This has always been my go to chinese spot in NEPA. I have tried others and nowhere compares. Was looking for some comfort food on saturday and decided to order some takeout. I got the chicken and brocoli & a side of sweet and sour chicken. Both we're awesomeee as always!!!! The staff here is super friendly every time I've picked up food. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory, and I feel compelled to share my concerns. First and foremost, the stick beef was extremely dried out and lacked any flavor. It was quite disappointing. The wonton soup was no better; the broth tasted bland and resembled dirty dishwater. While the wontons themselves were somewhat acceptable in taste, the absence of bok choy, greens, or roast pork slices left the dish feeling incomplete. Additionally, the roast pork egg roll was underwhelming, tasting more like a fried piece of cabbage with very little, if any, roast pork inside. The chicken and broccoli dish was particularly unappetizing; the broccoli seemed old and unwashed, with a gritty texture that reminded me of sand. The chicken had a slimy quality, leading me to believe it was either microwaved or just days old. The brown sauce accompanying it was as bland as the wonton soup broth, and despite my attempts to enhance the flavor with soy sauce and other sauces, nothing helped. The fried rice was misleadingly labeled; it was simply yellow rice with a few scattered pieces of roast pork, hardly what one would expect from fried rice. Once again, the roast pork tasted as if it was past its prime. I had a far better experience with a Chinese restaurant during a recent trip to Alabama, where my parents and I enjoyed fresh and flavorful dishes, that were remarkably different than what we were used to in NY, which included shrimp and chicken in the wonton soup as well as other different types of recipes than we were used to, however my complaint and dissatisfaction was not about differences between restaurants but the freshness and quality of the food from Hot Wok. It was a stark contrast to what I received from Hot Wok in Scranton, Pennsylvania. After writing my review and complaint to DoorDash I went online and looked at several other reviews other than what's listed on DoorDash and it seems like I'm not the only one who has had problems with their order from Hot Wok in Scranton, Pennsylvania! Don't let their 4.5 out of 5 review on DoorDash fool you, they have a 2.8 on Yelp and a 3.8 on Google and a 3.4 on Trip Advisor! A few past DoorDash employees mentioned that they saw, took pictures and uploaded them here of frozen chicken sitting out in a bin and NOT stored to Health Department guidelines so you have been warned! read more

Bad business practices. If you have changed your hours, let Door Dash know so that people don't waste their time trying to support local small businesses byordering from you ,waiting forever, only to be texted by the Door Dash driver that you are closed, according to a sign on the door. Additionally, don't ACCEPT orders from Door Dash if you don't plan on making the food. Accepting the order on your end is confirmation that the order is in the works, so I was charged but got no food. Will not support this restaurant in the future. read more

Wallet Beware Among my already overpriced order was a quart of Won-ton soup with no won-tons. I was charged the menu price for the food THEN an additional $2.00 for them to not put the won-tons in my soup.It cost me a total of $5.75 for my (broth). You might think me petty for going on about overcharged soup, but if I'm petty for bitching about it then imagine what else they are adding on without telling the consumer then think about the thousands of dollars those little add-ons add up to in a year, year after year. Honestly I used to love this place and I would always just get deliveries. I never actually ate at the restaurant and then the one time that we go to eat there I don't even remember why we want to eat there but it smelled absolutely disgusting and we had to leave .there was no way we were going to eat at a restaurant that had a disgusting smell I don't know maybe there was something wrong with the plumbing or something but I just could not stand the foul odor read more

Ordered food for delivery before 1:21pm. My order consisted of a small soup, cheese wontons, fries, and 2 egg rolls. An hour goes by, no food, and I check the confirmation email to make sure of the time. I call the restaurant at 2:29pm and a woman says "my manager handles online orders and they are on the phone and will call you back." Received a flyer in my mailbox, and decided to give it a whirl, since it was ostensibly free delivery ($1 delivery). For two people, ordered the quart of hot and sour soup, small chicken with garlic, and small hot and spicy shrimp; I was apprehensive that it would not suffice for two people, but it was actually too much food. In the future, would order soup for one. The rice boxes seem very small, but in fact they pack a lot of rice, which was still a bit much for me. Despite requesting extra spicy for what are supposed to already be spicy dishes, I was left with the same, disappointing sweet Chinese food I have encountered time and again in the SF Bay Area. After adding some Hungarian hot paprika (the only quasi-chili powder I have encountered since moving to Scranton), the food had a bit more kick, but still did not quite hit the proverbial sweet, or should I say spicy, spot. ordered spare ribs, shrimp fried rice and eggroll. got home, ribs were undercooked, (had to place in oven for more cooking), WHITE rice was pork rice, yuky with little pieces of mystery meat that could be (well you know, a little piece of cat maybe?) ribs were thrown over the yuky rice, and all barbeque? sauce soaked into the now bright orange yuky rice.
