I cannot recommend Austin's Fine Jewelry enough! I tell everyone I know! We found them by accident, but have been nothing but blown away by Tammy and her care with our jewelry journey. When we came in looking for an engagement ring she educated us on diamond cuts, quality, and so much more. She ordered us a cut that I wanted that isn't often chosen, not once, but twice, to make sure I loved it and customized the setting to my liking. She was able to utilize family jewelry to make my fiancé's wedding band and completely recreate a band I liked from the store to fit my needs and style--and all of this while staying well within our budget! In 2020, I had my ring (originally purchased from another out of business jeweler) reset at Austin's for my 10 year wedding anniversary. I was very pleased with the result and Dan and his team were great to work with. Fast forward to 2023... I visited Austin's Fine Jewelery to have my ring sized. I worked with Tammy, this time, she indicated Dan had sold the business and was "stepping back". Tammy and I agreed that my three band ring would be "un-soldered", gold added to size it up, and then "re-soldered". I have a previous bad experience with a jeweler simply thinning the band, snd the band later breaking, and when I asked Tammy about that she assured me that "Austin's never does that". One week later I pick up my wedding ring to find that only had the bands been thinned, but now they are mishapen. When I expressed my concern to Tammy, it was met with an argument, defensive of the shotty craftsmanship of their jeweler. She assured me that Kelly, the jeweler, "normally does great work" despite my disfigured ring. I asked how much gold, in weight, was added, she couldn't answer me. After about 10 minutes of me carefully pointing out the damage, Tammy ultimately agreed with me that the work was not of top quality, and needed to be fixed. I asked to speak to the jeweler so that I could ensure my expectations were clearly understood and she refused to speak to me. I asked for another jeweler to make the corrections (add gold BACK in, ensuring sizing was accurate and correct the damage Kelly did), and the only person they could offer me was someone they occasionally "give side jobs to". I asked to speak to the owner who was "off for the weekend". I requested a refund and the person working the front desk "didn't know how to give refunds". This place has seriously gone downhill since it was sold by Dan. Take your business ANYWHERE else. My wedding ring is damaged due to their negligence and inability to take accountability to ensure quality. If you care about quality, and taking care of your most precious jewelry, skip Austin's. You'll only be met with not only disappointing results but poor customer service as well. If I could have chosen ZERO stars, I would have. I finally was able to get in touch with the owner, Trina, 3 days later. She didn't apologize, offer to correct anything and took zero accountability for her business and employees. I recently made the decision to have a "monumental" ring created after 30 years of wishing for it. Needless to say, it was a huge decision and one I researched significantly. I looked online and at local and regional jewelers. Even Seattle. A friend of mine who is a jeweler out of state who previously lived in Spokane asked why I wasn't going to Austin's? It seemed pretty clear to her. I finally, after significant research went to Austin's. And this was the best decision I could make! At Austin's I was lucky to meet up and work directly with Kelly Dullanty. Kelly has a background of over 30 plus years in fine jewelry design and creation. I was definitely benefited by his expertise and his suggestions to me in the creation of this "one time only" piece of jewelry. He took his time and we created and discussed what I expected. His expertise helped me to customize the ring to a point of even better than I expected. There are lots of options out there. Cheap, cheaper, easier. I would not take that route with something so important. I worked with Austin's to design our wedding set - a carved band with inset gems for my husband and an accent piece to fit around my engagement ring. We'd tried about three jewelers where we live in Seattle, but they were either incredibly expensive or uninterested in our feedback on the design process, and all were unhappy we were using our own stones. Since my mother had recently re-designed her wedding ring with Austin's (with amazing results!) I thought that would be the way to go. Our entire process was long-distance, with my mother bringing in the jewels we already had and my design drawings. It was a little tight down to the deadline, but with the winter holidays and Valentine's day between our collaboration and the final piece, I can understand they were busy. The staff took feedback on the process very well and were gracious about the misunderstandings that long-distance collaboration created. They even did a Skype showing of the final results - a first for them! The end price was also reasonable, reflecting their expertise and artistry without marking up for reputation (as I suspect with some other jewelers we talked to). We are SO happy with our rings.
