Good place and nice service! We had some herbal teas because they did not have almond milk or any other alternative milk. The lady said they usually do! The sandwich was good but I would replace that kind of cheese. Love the antiques. read more

Coffee House - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Elizabeth, New Jersey

Ive been going here for years and never had issues in the past. but recently the hostility towards people of the LGBTQ is apperent. Ive always gotten empanadas or fries with friends in this place, and while it is good, the prices are asking too much for what it is. The decor is nice. The people here have told multiple LGBTQ couples to leave or sit in different tables since its 'bad for business'.The main customer base are the high schoolers who comes after thier classes are over. They are located right next to TJAA a school known for its high population of queer students and they made this decision. Even if it didnt alienate a percentage of thier customers, to openly discriminate is so incredibly wrong and unfair. read more

The place is very clean and structured. Here is the issue. I ordered a Taylor ham, egg, and cheese with SPK. No SPK. That was the minor issue. The lack of Taylor ham was upsetting. read more

The food is overpriced for what you get. I've tried various items there such as French fries, onion rings, pupusas, bagels, Coffee, empandas, etc... The onion rings were disgusting. The Portuguese custard pastries are stalle and not worth the money. They are to expensive for what they serve and I haven't had one food item that was tasty to me. The employees have horrible customer service and professionalism....... read more

One of the best I've been too! Delicious fresh baked goods fresh everything We loved it quaint and clean atmosphere has just about everything you can think of for breakfast and lunch! read more

The coffee house it's pretty good. The service is always very nice. It's super convenient for the area and always has a bunch of people there. Some of the items are a little over priced but others are super reasonable so it balances out. I love the spicy beef empanadas and always get a jelly roll. I really wish they got brown sugar or honey as a sweetner. It would make a huge difference in my coffee or tea. Overall, if you're in the area and want a cute little place to grab some tea or light refreshments, this is the place! Just bring your own sugar lol read more

Their refried bean-filled Pupusas are delicious!! Well priced, great portion sizes, chill atmosphere and great service!! Definitely a place I will come back to read more

I had come to this place for a quick brunch with my friends , we were in line to order food but were rudely kicked out because we had one outside drink , I was going to be a paying customer so I had a right to stay but almost all the staff came up to me and friends and argued and kicked us out, didn't even try to politely tell us to leave. Overall bad service , don't think I'll ever come back. read more

The place is nice, clean and well kept. The food is delicious. Their cheese & egg sandwich was super delicious. Their prices are great. The only think I did not like was the coffee, it was too sweet. I would recommend this place for their food. read more

Food was delicious and good service! I loved the orange carrot natural juice and egg white omelette

This is a really nice spot at the end of a park and near the Elizabeth River. It's got both indoor and outdoor seating. It's got a great, bustling atmosphere. Definitely a hub of the community. Delicious coffee, pastries (including churros!), empanadas, and aguas frescas. read more

A coffee house with laid back attitude AND food! Not just biscotti and muffins, but sandwiches, burgers, soup and desserts... Cha ching! This little gem in Elizabeth is one I'll certainly be back too. Large and spacious, this place is exactly what it's called - a coffee house. The coffee was very good, though I'm not sure they have anything but legit cream to add (so what? Call it a splurge). Small at $1.25 and large at $1.75, eat your heart out Starbucks. I had a cheeseburger while working one day. It was good enough with a generous sized patty coming with lettuce, tomato (all fresh), and a few tortilla chips. The meat wasn't seasoned to be anything special, but quality was good enough. I stared at the mozzarella sticks at a table next to me and decided they were probably a pretty sure bet. I'll probably try the pastry items too - they looked awesome. I'm looking forward to visiting in the warm weather. The windows on the enclosed patio space look like they open and would make for a shady open air area for the summer. read more

Very nice job on this "Coffee House," coffee house. Excellent Columbian java, and a large display case with multitudes of dulces for the cake/scone/muffin/donut/cookie lover in all of us. I tried a piece of their Corn Cake which was cut from a large sheet cake sitting on the top shelf next to the register. It was moist, sweet and textural. It was a wonderful companion to the café. The space itself is set on the corner and is oriented on an angle so that you feel like you are walking into a diamond shaped store. There are plenty of tables for drinking, eating or just passing time. There are tables in the entrance area foyer where it would be pleasant to sit in warm weather. The staff is very friendly and willing to engage in any reasonable conversation. Their pride in their product is demonstrable and catchy. Coffee House could easily become a regular stop on my irregular trips to Elizabeth. read more

Tried this place out for the first time. Ordered a chicken salad sandwich which looked so pretty in the display case. It had a unique taste, I was pleasantly surprised. The bread was airy an delicious and the chicken salad was perfectly seasoned. My only complaint was the size of the sand which in terms of the price, I found it to be expensive for $5.50 for a tiny sandwich, look at the picture to see the size. Also had a churro which was good. I would come here again, maybe try the coffee which other yelpers rave about. read more

Coffee is delicious, empanadas are just as delicious. Pastries are all very tempting as well. I haven't tried anything from their menu that has truly disappointed. ***Just a tip, this is the spot that high-schoolers go to around 7-7:30 so be prepared for that and when they're out of school which is 4:00 but they do a fine job even when packed. *** I've also met the owner and she's a very sweet woman. read more

They wanted to charge me 0.50 for half and half in my coffee. It is listed no where on the menu, nor did they inform me when I ordered. I have never heard of that anywhere I've ever been. It didn't seem legitimate, so be cautions when you order here. read more

This place feels almost like a second home with the mint of times I visit. They offer flavors for the already great Colombian coffee (you can get it iced during the warmer times) And the Salvadoran pupusas are hands-Down the best I've had. They are always fresh ! The spinach empanada (warmed up) is always a good choice. The staff is friendly & it's a great place to stop into for some good food and warm drinks. read more

I've worked as a barista and as a cook in an Argentinian restaurant, so needless to say, I know my coffee and empanadas. I can confidently say that the folks here do too. The iced latte I got tasted amazing, and the pricing was astoundingly good. I also ordered a spicy beef empanada, and the flavors came through very well, although it wasn't extremely spicy. The café gives off a great, authentic vibe, and you can still sit inside (with social distancing). All in all, I highly recommend Coffee House for anyone in Elizabeth who wants some affordable coffee and a bite to eat. read more

Very Nice staff and very considerate offering utensils/napkins, & bags without asking. Food is very delicious. Reminds me of my spanish grandma's desserts. A+ read more

Coffee was decent, but not a very friendly place for people out of town. There's a $5 credit card minimum, and coffee was only $1.25, so I had to either buy food (which I had just eaten prior to coming here), or more drinks. I ended up having to buy 4 bottles of water. Would have been nice to have an option to start a tab or something so that I could have more than one coffee and also work up to that $5 minimum. Food did look good, like a typical Hispanic bakery. Just make sure you have cash or are planning to meet the $5 minimum. read more

Cappuccino was too sweet. Make sure you tell them not to add sugar. Had to adjust it with an extra shot of espresso!! Coconut pastry was okay - a little on the harder side but alright! read more

Best coffee house/bakery in all of Northern NJ, hands down. Located in the downtown area of Elizabeth, NJ you can always find a warm smile and a great meal accompanied by an even greater cup of coffee. I go here on the weekends when I am in need of a good ol' fashion "grandma" breakfast. The bacon is always crisps and the OJ is always freshly squeezed. A large selection of homemade baked goods as well. read more

Not as great as expected. Fruit smoothie wasn't made from fresh fruit; they used frozen mix instead. Grilled chicken wrap was ok. The place was full with loud high school kids read more

Love this place I always go for my fresh natural orange juice pulidas are great and the Salvadorean chicken sandwich is the best

Sometimes the most basic meals are the hardest to make and they have accomplished that! I had an egg sandwich and it was amazing! Yes, an egg sandwich. Two eggs between two slices of bread without cheese or meat. Thats it. They serve very good coffee as well. The restaurant was very clean and homey. And to top it off, the two ladies were very friendly! Excellent service with a smile! read more
