Not sure what took China Palace so long but they are on GrubHub finally. It's an absolute no brainer to order especially if you have GrubHub+ and get the fees waived. The chef specialty options are pretty impressive as they're a bit different than what you'd find in run on the mill Americanized Chinese places. Szechuan Seafood, Hong Kong Style Seafood Noodle, and other dishes are very tasty and portioned well. China Palace continues to season their food with great sauce work that sets the food apart from normal Chinese food. Looking forward to their crunchy noodle dish or shrimp with spicy red sauce in the future. Now that China Palace delivers I'll probably always order from here. read more

Have been coming here for years and don't think I will be getting a meal nor coming back. It's New Year's Eve and I have been here in the past on new year's. Not really crowded-5 minutes to be seated but 15 minutes to take an order. There is only ONE server working 12-15 tables. Finally hostess took order. FYI-restaurant is under new ownership. Table who was here before us just left because they never took order. Doesn't look promising . We are here over 30 minutes and not even a cup of soup. read more

This is a must stop in Scranton. I feel like this is a roll back the clock to an era of the golden age of Chinese restaurants before they all went bad and started serving yellow fried rice. General Tso's chicken is real and brilliantly crispy on the outside with perfectly flavored sauce. The shrimp and broccoli were fresh. The dumplings were faced rate and the complimentary noodles and duck sauce are as good as you will find anywhere. My only complaint is that there was zero pork in the wanton soup and zero pork in the "ROAST PORK" fried rice. They should be ashamed for calling what they served roast pork fried rice. All things said a must stop when you are in Scranton. read more

China Palace reminds me so much of the first Chinese restaurant I went to with my family in, I think, about 1989. The decor is clean and well maintained but late 80s/early 90s style. The tables include the classic Chinese zodiac placemats. Water and tea are complimentary. The lunch menu is on the smaller side and lunches include soup and fried rice. The prices are honestly fantastic, more in line with fast food prices than a sit-down restaurant. The food is delicious abd the service was excellent as well. Really the only thing about this place that isn't top notch is the decor, and it's just outdated. The prices, taste, service, and cleanliness are far above and beyond the buffet down the street. read more

I like to sit in a restaurant when eating Chinese. Thankfully this spot is clean and the staff is super friendly. Hot and sour soup was very good. Lunch portions generous. I found the rice in the fried rice to be overcooked. (I ordered white rice though so cannot judge that). The chicken and shrimp was very good quality. The sauces were good (I asked for a spicy dish to be extra spicy and it was not spicy at all). Finally!!! A Chinese restaurant that isn't a facade for cheaply made or priced food. From their hot and sour soup to the Sesame chicken, everything was great. I would have taken a photo of my meal, but it was too good not to chow down... Its a nice sit down experience that isn't tacky or presumptuous, so you can relax and enjoy your meal at your leisure. The tea and crunchy crispy noodles that are complimentary with the table were good - but everything after that went down hill. Appetizers that were tasteless, scorching hot, and extra greasy (egg rolls, spring rolls, and shrimp toast); super-fishy (shrimp toast); or tremendously doughy (fried dumplings). For entree the chicken Ho Fun was bland without substance (missing any semblance of vegetables AT ALL) and included human hair; General Tzuo chicken also missing any broccoli or sauce that could coat the over-fried chunks; and beef & vegetable... good vegetables... but beef bordering on either reconstituted jerky or spoiled meat -- both slimy and wet leathery simultaneously. The two stars is for the stupendous service and clean dining room. The missing three stars is due to food preparation, presentation, and sanitation. It appears that my idea of good Chinese food is different than most the other reviewers, the food was average probably below average. Ordered General Tsao chicken combo plate, the Tsao chicken was ehh, the eggroll was not good, and soup was average. The only issue: the owners/employees bring their own kids to the Restaurant and the kids run between tables treating the whole area as a playground and come to patrons. They have the best quality, menu selection, and flavor of any Chinese restaurant. Their menu offers some different dishes than their competitors. This place had some of the most glowing and spectacular reviews I had ever read, with exemplary words like "the best ever", and causing interstate dreams of craving. If I could have rated it 3.5 that would be perfect. It's a very old fashioned place -- lunch special just under $7, selection of traditional entrees that all come with fried rice and choice of soup ( wonton, egg drop, hot n sour). With all those folks raving about chicken & broccoli, thought I would try something of that ilk. Got beef & broccoli, sis got diced chicken & shrimp. They bring tea, duck sauce & thick fried chow mein noodles to nosh on. Service prompt, and polite. Bathrooms very clean. Nice Chinese soft / lite pop music playing - the staff all Chinese. The food however, not as authentic - very deeply set in the Chinese American tradition. Meat is heavily dipped in corn starch before fried in wok, or coated in breading before deep fat fried. Soup good but not stellar, it was adequate, fine. Main course was tasty and fresh, my beef had a very nice garlic taste in the brown sauce, broccoli fresh. The fried rice however very dry, the peas especially old & mealy -- as if it had been prepared long before and reheated. My sis was well pleased, but my tummy sore - too much msg? Sodium? It tasted good, and was hot, cooked to order-- and my bar pretty low for a Scranton , PA suburban resto in a strip mall. We live in NYC where great Chinese food abounds. For this price in NYC, our lunch would have been a Steal and the quality good enough to do well - but it is by no means the best, most amazing, dream worthy Chinese food in the country. Terrible food. I got the low mein and there was no sauce. It was literally just noodles and a few vegetables. I also got the general tso's chicken. The service was spot on and the food was decent. No complaints, just not exemplary . I got the chicken and broccoli. The smaller portion came with white sauce ( garlic and cream). It sounded as though the larger portion would have come with a different sauce.My friend got a brown sauce on his meal that was very tasty so I'd try that combo if I came again. read more
