First time here. Very cute, small coffee drive thru. I love the Decore, and the menu is pretty large. They might want to update the intercom system just because we had a small problem with them hearing our other. While driving through the area to visit family, this little coffee cabin caught my attention. You can use the drive thru or walk up to order. I visited on a Saturday morning and was very impressed with the speed of the service. I was also impressed by the wide variety of the menu and the prices. The amount of of different drinks and food available was pleasantly surprising! I went with my favorite caramel macchiato and was quite happy with my order. It wasn't too sweet and the coffee stayed warm for quite a while. I also got a cranberry muffin. It was so good, but a bit small. Cute little coffee shop! The options for ordering are drive-thru or walk up. The space does not allow for dine-in. However, there are four picnic tables for you to enjoy your drinks outside. I really enjoyed my drink, iced latte with coconut syrup. However, I was disappointed that not a single staff member was wearing a mask. To be very honest - the REAL reason I went to Meijer's versus Whole Foods :) They now have a sign - temporarily closed due to business sale. Hope they come back. Allow them the opportunity to argue pi$$ vs $hit. After all, this is America. For us, the enlightened, nay the evolved, good coffee is never dictated by the contemporary zeitgeist. We're not slaves to convince or colorful, but bromidic caffeine concoctions. We want more from our coffee experience. We want bold, rich, distinctive flavor, unmistakable quality and consistency. This review is about the Coffee Cabin location in Schererville, specifically. The owners and employees are some of the best around. I've been to this particular store no less than 100 times and every single time, I've been greeted with a smile. The price is always right, the coffee always perfect, and the service, next to none. I cannot recommend Coffee Cabin, enough. This owners of this business clearly understand the importance of putting the customer first and hiring personnel that believe in their mission. Full disclosure, I drink my coffee black. Without exception, it's always black. Sometimes warm, but mostly it's over ice, but always black. This is not the case for everyone who's company I keep. As a result, I've tasted the majority of Coffee Cabin's creative offerings. They're all exceptional. The reason, why... It's their base. It's all starts there. It's like calculus, and remember you can't even begin to image how to tackle calculus without the knowledge of basic arithmetic. Unless you're a Field's Medal recipient, a noble laureate, or a Harvard janitor. Bottom line, if you start with good ingredients, you're already ahead of the game. If you want good coffee, on the fly, there is no better option. Maybe it's my punk rock sensibility, but part of me doesn't even want to share Coffee Cabin with anyone who'd opt for a Starbucks, latte macchiato, or a Dunkin' iced cappuccino blast, over a rich, dark roasted, black coffee, cold or hot. Service was quick and the baristas are very nice! I would recommend this place if you're in need of a quick place to grab a cup of coffee. There are tables outside that you can sit on when the weather is warmer. I ordered the white berry mocha and it hit the spot! They also have a variety of milk substitutions (almond, soy, coconut) which add variety for those who are lactose intolerant, vegan, or on a health kick. I'm still new to the area and missed the place the first time! It's right before the First Financial building and can be a little hard to spot at first. I've noticed the cute little cabin on my way to visit family and finally stopped by for a coffee. It's mainly a drive thru but you can also order at the front door which is what we did and were greeted by a very friendly barista. I ordered a hot latte and a Mountain Top Mocha iced coffee topped with whipped cream, caramel and mocha drizzle. The iced coffee was very tasty on a 95 degree day. I would be careful ordering items with meats and dairy from here because it definitely tasted off and made me sick for two days. This is our Saturday morning spot. I am anti-drive thru, so we always use the walk up window. Every employee is friendly and smiling. They've taken the time to get to know me and my husband since we come so frequently, and are practically making our drinks as we walk up. I can't speak to everything on the menu, but their lattes are delicious if that's what you're into. The variety of flavors they have is pretty nice - I feel like I could come here every day and try something totally new each time. Their baked goods are insane. This is for people that love specialty coffees but not coffee. I jest. Really though, the drinks are tasty but loaded with sugar. I'm sure you can ask them to put in less. Many dessert coffee treats. It's a paradise. Ditch the Star on every corner that's a hipster haven and check it out. They have really good cookies. Come to the darkside. I think they have regular coffee too but I was overwhelmed by all the dessert type choices. They serve them hot or cold and the place looks like a cute little log cabin. Plenty of outdoor seating and you can walk in to get your order. The place really is very small though, don't think you can sit inside. I did a drive up. It's new, it's clean (for now) and the people were friendly which of course is always a bonus. A smiling face and a crew that seems to care makes my day. read more

I give this place about a 3.5 out of 5 stars. Not because it didn't taste good but because it was bet misleading. It's called coffee cabin, right? Unfortunately, I seen more chocolate variety than coffee variety. I think I saw only 3 or 4 coffee drinks on the entire menu. Now as for the taste, I got something mocha, not exactly sure and I had a latte from there as well. Hmm, okay, I'm updating my previous review. First, it appears their rewards program gives you a point for every dollar you spend. Once you hit 100 points, you get a reward, which I believe is a free drink. Apparently they give you 50 points to start, so that's why I had over 50 points after my first order. I'm lowering my rating a bit because the employees need more training. Here's how my three orders have gone: Order 1: Large iced americano with cream. Receipt showed iced americano with 2%. Was delivered as such for $3 and it was very good, so I didn't care. Order 2: Medium iced coffee with cream. Receipt showed iced latte at a much higher price. Had to wait to get that straightened out. Order 3: Large iced americano with cream. Same order as first time, but this time I was charged 50 cents just for half and half (maybe milk is free, but seriously, cream isn't?). Then I was handed a hot coffee (the receipt did say iced) and had to wait while they fixed the order. So I've yet to receive what I actually ordered 3 times in a row, and the people who helped me and handed me my drink were different each time. Manager, time to talk to the staff. read more

The place is located conveniently and is super cute. If you're looking for more than just coffee they offer breads and other pastries but I was looking for coffee. They have interesting descriptions which are cute and clever but I wish they offered more coffee options. Additional I felt the prices were a bit steep. I used to love this place even over my beloved starbucks for awhile. Especially if I wanted to save some cash. However, a few months ago they switched brands for some of their flavors and things DID NOT taste the same. When I asked a staff member about why it did not taste right she pretended like she had no idea what I was talking about so I figured it was a bad batch, but after receiving the same off flavored drink another day they told me they switched flavor brands. I was willing to try other flavors to find something I liked especially for the price, but more recently they upped their prices, some things by over a dollar! Which is a lot when they were previously charging around $3 for a large and I paid close to $5 today. Also their rewards program takes extremely long to accumulate points and you need a lot to even redeem anything. Very disappointed and will be taking my business elsewhere at this point.
