New China Star - Takeout food excess - Chinese Near Me - Dunmore, Pennsylvania

See all

Beef & mushroom is the best here. I love the other stuff as well but like I stated best beef & mushroom.

This was good at one time they driver's is very disrespectful. Driver demand you to give them a tip they say after ten don't take orders ok. I call 930 at night and they refused to take my order. Last time they had bring new order because they cook hair was in my food. Never again order from this place. read more

The entire inside was shut down but they were still making food which is a good thing. I'm guessing they're not very good listeners because I did ask them to have boneless ribs but I got bone in ribs. It was kind of slippery so be careful if you go in this place it's nice and stuff and they don't allow bather use. Stand at the counter with everyone else no social distance really. The food was decent, although I had some refried rice and ribs I had ask for boneless ribs but I got the bone in which I did not want, the ribs didn't have very much meat on them. overall though it was a good experience if you don't wanna cook at home and have a taste for Chinese food I would recommend this place. read more

New China Star - the outside of the restaurant - Chinese Near Me - Dunmore, Pennsylvania

Was ok 3 stars because no utensils, napkins or plates were given with my to go order. You order to go, should come automatically, or at-least ask if you need anything. Big chunks of onion in food, and hair was found on my meal. read more

New China Star - a plate of rice and vegetables - Chinese Near Me - Dunmore, Pennsylvania

Order from there once A week at least... always good!! Very consistent!! Always good with requests!!!

Awesome General Tso's Chicken! Soups and veggies are great too! Also Boneless Pork Ribs and fried chicken.

This is probably one of the best Chinese restaurants in Scranton/Dunmore area. They are one of the only ones that offer vegetable dumplings. Very quick with their orders, yet competent. Every time we order from here, we are not disappointed. I love the vegetable chow mein. My son loves their sweet and sour chicken. I've ordered many things off the menu. Too many to name but have been completely satisfied with everything I order...and I'm pretty pick I've updated this review because I've ordered so much in the past. Everything was always delicious but they have a major problem forgetting stuff or messing up our orders. Either they forget the crispy noodles for chow mein or give us meat dumplings when we order vegetable. We are vegetarian and that's a big mess up. Also my husband is allergic to shrimp. On the occasion we order spring rolls, they give us shrimp rolls. I'm just sick of them messing things up. They need to get their act together or we'll order from elsewhere. read more

Food always awesome and delicious General Tso 's Chicken and any other meal u get from here it's the best we have lived here 10 years now

Great place to get a bite. Friendly employees Delicious food Delivery is always on a good time read more

Had wrong order twice in two weeks. Have been going here for years , when called to rectify it all they said this is what you were charged for. Didn't offer to bring the right thing.. Never go again. Very rude. read more

Wouldn't call it the best Chinese food. Took over an hour to deliver. Skimpy portions. Still looking for a place that has authentic fried rice that doesn't have the yellow out of the box look. read more

This place is very dirty and unsanitary, it's definitely unsafe to consume food from here. Some of the pictures posted aren't even china star, they are from sushi and Thai which is actually a clean, delicious restaurant right next door. Don't make the mistake by ordering from new china star. Sushi and Thai may be a little more pricy than the Chinese but it's definitely worth it. The picture I attached is right from behind the new china star. read more

New China Star - I work near this restaurant and have to walk past New China Star and this is how it looks. - Chinese Near Me - Dunmore, Pennsylvania

I tried this place several more times this past year and has gone down hill. Boneless spare ribs are always a little more burnt than other places and also don't have as much flavor. Dumplings also changed with thin dough. Only ordered from here the last year because I pick up sushi from next door. read more

Awesome Chinese food! The family that runs this place also own the Sushi Thai restaurant next door and they are both great. New China star is very casual and I usually just get take out from here. They have the best fried rice I've had in a long time and the place is very clean and well maintained. You can actually see into the kitchen where the cooks are and watch them make your food. This is something I like since food safety is top on my list when choosing a place to eat. read more

Flavors were good but my sesame beef was covered in a snotty thick sticky sauce and the beef was rubbery. I won't eat here again

Hands down best chinese food in the area. If you're in Scranton and you're not getting your chinese fix from the New China Star (next to Burger King) in Dunmore.....you're doing it wrong! Takeout pints/quarts served in the soup containers, which keeps things HOT is an extra bonus. I don't think I can eat at another chinese place ever again, this one puts them all to shame. read more

What you would expect for strip mall Chinese food . Food was on the skimpy side . They charge you for every little thing . Chile oil .37 cents noodles for soup .80 cents . Don't think I wound go back . Would try else wear . Food was fair shrimp was mushy not fresh . read more

Located in a newer shopping center near the interstate, they are mainly a takeout place with a few tables for eat in customers. The counter staff is fast and friendly. Our orders were taken and brought to the table in a few minutes. The place was well kept. Our food was average overall, not special but filling. read more

I have yet to find any really good food in Scranton and after eating nothing but pizza and pasta for a week, this was a welcome surprise. It was delivered to our hotel in half the time they estimated and was pretty cheap as well. It came to just under $13 for two dishes and veggie spring rolls which were delicious but really tiny. The dishes came with steamed rice which was nice. read more

Big Disappointment Veggie Lo Mein: No veggies? A few morsels of broccoli in a quart serving. General Tso's chicken, soggy, old Special Lo Mein, Not so special. Soggy Lo Mein, lame shrimp Egg Rolls, stale, soggy. I look at the previous good reviews and can only guess there is a change in management? read more

Was good but nothing to brag about. Food was delivered fast and was still hot. Would get food from there again.

New China Star is very good. Your standard American Chinese food, delivered fast and piping hot. Pickup and eat in is available, but hey, order it. Tip the driver well, too. They never forget my requested chopsticks or extra duck sauce. Always friendly on the phone, although I like to order on their web page. I also highly recommended Great Wall by the Dunmore community center and Little League. read more

The food was good but come on letting your kids run around in the dining area making all kinds of noise come on? No one wants to listen to that while they eat read more

A few weeks back, my boyfriend and I tried New China Star one night down at a friend's house. We live in Clarks Summit and our local restaurants are just okay. Now we drive to Dunmore every Sunday for our Chinese food as we've become quite addicted to their food! read more

Good food but when you call an order in they're usually quite rude and hang up on you before you finish your order.

Been ordering here for years. Recently went down hill. Food quality is not the same and long delivery times. I heard ownership changed, not sure how true that is but I've def. noticed a change. Wish it was as good as it used to be. read more

I have been ordering from here several times a month for years and until last night was pleased with the quality of the food. I ordered Kung Pao Chicken that was so over cooked it was completely inedible. My wife's spring rolls were burned and she only got 2 skimpy pieces of broccoli with her sesame chicken. When I called to complain I was treated extremely rudely by 3 different people. Not going back! read more

It's good food but sometimes it's not worth the hour to an hour and a half wait. Thought they forgot about me or something.

I order from here weekly. Today I found a crimpy piece of metal the size of my pinky in my food. I called ..the lady said its from one of the cleaners and its happened once before a long time ago and she's sorry and they'll change them more. If its happened twice it'll happen again. I will no longer eat here. What if it was my kids or someone else's child. It was sharp at both ends. If you still decide to eat here please check your child's food before they eat it and your own read more
