I recently went into American coin and vault with my gold and I was simply trying to negotiate a better price for myself and some guy from the back comes out and says get the F out of my store and he used the word and I said why are you being so rude to me he says get out now All I was doing was trying to negotiate. I've been a business owner for 44 years people negotiate with me every day I either can give them a better deal or I can't, but I'm very polite about it so I wouldn't even give these guys a one star rating to be honest the rudest person I have ever dealt with in my entire life. all he had to say is we don't negotiate and I would've been good with that. To the owner of American coin and vault, you should be careful about what you write about people as you will leave yourself open to a lawsuit for liable what you wrote about me is complete lies and fabrication. We can go back to your security cameras, and I will be proven correct. never was I rude or threw around profanity in your store wasn't rude to your sales people. Wanted to get some coins as gifts for customers. The crew at American made some great suggestions and explained what spot price was and over spot. We got some great thank you gifts and I just really appreciate the thoughtfulness and patience they offered. I did this because I was given the gift of a coin long ago and still remember the gift. side note: I walked over to the Jewelry side of the business and got my wife a very nice gift. It was priced on the market value of the material,.... think about that. Without going into detail.. very beautifully made and not something crazy expensive but from the 20s or '30s and just historically beeeeutiful with some precious metal in it. Worst customer service. I recently called them just to ask them if they did appraisals on diamonds. The guy I spoke to on the phone was so incredibly rude. He didn't even answer the phone American coin Vault. Then I asked him if this was American Coin vault and he said yup, what do you need? The employee I spoke to was Shan or Shane I couldn't quite here his name. Whatever his name, sorry I bothered you for doing your job. This is the only place you would want to deal with in the Spokane region. I've been coming here for 25 years. I've also recommended them to many others over the years with no problems. Keep in mind that in the precious metals business if you hear advertising on the radio, see ads on the internet or in publications you are the one that is going to pay for those promotions through higher prices. There is no free lunch. The Spokesman review did a survey of most all the dealers in the area, checking to see who charged the least and paid the most, and American came out on top! I drove past them so many times and I never knew they were there. On a recommendation from my parents, who have had a fair amount of jewelry repaired there, I googled them. On the map, it showed they were North of Pizza Rita. Little did I know, they are right next door! Pretty convenient. There service was excellent and very affordable. They repaired my wife's wedding ring for about a third of what the store in the mall wanted to charge us. And we BOUGHT IT AT THE MALL. Apparently, resizing is not part of the warranty. Very quick work and very honest. I inquired about replacing the stone in my wedding band with a genuine sapphire and the salesman rather than try to sell me something I didn't really need, told me a real sapphire wouldn't look or shine any different than what I had already. I will definitely go back to them when I need some more repairs or new jewlry. read more

A few days ago I wrote a review about Coinsplus that was very honest but not very positive. It had to do with a small amount of platinum wire that I had in the back of a drawer that I wanted to sell. Today I took the same wire to American coin to see how they would appraise it. I was expecting the same dishonest treatment but was quite pleasantly surprised. The counter guy had a very fancy handheld device that calculated the purity of the metal. It was exactly correct at 99.99% pure. The other piece was 90/10 Pt- Ir and read out at 89.99% Pt. I knew both of these were accurate because the material was used for making thermocouples on Nasa satellites. The thieves at Coinsplus "tested" it and claimed it to be only 80% platinum. I knew it was a lie since Platinum melts at ~3300F and is very hard to alloy with lesser metals. The net difference of their offer was $325 compared to $530. Which one would you choose? The folks at American coin apologized for only giving me 85% of the spot price. That is fine with me as I was expecting them to only give me 75%! Again, this was just a small transaction and not a huge amount of money. No, I'm not related to the folks there at American coin either. But I do like to give a good reference to the few people out there that are honest and deserve a good reputation. Be careful out there, it's a jungle! read more

We were encouraged to convert what silver we had from our estate sale into cash or silver rounds for investment. Upon entering this business, no one looked up to greet us, which I thought was less than a welcoming gesture. We stepped forward to begin our business. We had a number of coins that the one man began to stack in respective monetary value piles. However, as he did so, he'd toss a rejected coin onto the counter at us, not hand it to us. We'd have to pick it up. He'd toss it rudely (bad body language) as he' say "That's trash, go spend it elsewhere" After a couple times of this repeated maneuver, we grew angry at his disrespectful attitude. When he got to a couple personal silver heirlooms, he spoke of the items as trash and garbage. Even if this is the jargon used in that business or industry, I found this hateful and very insulting! I added that I will take my garbage home! The other man behind the counter added that we had wasted their time! We are the customer and had felt very unwelcome. Business attitude should mean something along the lines of good customer service, whether or not these people pay well or not for the exchange of your property, please consider their tacky pitiful attitudes towards the customer, and that means YOU... read more

They are very trustworthy straight shooters with the best buy and sell premiums in the eastern Washington - North Idaho area. If they have it in stock they are far better than most, but even if they have to order they are still as low or lower than anyone else. They also will deal in any amounts of any of the 5 precious metals (Au, Ag, Pt, Pd, Rh) unlike many other dealers that only want small bars or rounds and sometimes won't even deal with Pt, let alone Palladium or Rhodium.
