It's so much more than Bruce Willis' favorite sandwich shop…read more We stopped in to kill an hour on our way to a funeral. My wife had a huge Cobb Salad, mostly iceberg lettuce but with lots of protein toppings. I had two tasty (not Andy's tasty but still pretty good) slices of pizza and a can of soda. The total, including a 3% "Credit Card Surcharge," was $17.45. To me, that's not too shabby. It was also fun browsing their store. The walls are festooned with BW pictures and movie posters. They have lots of interesting stuff for sale, including a large selection of homemade baked goods. The Roman Pantry isn't quite a diner, and if you're looking for a place to eat that isn't one of those (I can't imagine why), or you happen to be at this intersection of N. Golfwood and Rt 48 for some reason, then take a minute and swing by. I know you won't regret it.

It's got to be one of the biggest cheesesteaks I've ever had. But that doesn't mean there's a lack of quality. The meat and cheese ratio were great and melted very nicely. I loved everything about it. I wish I had stayed longer in the store because it seemed like there was a lot to it that I may have missed. Everyone was very helpful and a really cool place that I can't wait to go back. Inside is real authentic.

The down side - they aren't very accommodating when they run out of something. They ran out of rolls on our last visit and refused to allow their cheesesteak to be put on another type of bread (I.e. focaccia, pretzel roll, pizza, etc.) without charging $10 + dollars more just for the swap. They wouldn't even charge less for the cheesesteak without the roll. After waiting an hour to be seated, it was very disappointing not being able to order the meal I came for and nit seeing any flexibility on the part of the management.

Hes so personable and just fun to talk to. They always have a great beer selection and the wine list is a hidden gem in north wilmington This place really does remind me of growing up, going to get pizza after little league, playing video games with my friends, while the coaches and parents drank at the bar Go grab a pizza, a great beer and play some galaga or burger time. Me and my husband got our favorites and the whole table ordered different things there were 12 of us. We got the Seafood Fradiavolo- it was amazing!! And like usual we brought to go containers home and had a whole meal the next day! Everyone was happy with their entrées and the band was good we had never seen them before 'Goody Blue Shoes'. Food, drink, service and atmosphere are all five star if I had one suggestion, it would be to split the bills on bigger groups... you can still charge the gratuity on individual bills. Love this place, will be back in the next couple of weeks!

This time we visited for my birthday- on a Tuesday evening, they are running a two for $60 special. You get a starter, main, and dessert. The options are plentiful for such a complete meal, and I always enjoy my company (the Mr.). I had a spinach strawberry blue cheese candied walnut salad as my starter. I ordered the chicken parm: two thinly (read: perfectly portioned) sliced chicken breasts, coated with bread crumbs and fried, smothered in the same garlicky tomato sauce folded into the most perfectly al-dente pasta noodles. The mozzarella cheese was thoroughly melted and fused into the top layer of the chicken breasts. For dessert, I ordered the lemon mascarpone cake: three layers of the fluffiest, most lemony cake I have ever had. The mascarpone cream was not sugary- again, flavorful and lemony. I always enjoy my meal when I visit and I particularly adore their tomato pie. I have a little trick to being able to score some additional pieces to the two place on your table with warm crusty bread and butter; I have no intentions of sharing my secret! I know the term 'hidden gem' is played out, but this is really one of those places where if you don't know, you will never know. If you decide to try it, it's worth the drive. I have always enjoyed my time, food, and service the numerous times I have visited.

Seagrave's has been feeding me and the good people of Salem with more care than many of us probably deserve. I have sung in a church nearby on occasion for nearly 30 years now and whenever Seagrave's caters our lunches the world feels a little less cruel. A great sub can do that. A cheesesteak even more so. The bread has the right balance of chew and give. The meat is tender and unapologetically plentiful. A sandwich from Seagrave's is not a snack. It is a declaration. You will be full and you will be happy about it. The subs are delicious and reliable, like an old friend who always shows up. The cheesesteaks are even better. Whoever decided that much beef and that much cheese should share the same roll should be awarded a medal. For half a century or more the Seagrave family made this little white concrete box on West Broadway into one of the best reasons to stop in Salem. Now it is under new management. You may worry that something this good could slip away. Do not worry. The family is still watching and still guiding and based on my most recent meal the sandwiches are as tremendous as ever. The building itself looks like nothing much. For years there was not even a sign. You had to know where to go and if you were lucky enough to know you went. Word of mouth was more than enough advertising because food like this does its own talking. So here is the advice. Put Seagrave's into your GPS. Park outside the plain white building. Step inside. Order a sub or better yet a cheesesteak. Watch them pile it high and then take the whole glorious thing back to your house or your car or your church hall. Take a bite. Life will not be perfect but it will be slightly better. Five stars. Always has been. Always will be.
