service was incredibly bad. Our waitress was so "out to lunch" I'm not sure how she was functioning. We had to ask for plates!!! We had silverware only because it was already on the table. First she said there was no lettuce when we ordered salads but then she brought them out. She spilled the soup because she said there were no bowls. I'm still not sure what that meant because it was in a bowl (?). She was on another planet. Then just as we got up to leave there was a crash in the kitchen that was so loud it hurt my ears as a whole stack of plates smashed everywhere. Not a place to go. Arrived on 12/26 to this pizza place and they announced they were out of pizza. Made reservations with a party of 16 and what were we supposed to eat. I am accustomed to reviewing food but not no food...they comped us the drinks but had to to actually leave. They gave us a $30 gift certificate but this was a total melt down. Best pizza and food in Clarks Summit. Bernie and Keri are amazing. We have been ordering from here since the early 2000's. Everything is always great and it's our favorite restaurant. The pizza is amazing and so is everything else. We have never had a bad meal or experience. Their service is also wonderful. You won't be disappointed. read more

I will admit I only order take out but the food has been great every time. I had an issue once with a mix up of a payment and they immediately issued me a gift certificate. I can speak for their pizza and pasta dishes and the to go service and they above and beyond. read more

I have been to Colarusso's several times, mostly for the lunch buffet. The pizza is not special - somewhat resembling that abominable stuff they sell in Old Forge. There are better places in town for pizza on fresh-baked dough. One thing that Colarusso's does better than anyone, anywhere, is eggplant parm. The eggplant is sliced super-thin, breaded and layered with tangy sauce & the same gooey "sticks all over your mouth" cheese mix that they use on the pizza. I have had some good, bad, and downright awful eggplant in restaurants all over the area. The quest for the perfect eggplant truly ends here. Colarusso's nails it every time. I was a walk in. I didn't have to wait, they had one ready. They sold me someone else's pizza that they did not pick up. The pizza they sold me was hard, probably in the warmer for awhile. I took it back, ask for my money, they would not refund, they wanted to make another pizza for me only. I just wanted a refund, they did not refund me. I told them just to keep there pizza. I will not buy there again. I you just walk in for a pizza, do not accept a pizza already made, wait the 20 minutes for a fresh pizza, better yet just don't buy there, I am not going to. Bad weekend evening manager with bad pizza, not congenial, desperate for money, sold me someone else's unpicked-up old pizza. read more
