This may be the headquarters of Brandywine Coffee Roasters (part of the same business as Brew HaHa…read morecoffee) but they do not sell a wide range of Brandywine Coffee and the coffee that they serve in the cafe is under the label BrewHaHa. The coffee was fine, staff was friendly, and the space was very comfortable with plenty of seating and tables. As a roaster, Brandywine is amazing. I have ordered their beans many times for me pretty much all home brewing methods (hario, kalita, immersion, batch, and espresso). I am always impressed by the quality of their coffee, their wide range of offerings, and their artwork. But, if you are hoping to visit one of the best roasters in the country and try a variety of different coffees, this is not the place for you. No pour overs, and the espresso and drip coffee were only so-so. Beats Starbucks, Dunkin, and a lot of other coffee shops, but not a worthwhile detour/destination. The 4 stars is for the cafe experience. As a roaster, Brandywine is undoubtedly 5/5!

Coffee addic...I mean aficionados seek out the purest form of caffeine delivery in the spectrum of taste. Spending lots of money on single origin coffee, fancy grinders, and the like is not to get any enhanced caffeine high but it is to unlock discernible flavor profiles. Ask anyone who is familiar with single origin coffee and they probably could taste test a blind pour over and tell which region of Earth from which the fruit originates. Anyway, that aside, where is there to go with coffee purchasing beyond taste? Well, that's where the importance of who exactly is roasting and selling comes into play. Brandywine Coffee Roasters is a perfect example of blending art and taste. The art-part is standout here. I haven't really felt the need to save a coffee bag before and consider hanging on a wall, but it's easy to see why one might want to with the artwork of Todd Purse (local Delaware artist and resident screenprinter). I did some digging and Brandywine roasters actually started as BrewHaHa! and others in the 90s. It and has been around in its current form since 2015. I really enjoyed the bags; they apparently are all done in-house in a printing shop and are hand-printed. Besides the artwork, each bag has traceable detailed information about the coffee within and a wax seal. You can see how cool the artwork is; I picked up a few bags for Halloween. The coffee itself was on par with any other high quality small roaster; the roast is light to medium with a good smooth flavor profile that was mildly fruity but more subtle that I was expecting given the artwork (maybe next time I shouldn't look at horror movie inspired knife while tasting). Highly recommended, especially if you have a coffee lover and need a thoughtful gift.

There were two small groups of people noisily chatting away, the entire place was giving friendly vibes. The person behind the counter asked if it was my first time there, if I prefer hot drinks (yes), and that anything they have listed on their iced menu can be done just as well hot. He then asked what my regular drink was. I shared it was a cappuccino, and I do try some syrups, but don't like things that are too sweet. He then suggested a smoked chestnut cappuccino- I was in. I also ordered their "vegan" hummus sandwich, and one of the incredible looking prepackaged cinnamon rolls for later. The cappuccino was large. He had a metal lid on it that was set on fire. After a little he quickly put the lid on so the smoke was trapped in the cup. It was an interesting flavor, not sweet, I did enjoy it. The vegan was a very fancy open faced affair served with chips. It was a very good light meal. The gentleman who made the sandwich - the same guy who made the cappuccino - asked me by name how everything was. I can't remember my own name most days so the attention to detail was seriously impressive. After noting all the attention to detail I started looking up the owners info. Wasn't on their Instagram (which I did follow) but was buried somewhere on their website. The gentleman is Aaron, a trained chef who worked around the U.S. and France. Samantha is an established mixologist. No wonder their food and drinks are outstanding in flavor and presentation. Whenever I'm in the area I'll definitely be back. Check them out!

The ceremonial and cheerful chime of bells and spontaneous fanfare welcome newcomers! You instantly cross from a bustling city sidewalk into a sanctuary of warmth decorated in local artistry. The atmosphere blends intimate, historic charm with a vibrant quasi fusion Caribbean palette. Mismatched, colorful plates pass by, piled high with larger-than-life portions; just like home. Local art lines the walls, while a corner stacked with instruments invites patrons to strum or play a casual tune. In the cozy "Safe Zone," guests laugh over vintage board games. Internet quality is excellent if you are remote and in need of a delicious cup of Joe. It feels less like a commercial business and more like a lively family gathering hosted by the owners, Tim and Christine. The execution of the menu by French Chef "Momo" elevates comfort food into a wonderful experience. The French toast special is spectacular: Very fluffy, golden bread, vibrant crown of fresh blueberries and strawberries. A delicate snow of confectionary, very healthy portion of sausage, exceptionally seasoned over-easy eggs, accented with golden, giant crisp home fries completes the morning at home memory. A meal that cannot be rushed but savored while taking in the immensely positive vibes of the establishment. The service matches the caliber of the kitchen. An expert barista named Ivory delivers the house-famous cinnamon cappuccino in a colossal, comforting cup that makes you feel right at home. This rare Wilmington, DE gem transforms dining from a transactional pit-stop to the train-station into an unforgettable experience. It is a rare haven that makes you want to linger long after the final sip of coffee and often into the next meal. I will definitely be returning often to get out of my home-office and savor other delicacies from their ample menu options.

Keep going to the stop sign. When you're at the stop sign look across the street to the left and they're right there. I got lucky and found street parking right in front of their door. Walked in and they were packed. One tiny table open squashed between two others and the bar were my options so I sat at the bar. I try to pay cash at Mom & Pops place so they're not hammered by the credit card fees. They were low on change and recommending credit cards. I dug around in my pockets and found exact change. They were all out of pastries but one. I wanted to try their pasties de nada but all that was left was a croissant so I ordered it, along with their French toast and an oatmilk cappuccino. Turns out the croissant was already purchased by another patron who was going to have it after their meal. It hadn't been served yet. I received a refund. A couple showed up and sat at the bar as all the tables were full. Then someone else showed up and pointed at the seat I had my coat on saying they were told to sit there as it was the last seat open in the entire place. Packed. The French toast came out in good time but somehow my cappuccino got lost in the mix. It was immediately made and brought out. The French toast is as good as everyone says it is. Light, well filled, great flavor without being too sweet. I was trying to eat it all but had to stop 3/4 of the way as somehow it's filling. The cappuccino is also very good. I made the mistake of wanting to try them out at 11:45 on a holiday. 100% my bad. Considering there are only 3 people working the entire establishment, they did a great job. The food and drink were totally worth it and I will be back (at a less busy time)! *Quick add: I usually don't post while in the establishment but did here. Even with it being busy the owner came by to talk about the review and share a little about their business. They do evening events, private dinners. They also host guest chefs. Their goal is to elevate dishes, which is exactly what they did to the French toast. Based on this one breakfast I would definitely consider them for any function I was hosting in the area.
