I have bought food here for years. In the past it was good. The last year it has fallen to a level I that Is no longer acceptable. Price has risen but so has food everywhere. Quantity has dropped. A few weeks ago I got hot and sour soup and it was quite good and freshly made while I watched. Today I ordered a combo platter with ribs fried rice and egg roll. The egg roll was the best I've ever had. The rice was God awful, as dry a fried rice and flavorless. The ribs were dried out, well where they weren't full on fat that was inedible. So the food is good, but there were another a number of little hangups and disappointments that overall made it not a great experience. My noodle dish with beef needed four times as much meat to have me really happy with it or at least double to not warrant mentioning in a review. In the quart size entree there was like maybe 4 ounces of beef. Since there are about six meals worth of noodles there or to eat till you're uncomfortable ones it is highly disappointing. I always have some noodles left proteins been picked out, but I am in one scoop in the container that was the case. I also got the wrong type of noodles. I wasn't sure whether the wide flat ones like a Thai drunken noodle were called chow fun or chow me in and I asked, describing it multiple ways, and saying very clearly that I wanted the wine noodles. I got the thinnest Chinese noodles I've ever seen. It was still good. I was just really craving the other. It was the only reason I placed the order, and I never would have ordered Chinese had I known I was getting these noodles. Which is why I was so careful to ask repeatedly Oh, and the pork fried rice... I can't tell if I got the right thing or not usually roasted pork fried rice it has bits of pork and like the little peas and carrots and stuff, which I don't even care about them being there and you're negligible amount of vegetables, but I'm used to it for appearance for sure, and the no meat then threw me off, but I mean, it's sort of tastes like fried rice. I don't think it's a brown rice, but that's how it is in appearance. Basically, I think there are two possibilities with this place... Either it is really pretty good because as a passing Lee mentioned, and will say again here the preparation and flavor was very very good. Truly no complaints in that department so either it's a really great Chinese joint , that was having a very off night, they appear busy. Or on the other hand, it could be that they are cutting corners, and I have poor oversight. Oh, the order was ready fast and the guy at the counter was nice. Wow, this place exceeded my expectations! In Philly, I've got my favorite joint that I didn't think could be topped, but when visiting home we got takeout from here and it blew me away. Sorry to my Philly spot, but this is now my number one (if I'm ever in the area again). Gen Tso's? Fantastic. Sesame Chicken? Wonderful. Pork Lo Mein? Great. Crab Rangoon? The best I've had in a while. For all that (plus a beef with mixed veggie combo platter and egg roll AND a chicken mixed veggie dish) it came to like $58, which is amazing considering it fed four hungry adults AND there were leftovers. Eastern Wok Restaurant ROCKS! They answer the phone promptly and courteously. They prepared and delivered my food in great time! The driver was social distancing while remaining friendly and positive. AND THE FOOD - Oh my! UBER delicious! I ordered more than once for myself, then I thought I would try it out for guests. I'm a block away and waited nearly an hour for general tsos combo, finally arrived and they "gave egg roll ro another customer " and the chicken was so overcooked it was rock hard on the outside and dry and stringy on the inside. Excellent service. They are very friendly. The reason for no fifth star is they don't know the differences between steamed and fried dumplings. Foods isn't bad. $10 minimum for delivery is a bit high for me but not uncommon or unreasonable. read more
