Great Wall used to be my nearest Chinese rest. I went there at least once a week and the food was always excellent. I have since moved a little farther away from it, so I dont go as frequently as I used to but when I do its always still excellent. Post Covid I dont "think" they do in house dining anymore, just takeout but I only ever did take out. They are always nice on the phone and its always done and ready in 10 minutes, Im not sure how, but its always ready when I get there. read more

This was my go to Chinese restaurant for three years. Recently the portion sizes got substantially smaller and the prices were raised. A quart of lo mein is no longer a quart. It is a plastic dish that looks like about a pint and a half. I don't mind paying a little extra to get the quantity I'm used to, but when you lower the quantity and raise the price, I feel like a sucker. No more business for you. read more

We have ordered from Great Wall twice now, and both times we were really impressed. So far, everything that I've tried from here has been fantastic, and there is always enough food for leftovers. The employees are very polite, and delivery is always fast. They usually say it's about 30 to 45 minutes for delivery, but both times it's been much quicker than that. We're very new to the Scranton area, but at least we've found a great Chinese place! read more

The soup was bland, the egg rolls were okay but my meal was not great. Nothing was really wrong with it, it just simply didn't taste very good. Couldn't put my finger on it, just not good. My wife meal was the same, just overall not good. read more

Average. Maybe above average because of their consistency. I've ordered out from here a bunch of times and have been satisfied. Well cooked, and done in a timely manner, I don't have any complaints. It's also not exceptional, either. I don't think that I could say that there something here that I couldn't get at another Chinese joint. In the spirit of full disclosure, there are several friends of mine that absolutely swear by this establishment, and think that I undervalue it. completely awful, rude, customer service. hung up on me as i was calling to make sure the kitchen got my "special request" which was only extra sauce on my lo menu and an extra cup of implying dipping sauce. before it head out the restaurant. just as i thought neither of the "special requests were catered to, not only that but the lo mein literally had no sauce at all. I called back asked for a manager and or supervisor and was refused one cut off and was told if i didn't like my order not to come back, and hung up on. To top it off i called back two more times and they picked up and hung up on me 0/10 would not reccomend. Not only is that completely unacceptable customer service but the food is horrible. luckily i ordered through DD and they were more than happy to help. they listened to my statement and reached out to the restaurant themselves and received the same disrespect supposedly talked to a "supervisor" but they refused to give their name. the owner was "not interested in issuing a refund or fixing the order, the customer service representative refunded me and gave me a credit for the inconvenience. kudos to her for great customer service but yeah don't eat here seriously don't eat here if i could give 0 stars i would read more

I had my order charged twice. I ordered on their website paid with my card. I never had an issue before. I had a confirmation email of the paid order as well as the email from bank. The employee at the desk still rang it up again. I was told leave my phone # they would call later because they were clearly slammed. I thought no problem we can figure this out later. No call after 2 hours I called. I was told it's my banks issue. But really because I then had 2 confirmation emails for 2 charges same amount one at 6:08pm when I ordered online the other at 6:30pm when I picked it up. We went round and round. I tried to present my order # from my confirmation email the employee said it doesn't matter. Twice we spoke on the phone she slams the phone down. That's incredibly rude. The way she speaks to the teenage employee at the counter is uncalled for. I've witnessed this multiple times in the restaurant. Restaurants get busy no need to treat you teen employee that way she can't work magic. She shouldn't have to apologize to every customer because she is just doing her job. I'll call my bank as soon as they open. I'll dispute the charge if need be. I'm often ordering with my last $ for the month and I could have been over drafted. My pork lo mein sucked dry noodles! My chicken & broccoli was good. I'm disappointed because this is the best Chinese in NEPA & in my neighborhood. If I have to go round and round with them I'll have to stop ordering, sadly. I hope we can come to a successful resolution. I truly do enjoy their food. Update: The owner says below she showed me the receipts except that never happened because we only spoke about the issue over the phone she refused to address in the restaurant. They were very busy I gave her my phone number. My bank confirmed that I was charged twice as well. It doesn't matter if you have been in the same business and building for 30 years. I have ordered from Great Wall Chinese many times in the past. Occasionally, have some bad experience but none that warranted a review. Firstly, I wanted to have my co-workers to try it for the first time and I spoke very highly of this place. We were excited to get the food but our excitement turned into disappointment. The bag was soaked with oil from the three egg rolls. Three! I know they are fried but they were more like oil rolls. The Chicken with broccoli was not like most restaurants- they use the white sauce rather than brown sauce and the chicken did not look like chicken used in most places. This chicken was chewy and not tender- half was not able to be eaten. The chicken with garlic sauce fell well below of other restaurants in the area not spicy and not as flavorful. The shrimp with broccoli was okay not like others with the brown sauce. Its like the meats were boiled. Needless to say, my co-workers will not order from here again. I may be hesitant. Rating for a take out Chinese. Not good, not bad. Ordered egg roll, hot & sour soup, BBQ ribs & beef broccoli. Egg roll crisp & delicious. Soup lacked flavor. Every hot & sour different but this had no depth at all. Lots of tofu was nice. BBQ ribs above average meaty & flavorful. Beef Broccoli had little flavor. Next day flavor better. Woman/owner at front desk pretty & polite. I'm used to CA style Chinese food which is amazing but I was starving with no food I. The house. This stretched 5 meals for me so economical. Been looking for a new Chinese takeout since my go-to (also in Dunmore) has changed owners and the quality (not to mention cleanliness) has went way down hill - not a fan of finding maggots in the rice and I think I may have found it. Interior as well as the entire building is updated. The food was great quality Chinese takeout. Vegetables were crisp and fresh, good noodles, and the meal wasn't drowned in soy and oyster sauce flavors came from the ingredients. I've had a lot of Chinese food a lot of places and this is honestly the best. Who would think that a little hole-in-the-wall place in Pennsylvania would have good Chinese food? I had little hope. But I was so wrong. The Great Wall's steamed dumplings are 100% the BEST I have EVER had. EVER. Everything else they have is good, too, but for real try their dumplings. Also, you get so much food for the price. Every time we have family and friends come visit us we make sure to get Chinese one night and they're always blown away. I recently ordered their curry chicken w/onion just out of curiosity, and I wasn't disappointed (more watery than the curry you'd get from a Thai place, but still delicious). Five stars as a great example of your typical Chinese takeout place. In strip mall take out, it's as good as it gets. Fried stuff is not too greasy because their oil is hot enough, and stuff is not overcooked. Quick delivery. Not a single other storefront in the shopping center is occupied.
