Definitely a little happy-place for me. It's a coffee shop inside of Mill no. 5. They tend to open up before all the shops because the people need their coffee! I used to come hide out here and do work on the weekends. I came by recently and the vibe is exactly how I remembered. Great indie-ish music, calm & almost romantic ambience, lovely team. They let me use their charger for my phone as I chilled, very appreciated! I got their coconut cooler drink, which seems like a special for the summer -- was like a coconut lemonade. So refreshing! Other things I know are good here: black coffee, americanos, scones, cookies, kombucha. I haven't tried their food yet. There's a lot of seating (tables & booth seating). And they promote events that they do as well. They seem really cool, like jazz performances, open mic nights, and comedy shows. If/when I'm around, would love to check them out. I highly recommend! And if you're around on the weekends, there's usually a farmers market or bazaar event happening at Mill no. 5 too. read more

It's kind of unfair to other coffee shops that this place is in Mill No 5. You get to walk through this retro wood cabin vibe up to a counter looking like it just got done serving the needs of the pre-war working class and get served by...well, a hipster. That's pretty consistent with other cafes. But the cafe just continues the vibe, it has these little nooks for you to have your conversations about organized labor and these big windows letting in all that dusty post-industrial vibe. The drinks are...I mean, they're fine. Honestly, the actual food/drinks are just kind of so-so, but because it's such a cool vibe, it's impossible not to like the place. I'll add in here they have really good wifi and it's a stellar place to sit and get some work done. I was there in the afternoon and absolutely blown away it wasn't filled by useless little laptop jockeys like me. Can't avoid this place when I'm in Lowell. Great cafe to work - lots of space and tables and most people are there working. They have coffee specials as well as baked goods and sandwiches. The ginger snap and hobnob cookies were delicious! The WiFi is spotty in some locations so having meetings there isn't the best. The bathroom is outside and down the hall near the Luna theater, and the code is 0371. I'm sad Mill no 5 will be closing down and hope Coffee and Cotton can relocate and maintain the same vibes. read more

I was looking for a unique coffee bar while in Lowell. I found it! That actually took a minute. Coffee & Cotton is a hidden gem. Literally. If you are on Jackson St where you believe it should be, look for a lit yellow arrow in what looks like an alley. The arrow points to an elevator. The coffee shop is on the 4th floor. The food was delish! Something about a homemade bagel The coffee was good, not great. But semi worth the trek up the four flights of stairs and hefty price tag. The ambience is what I came for and it does not disappoint! I could read a book here all day sitting by the fireplace. Very beautiful cafe with a calm and quiet ambience. Very nice staff and clean place inside the Mills #5 building among some other restaurant and shops on the 4th floor. We enjoyed our coffees though expected better and then we wandered around the floor to look at various shops and venues. It seems the place is more active on the weekends and evenings. We were here in the mid afternoon. We enjoyed discovering the other various shops here. There's also a theater and Pizza shop in this mill. We definitely will go back there for the other discoveries. When we went, the elevators were down so be prepared to walk up some long flights of stairs. I discovered muscles in my legs I didn't know existed lol. read more

My rating is mostly for vibe. It's a chill spot. Me and one of my girl friends went there for a small bite but mostly to chat& catch up without having to be hassled for buying food or drinks etc or rushed. It's an old mill loft building. Rustic aesthetic, take the elevator to the 4th floor there are different shops, book stores, rooms to sit and chat, work, study, play games. I got the bacon egg and cheese - it was good. Maple lemonade- good if you like minimal sweetened watered down lemonade. BLT was good, can't mess up on that. I will return again for live music and they do small events there as well it seems. I've come here a few times. Even if there's a crowd, they manage to send out drinks quickly. The drinks are flavorful and worth the price. The last time I went, I tried one of their cinnamon rolls, which hit the spot. The baristas are very friendly. The dining area is large enough to accommodate the crowd they draw. Cozy atmosphere and friendly service! A great addition to the Lowell Mills district. Their baked goods selection is tiny, but the Lemon Blueberry Scone was good. With lemon scones, the drizzled glaze is often too sweet with too much of a distinct lemon oil smell that's almost plastic-y, but this one was great! For coffee I got the seasonal Lavender and Wildflower Latte - this was pretty much a normal latte with a slight scent of lavender. Not one I'd recommend. I'd more recommend the Tahini Date latte (also limited time) which you could actually taste and smell the sesame and dates. Creamy and delicious. The cafe also offers artists a monthly space to display their work at no cost which I find a very nice collaboration with the community. One thing I found puzzling was that even though I dined at the cafe, they gave me a paper cup rather than a ceramic cup. It was more strange because my friends who sat with me and had ordered right before I did, and they both had ceramic cups. I always look forward to the latte art on my drink if I order hot, but this time no art in the foam either :( of course my friends also had nice art on their cups as well. I'll certainly be back for the atmosphere and the art, but the drinks and food I'd say is pretty average. read more

I can't believe so much has changed in Lowell. Lots of improvements. So glad I got to try this coffee place and explore this warehouse. I remember walking down the streets toward the river when I was little. Anyways the staff here are cool and service is great. Coffee is alright, I had matcha maybe they put a little too much ice but other than that it was a great space for students and people to interact with others. Lots of sunlight. This place is located in the Mill No. 5, which is a very cool concept. We walked in pretty late on a Sunday, probably around 4pm. There were 3 young ladies behind the counter, one greeted us and the other ones kind of just wondered aimlessly even when we were ready to order no one acknowledged us. I got an iced crème brûlée latte, and my bf got a kombucha. The latte was okay, it was warm and had all coffee grounds at the bottom of the cup. This spot is super cute, so I wish the product coming from it was a little better! read more

I came here after work one day, around 4 PM. There was a group in front of me, of about five girls, who all ordered drinks. One girl, also named Lily, ordered a grilled cheese (this is an important detail, I promise). I proceeded to order, a matcha latte and a BLT. Then I sat down. Within 3 minutes, "Lily" was called, and I got up, assuming that my latte was done. But it was the other Lily's grilled cheese. Then I sat back down, since it wasn't mine, and a few minutes later, my name was called for the matcha latte. I've had better. It was not bad. I like that it wasn't sweet, and had a pure taste. It looked just like the ones that they serve at the cafe I work at -- green, no art or white. Fifteen minutes later, aka enough time for me to drain my drink, my name hasn't been called again, nor has my food appeared. Countless orders have come out, but not mine. It's since been twenty minutes since I first finished ordering. I went up to the counter to ask about why my order hasn't come out, and the girl who took my order said, "I thought I saw you pick it up." Mind you, I'm the only Asian in the whole cafe. I replied with, "that was a grilled cheese for another Lily." Not even the same order. I ordered a BLT. "We'll tell them to make you another one," the barista replied. She didn't even order the same item. Shouldn't employees start making an item the minute an order goes through? Just because they thought I took another girl's order (that wasn't even the same item as mine), did they stop making my food or just eat it because they thought I already ate? Rather than apologize for not making it in the first place, the woman, when my food came out after ten minutes, merely said, "I'm really sorry about the wait." I really wanted to say, "I already waited twenty minutes. What's another ten. For a sandwich." The food was okay. Nothing special, even if I had gotten it after the first ten minutes. read more

I watched an elderly woman struggling with trying to understand where the bathrooms were located and one of the employees escort her to the location. Atmosphere: Once we got some directions, we were on the 4th floor and it was like a separate civilization away from the world! A hip haven! Love it! Beverage: Earl Grey Tea Latte w/ Mocha- They didn't have any of the syrups for my tea latte so instead I tried it with mocha. After a recent visit to Coffee & Cotton, my "5" Star review stays as is... but I wish we could maybe add "5" more! It had been some time (B.C. - before COVID) since the last time I was here. I LOVE that they recognize fair wage practice, paying their staff a HIGHER HOURLY WAGE .. they no longer rely on tips. YES, the prices we pay are a bit higher. For what you get here, I personally don't mind! Hopefully this will be something that in the long run works best for all. By the time I visited ( last night) the main kitchen was closed... a sort of bummer because I was in the mood for one of their incredible grilled sandwiches. No worries though - they had a case chock full of wonderful looking bagels, scones, cookies, brownies and bars. I ordered a large house blend ( I drink it black) along with a "compost" cookie.... What is a COMPOST COOKIE? Well, I definitely had to ask....: - ) From the explanation it's similar to the, "Kitchen Sink" cookie. A mixture of a LOT of things like chocolate chips, coconut, oatmeal, walnuts and maybe dried cranberries? incorporated with buttery cookie dough, baked to perfection... 1 cookie for me is a meal! I brought my treasures over to one of the tables into the larger side room ( Ok, I admit that it used to have couches and I miss that ) where there are also large tables to play games. The entire place is still decorated well with the nice touch of books and games on shelves. Anyway, it wasn't long before I was in heaven savoring my "compost" cookie and coffee... Plenty of seating in little nooks around bookcases in this former mill space. Drinks are overpriced for their paltry size, but the taste is spot-on. What a gem of a place! I had a gig at Mill No. 5 so I stopped in at Coffee and Cotton to get a coffee and breakfast sandwich. The staff were very friendly and kind. The vibe was relaxing and nice. I ordered a nitro cold brew which was delicious. I also got their bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich w/ chipotle ketchup. It was scrumptious. The ingredients all were top notch. This cafe is located on the 4th floor on "Mill No. 5", an indoor streetscape of salvaged storefronts. "Coffee and Cotton" is a stunning and inviting cafe. They have a decent selection of coffee beverages, and great selection of small-eats! All of their baked treats are made in-house and they have locally-sourced options for breakfast and lunch. Between my husband and I, we ordered a coldbrew, dirty iced chai made with oatmilk, and a vegan strawberry doughnut. Everything was delicious! I highly recommend stopping in. read more

They've been extremely good about wearing masks, keeping the place safe for customers and maintaining enough distance for folks in the mill. They have a nice selection of different roasts and speciality drinks, as well as snack & sandwich offerings. BF and I just love this local coffee shop (especially the name for Lowell Cotton Mills). It's located in downtown Lowell on the fourth floor of Mill No. 5, which housed many other quaint shops (movie theater, yoga studio, music & records, apothecary, local grocery and cheese shops). The coffee shop's decor is vintage modern deck with a coffee/tea bar, long communal table, red metal chairs, and built-in bookcases. There's a semi private nook with comfy sofa for reading and lounge. We've been here a few times and there's never a problem with finding a place to sit. It's a great place to study or Internet surf! Only issue I have with this place is parking. They do not have own lot. There is on-street parking but it's an inconvenience if you need to stay longer than 2 hours. We've had their tea and latte and they are all really good. Tonight we went in to sample their new nighttime bar snacks (available after 4pm). We got their Sweet Potato Goat Cheese Tortilla. Not sure why it's not called quesadilla but it was DELICIOUS! It has a great balance between sweet and salty. The chipotle sour cream offers a refreshing spicy kick and the pickled red cabbage gave a nice tangy acidic touch to the entire dish. With autumn around the corner I can see myself coming back exclusively for this dish. :) read more

Im honestly never one to leave bad reviews, I work in the food and service industry, but I think food poisoning is a issue that should be addressed. I came in Saturday night at around 6:30 asking for a grilled cheese. The guy behind the counter said the kitchen was already closed down, I understand that but the lady behind the counter was working with a different customer and agreed to make a breakfast sandwich for someone else, when I addressed that it seemed like that kitchen hasn't closed if you're able to make breakfast sandwiches for other customers he was just kinda well sorry no. I asked what else there was and he pointed out the croissants, I ordered a spinach and cheese. I never realized the croissants for display were the ones being served, cheesy pastries cannot be left to sit out more than 2 hours. That one was clearly sitting out all day because it turned my stomach and got me terribly I'll that night and the following morning. The coffee was alright, but the staff was not accommodating, they were friendly enough but couldn't be bothered an hour and a half before closing to make a grilled cheese. And you know what I get wanting to close things early to go home I've been there but serving someone bad spoiled food is never okay. read more
