My dark chocolate mocha and bacon & egg protein bowl.
    Kevin S.

I reviewed, "Coffee Slingers", roughly a year ago and gave them three stars. My main gripes for the three stars was the time of which it took to get your order and the inconsistency of the quality. Well, a year has gone by and I have going to "Slingers" more and more in recent months and thought I'd give an update. I am upping the star rating to a four. Reason being is the customer service, as it always was, is great. The girls inside the booth always have a welcoming smile on their faces and do their best to make it a personable experience. However, the biggest reasons I am upping the rating is that they have significantly improved on my two gripes mentioned above. First, the speed. There has been a couple hiccups here and there but for the most part, the wait time has been reduced. Even if there's a car or two ahead, it's still nowhere near as long as it once was. They have also been much more consistent on the quality. The drinks no longer taste different with each visit. Their rewards system was also improved. Before, you simply get 10 stamps and your 11th was free. The confusion was which size you were able to get. Now, there are three tiers on your rewards card. Small, medium, and large. You receive a single punch for each size you ordered. Once you reach 10 punches of that size, you get a free drink of that size. While things have improved and I'm now a regular of this establishment, there are a couple things I would like to see improved/implemented. First, being a tech guy, I would like to see a digital version of their reward card implemented. Right now, you either have to keep track of multiple cards (depending on your variety of orders) or ask them to transfer punches to a new card once you cash in that free one. A digital version would eliminate this hassle and in my opinion, simplify it. Second, I would like to see more healthier options added to the food menu. Right now, your choices are a breakfast burrito, bagel sandwiches, and a protein bowl. The ingredients all seem to consist of the same thing. Eggs, bacon, sausage, cheese, etc. It would be great to see ingredients such as egg white, spinach, and granola becoming an option as well. "Coffee Slingers" has made significant strides over the last year and I highly recommend them whether you are a local or you are just passing through. I took my Mom here while she was in town and she said her Macchiato was the best she's ever had and that's coming from a huge Starbucks fan. So if you've been on the fence about them, give them a shot or second chance. I don't think you will regret it.

Perfect little oasis during a long drive. The staff was friendly, the breakfast sandwich was delicious, and the smoothies were to die for. Definitely bookmarking this place in case we're ever back in Northern Nevada.

On a road trip to Vegas, we missed the stop for Starbucks, ended up finding this little gem of a coffee shop in Yerington. The coffee was delicious, the piña colada smoothie was sweet and refreshing, the bagel had a nice texture and the breakfast burrito tasted like it came from the neighboring ranches. The young lady that was working was very pleasant and sweet. I would recommend stopping by while in Yerington.

This was my first time going to Coffee Slingers Drive-Thru. My barista was really friendly and informative about the upcoming pumpkin spice season (fall). I had a caramel macchiato and banana muffin. Both very delicious to start my morning. Satisfied customer. Will definitely return.

Hometown Coffee sits in an old house someone cared enough to fix up. Big windows. Open seating. Warm inside. The kind of place you wish more places were. Feels more like Gardnerville or midtown Reno. But better, because it's here. Local. Real. You could bring out of town friends here and not feel the need to explain anything. They'd get it. The staff knows their stuff. They're kind without trying. They ask the right questions. They remember what you like. The building feels like it's been waiting for this to happen. Like it was always meant to be a place where people sit and talk and feel at home. I've come here a few times since they opened. Read a little. Worked on some designs. Sipped coffee or Thai tea. Never once felt out of place. The sound in the room stays steady. Just enough voices to keep you company. Not so much you have to fight to think. I'll keep coming back. I'll keep telling people. Not because it's flashy or loud. But because it's good. And that's rare.

Inside this refurbished old grammar school is an amazing little cafe operated by YTA. I used to come to the cafe when I lived in Yerington and it was under different management. I am so happy to see that the Cafe has been revived under the capable management of Roy Enochson, the Executive Director of YTA. A friend and I decided to have lunch here recently. The Cafe is in the lobby area of the Theater and serves as a place to eat, an art gallery and a boutique for all sorts of arts and crafts most of which are locally made. The space is a bit like being in a favorite Auntie's parlor with little tables, comfy chairs and a visual cornucopia of treasures. My friend ordered the lunch special - butternut squash ravioli with a side salad. I ordered the Cafe Signature Salad - a lovely fresh blend of baby greens, apples, cheese, cranberries, candied walnuts all lightly dressed with a white balsamic vinaigrette. I also had a blood orange Italian Soda. The food was all tasty and fresh. Service was vey friendly, but the food was slow coming out. It was worth the wait. Our total bill for the two of us was under $20. While the portions were not huge, the meal was satisfying and the quality was excellent. This is a definite place to stop if you are in the area. It is a fabulous alternative to the fast food and casino coffee shops that are in the area.

Not many know this place has a Cafe inside, so you'll typically, especially during lunch, be able to sit and eat in relative peace. Which is a nice change of pace from other, full-fledge restaurants.

The build-your-own salads are a dream. You pick your greens (lettuce, kale, spinach), then go absolutely wild with unlimited toppings, veggies, cheeses, nuts, seeds, plus a huge portion of protein (chicken, tofu, or tuna) for around $15. I haven't found another place that lets you build a salad this loaded without charging you for every extra sprinkle of goodness. Now let's talk açaí bowls. The Cool Bowl is my ride-or-die. Banana, blueberries, coconut flakes, granola... it tastes like dessert but doesn't come with the regret of eating a large sized ice cream cone of Handle's upside down pineapple cake (that's still reserved for weekends). It 100% cures my ice-cream cravings. They also have fresh juices, smoothies, and cleanse options for anyone who wants the benefits of juicing without washing a juicer afterward (bless them).
