Dine in was mediocre. Large wonton was blazing hot and steaming, but bland. Scallops w/ pork fried rice was a saving grace. More tasty than the soup but the clumpy fried rice lacked texture and distinction. 70th percentile. How can you mess up frozen scallops? We should have stopped there. The two of us had also ordered the Moo Shu Pork, which juicy and flavorful everywhere else it is served. Not so here. Dry and plain. It was brought home only after having consumed 3 of the 12 pancakes. Maybe some oyster sauce will cheer it up tomorrow. The format is primarily takeout. The dining area is a single row of 5-6 tables sharing the front of the restaurant with cartons of bottle and cans of soda and ice tea. Service is non existant, order at the counter and fend for yourself with takeout plastic plates and utensils. I expect that the service is reflective on the lack of tips in the jar. I was handed my quart container of soup with a bag of fried noodles. When I asked for was told that they don't have any. When I requested a pint container as there were two of us to eat the soup, I was begrudginly given one. When I asked for two I was given a look like I was asking for Miso-glazed Chilean sea bass with side of duck fried rice. ( a meal I enjoyed at TAO NYC) While I have not yet found an acceptable sit down Chinese fare in the area, hope does spring eternal. The winner will have table cloths, a container of fresh hot tea, ice water, and a wait staff worthy of being tipped. Until then I continue my search. read more

Probably the best rice I've ever had from a Chinese restaurant. Pre-Food Experience: China King's location is simple to find and there's plenty of parking as it's in a lot. It's also near a supermarket and other stores making China king super convenient if you're feeling chinese food after running errands. In my experience, the staff has always been pleasant and easy to deal with. We've been coming here over 2 years now and not once has there been an issue. Prior to covid, they used to have free goodies (calendar, chopsticks, etc.) for customers which was nice. Now, it's pretty bare bones but they keep the place neat and tidy. Besides that, it's your typical American Chinese food spot with reasonable prices and tasty meals. We've ordered many different dishes from here including sesame chicken, chicken and broccoli, shrimp fried rice, french fries, and spring rolls. The food here is generally good though not amazing. However, what sets this restaurant apart from others is their rice. Their rice is AMAZING. Idk what it is, but their rice is flavorful but not overwhelming. It compliments their dishes excellently. I can't say I've ever tasted chinese rice like this before. While I like their dishes, what would make them 5 stars if if they made their sesame chicken crispier (or perhaps smaller chunks), flavored the other meats a bit more, and if they seasoned/flavored their french fries in some way. Again, it's not bad - it could just use some minor improvements to become top tier. Overall, this is probably one of the best chinese food spots in Scranton. Their food taste is consistent and the prices are fair. Additionally, that rice is well worth the trip. Although the food is good the customer service sucks. I been ordering from this place for years. Today they tell me they don't deliver to my address but after telling them I order all the time they finally say yes they deliver to my address they tell me it's a $60 minimum. Normally $15. Are you kidding me right now. So I want to speak to a manager. I get hung up on twice and when I call back no manager will speak to me. So to hell with china king. This is really as good as it gets for Chinese delivery in the Scranton downtown area. Good food, good price, good service. The lady who answers the phone is not yelling at you and actually speaks English. After the disaster I had at Tin Tin, I am happy to find this place. The spring rolls are proportionally sized, the food doesn't have the plastic after taste, and even though my vegetable rice was overcooked I was quite satisfied by my order. read more

One of the better Chinese take out places in the area... they do have a sit down section there, but it's not well kept. Every time I've been there dirty plates are sitting on the tables from the previous patrons. It appears to be a family run business and they don't have a wait staff... the folks behind the counter come out to serve you at the table... They are usually pretty busy, so take out is your better option. The staff is nice, the food is good and the portions are generous. -Try the curry chicken and springs rolls. read more

They refuse to deliver anywhere over 3 miles away even if the order is over $50 and the tip is greater than 20%... So I've been "black listed" from delivery. After moving to the area, the first thing I like to do is find a solid Chinese takeout place. After a long search and many failed attempts, as far as Scranton goes, this is the best option! The food was solid Chinese-American fare and when I say delivery was fast-it was fast. I mean, the driver must have had a fryer in his car kind of fast. The food came in about 15-20 minutes and it was piping hot. The sauced items were saucy, the fried items were crispy and heart-stoppingly delicious. Five stars! read more

This is our usual go to for Chinese delivery. The food is great and they have never once messed up an order. We have never actually eaten in the restaurant. The delivery driver is nice and the food comes quickly. Only complaint, when I call to order the food the man who usually answers the phone is not very friendly at all and rushes off the phone. Terrible! Their delivery driver went to the wrong address, blocks across the city despite the correct address on the online order receipt. After 45 minutes of effort to correct their mistake, the driver showed up, unapologetically, and then loudly complained that he received no tip. Mistakes happen, of course, but there was no effort on the part of this business to make it right. Called for a delivery. I was supposed to get added items in my meal which I was charged for. Additionally, was supposed to get a free soda with an order over $35.* The delivery person said he would be right back but never came back. I called and mentioned what was the issue. I spoke to Kyle, told him we had started frequenting the restaurant since we just moved nearby. I asked him since the guy never came with the soda and my dinner was not made the way i requested if he could just offer something. He rudely said you cant get a free meal just for that. He refused to let me speak to his boss. I decided they dont want my business. The food was good but the customer service is so bad. Dont call for delivery unless your really hungry. The best Chinese food in Scranton, and possibly the whole Northeast of Pennsylvania. My family's absolute go-to and a must try for any and all Chinese food enthusiasts. Great customer service, reasonable prices, fast delivery, and outstanding food. Couldn't ask for anything else. I've been eating Chinese food since I was a toddler and have yet to have any better.
