And I wasn't smart about it and walked out of there with a lot less than I thought I was going to get with the calculations. Drove over there 2 times from Idaho more then 80 min drive and 2 time they were closed when they were to be open. No were sorry just got talked to like a five yr. old and was told that if were closed it's because I am doing some thing. that is not my problem if you say your open to 5 then your open to s. I have purchased gold and sold silver at this location previously and was treated better but I paid a hundred dollars over spot for every gold coin I purchased. It seemed like a high price but I was told "no body gets to buy at wholesale price, not even dealers". But today I wanted to sell some silver coins and was offered under spot price to sell to them. Silver spot price is low right now and I was already selling at a loss. But Chris decided He wanted to buy "wholesale" from me today) I felt taken advantage of, so I left with my coins. I took them to another Coin shop a few blocks away and was paid $2.00 over spot for every coin I sold. It felt more fair and ethical. It can't just work in the dealers favor. My husband called today acquiring if they had 10 ounce silver bars and price. Lady answering stated they did and the price was $260. He questioned why the higher fee on a bar than coins? (He was just in there a couple days ago). Her reply, we got them if you want them and hung up on him. My husband went to a competitor and spent $230 a bar. They have a gal working in the place who calls herself the manager but should be learning more. My husband died so I went to cash coins we had purchased. Lock box was empty so took other set of keys. I was newly widowed, and in a lot of grief. Daughter was with me thankfully. I told girl the box was empty and would not be using, telling her I cancelled. She'd need the keys, ok. I was hit by a Kia that hydroplaned into me. I ended up in Idaho waiting for part. Anyway, winter storm was literally the next day starting so I took off. I figured I'd mail them. I finally was able to call. She tells me I have to come in, I tell her I can't. She'll not release anything as I have to come in. I apologize, I was never told and was going to mail keys and tell to of course keep key deposit for trouble. She's yelling at me, unprofessional at best, covering her ass as I was trying to speak through her yelling. I later get a nasty letter telling me they're going to drill holes in box and keep all the contents (uh, cobwebs). She was told early on I was not renewing box. She should have said what rules were. Lesson learned. This place completely took advantage of me. I brought in 4 1 oz. gold coins. One of the coins was an MS69 2006 gold Buffalo. This was the first year they came out. The guy behind the counter gave me spot price as an estimate for all 4. I asked him, "aren't Numismatic graded coins worth more?" He straight lied to my face and told me there was no added value to graded coins! About 2 years later, I told my Uncle about my experience. He is an avid collector of rare coins. He told me I got scammed and that the Buffalo was worth about $3500 (that was at least 5 years ago). I know I should have done my own research, but you go to these "professionals" for their "expertise," not to get robbed! I will continue to shout my story from the mountaintops until the end of time! Would give zero stars if I could. Brought in a pile of old/damaged gold to get a value quote to sell it. They offered me $385.00 or so but less than $400. I then took same pile to American Coin & Vault on Wall Street and received $791.00 for same exact pile. Found out they pay 90% price of gold. Coin Plus as you can see is only paying about 50%. Offered me $50 for a rare coin I eventually sold for $1200. I acted like I had no clue what it was when I went in their to test their honesty and there is nothing honest about this shop. This shop does worse than try to Low Ball you offers, they offer prices with creative justifications that are borderline stealing or just taking advantage of people who don't know better. If you want a fair offer, avoid a shop at all costs and go to any other shop. read more

Watch out for this dealer. As a new buyer of gold and silver they ripped me off. Bought 22 lbs of junk silver when it spot was $14.40/oz, a couple of years later went back to sell when spot was $19.50 and they offer me less than the original purchase. They mumbled about premium being more then. So I just returned today when spot was over $23 and they offered me less than 5% over my original purchase price. I wasn't sure if they cheated me on the buy or the buy back but now am convinced they scam you at both ends. I understand it's "buyer beware" but I flatly state "beware of this dealer". read more

I inherited a large collection of old coins much of what was Morgan Silver dollars. When I took the coins in to get an estimate on their value. The manager started asking me how much money did I need. I told him I only wanted to get a quote on their value which he did not want to do. When I went to pick up my coins he tried to stop me. Than he offered me $2.00 each and said that was a dollar above their actual value. My Morgan dollars were solid silver and dated back in The 50's. I advise people to avoid doing business of any kind with this outfit. read more

Went to Coins Plus to sell a 3.07 carat brilliant diamond. It's a VS 2 with H color and retailed for $41,000. After it went to the back room and two employees examined it for a half hour, Coins Plus called it a fake, even with all the.documents and paperwork submitted. Well, Coins Plus, it's real and you shouldn't be in business when dealing with precious stones. Gold, Silver? bring it in. You may not get the value (based on some customers reviews), but when it comes to diamonds, you'll probably get a better experience with a grade schooler. Spend less money on TV commercials and more on someone who knows what a diamond is. read more

Went there to sell a small amount [less than 1/2 oz-t] old platinum wire that I had used ages ago. There were 2 types - 100% pure and 90 - 10% Platinum - Iridium. Both are worth the same as it is hard to alloy platinum with anything else. This wire was used for thermocouples that went on a NASA satellite and was highly controlled all the way from the refiner. I gave the material to the guy at the counter and he said he needed to verify if it was real. Sure, no problem. After 5 minutes he came back and said it was only 80% pure!! So there are 2 possibilities here; 1. He is a liar and was trained to be such by the folks that run the business. 2. He is mistaken. He said he ran the "test" 3 times and it showed the same results. The difference he offered me was $100 below the fair price at a 25% handling fee. You make the call, liars or idiots? In that business I'm not sure which is worse. Like I said it was a small amount and is not the end of the world in any case. It just irks me that these self promoting so-called Christians would be so dishonest. And no, I don't own another coin shop or compete in any way. But I do wonder why they disabled their review section on Yahoo. Hmmmmm??!! read more

I have shopped at Coins Plus for years and after a recent visit just to look at my safety deposit box I was struck once again by their friendly staff and efficiency in getting me into the storage area even though they were busy. I've purchased both numismatic and proof gold, silver, and platinum coins from them since they were inside Pounder's jewelry next door. And, I am always amazed that they remember me, even if it's been 6 month since my last visit. I love that they don't try to sell you the "newest" thing but just ask questions and listen. I've purchased coins from that other radio show, Goldline, in the past. I guess I got caught up in the moment, but, I always felt a little foolish afterward because I payed too much for what I bought. Never again. Very displeased. i was in the Military and had currency from japan and korea. The won was 60,000 and yen was 18,000. I had a estimate of how much it would be in American and figured id make atleast $150. Once it was all counted, bills and change, he looked at me and said he could only give me like $5.
