Ive been going here for years and never had issues in the past. but recently the hostility towards people of the LGBTQ is apperent. Ive always gotten empanadas or fries with friends in this place, and while it is good, the prices are asking too much for what it is. The decor is nice. The people here have told multiple LGBTQ couples to leave or sit in different tables since its 'bad for business'.The main customer base are the high schoolers who comes after thier classes are over. They are located right next to TJAA a school known for its high population of queer students and they made this decision. Even if it didnt alienate a percentage of thier customers, to openly discriminate is so incredibly wrong and unfair. read more

The food is overpriced for what you get. I've tried various items there such as French fries, onion rings, pupusas, bagels, Coffee, empandas, etc... The onion rings were disgusting. The Portuguese custard pastries are stalle and not worth the money. They are to expensive for what they serve and I haven't had one food item that was tasty to me. The coffee house it's pretty good. The service is always very nice. It's super convenient for the area and always has a bunch of people there. Some of the items are a little over priced but others are super reasonable so it balances out. I love the spicy beef empanadas and always get a jelly roll. I really wish they got brown sugar or honey as a sweetner. It would make a huge difference in my coffee or tea. I had come to this place for a quick brunch with my friends , we were in line to order food but were rudely kicked out because we had one outside drink , I was going to be a paying customer so I had a right to stay but almost all the staff came up to me and friends and argued and kicked us out, didn't even try to politely tell us to leave. This little gem in Elizabeth is one I'll certainly be back too. Large and spacious, this place is exactly what it's called - a coffee house. The coffee was very good, though I'm not sure they have anything but legit cream to add (so what? Call it a splurge). Small at $1.25 and large at $1.75, eat your heart out Starbucks. I had a cheeseburger while working one day. It was good enough with a generous sized patty coming with lettuce, tomato (all fresh), and a few tortilla chips. The meat wasn't seasoned to be anything special, but quality was good enough. I stared at the mozzarella sticks at a table next to me and decided they were probably a pretty sure bet. I'll probably try the pastry items too - they looked awesome. I'm looking forward to visiting in the warm weather. The windows on the enclosed patio space look like they open and would make for a shady open air area for the summer. read more

Very nice job on this "Coffee House," coffee house. Excellent Columbian java, and a large display case with multitudes of dulces for the cake/scone/muffin/donut/cookie lover in all of us. I tried a piece of their Corn Cake which was cut from a large sheet cake sitting on the top shelf next to the register. It was moist, sweet and textural. It was a wonderful companion to the café. The space itself is set on the corner and is oriented on an angle so that you feel like you are walking into a diamond shaped store. There are plenty of tables for drinking, eating or just passing time. There are tables in the entrance area foyer where it would be pleasant to sit in warm weather. The staff is very friendly and willing to engage in any reasonable conversation. Their pride in their product is demonstrable and catchy. Coffee House could easily become a regular stop on my irregular trips to Elizabeth. read more

Tried this place out for the first time. Ordered a chicken salad sandwich which looked so pretty in the display case. It had a unique taste, I was pleasantly surprised. The bread was airy an delicious and the chicken salad was perfectly seasoned. My only complaint was the size of the sand which in terms of the price, I found it to be expensive for $5.50 for a tiny sandwich, look at the picture to see the size. Also had a churro which was good. I would come here again, maybe try the coffee which other yelpers rave about. read more

They offer flavors for the already great Colombian coffee (you can get it iced during the warmer times) And the Salvadoran pupusas are hands-Down the best I've had. They are always fresh ! I've worked as a barista and as a cook in an Argentinian restaurant, so needless to say, I know my coffee and empanadas. I can confidently say that the folks here do too. The iced latte I got tasted amazing, and the pricing was astoundingly good. I also ordered a spicy beef empanada, and the flavors came through very well, although it wasn't extremely spicy. The café gives off a great, authentic vibe, and you can still sit inside (with social distancing). All in all, I highly recommend Coffee House for anyone in Elizabeth who wants some affordable coffee and a bite to eat. read more

Coffee was decent, but not a very friendly place for people out of town. There's a $5 credit card minimum, and coffee was only $1.25, so I had to either buy food (which I had just eaten prior to coming here), or more drinks. I ended up having to buy 4 bottles of water. Would have been nice to have an option to start a tab or something so that I could have more than one coffee and also work up to that $5 minimum. Food did look good, like a typical Hispanic bakery. Just make sure you have cash or are planning to meet the $5 minimum. read more

Located in the downtown area of Elizabeth, NJ you can always find a warm smile and a great meal accompanied by an even greater cup of coffee. Sometimes the most basic meals are the hardest to make and they have accomplished that! I had an egg sandwich and it was amazing! Yes, an egg sandwich.
