We loved it here! My grouper nuggets or tenders were far better than I was even expecting and the blackened grouper and coconut shrimp were also loved. The fajitas were not great. The green peppers tasted pretty gross and had to be tossed but everyone else was definitely happy with their food! A lot of the meals come with salad, which was good. You also get rolls with a cinnamon butter, yum. And you get peanuts! Came here after golf to have a dinner with friends and it turned out very well. We had reservoir a specific time and showed up at the appointed time and were seated immediately. Out waitress, cupcake, approached and took drink orders and explained some menu nuances, and off she went to fulfill the drink orders. When she returned, we all ordered our food, and explained the divisions of checks with individual grouping, and we then waited a short time. Those that ordered entrees, receive part of a big bowl of bottomless salad and we all had warm rolls with special butter. Our meals came quite quickly, even though the restaurant was full of hungry patrons. The food was hot, prepared as everyone ordered, and was enjoyed by all in our group. We stopped going to Cody's because of a very bad experience, but decided to come back after years. And I am not that happy with that decision. Our server was nice, but the steaks were cooked wrong, and the cheeseburger was extremely salty. We ordered a loaded potato and it came with two small pieces of bacon and cheese.... Nothing else!!!! After telling our server about it; we were given a "loaded mix" but that also came with cheese and very few pieces of bacon.‍ I truly think the staff is trying, but they are overwhelmed with all the snowbirds and just aren't able to keep up. read more

We attempted to dine at Cody's Sunday evening. We waited 45 miles for a table, were sat in an outdoor area that was very cold, waited 20 minutes for our drinks ~ water, ice tea and sangria. We ordered dinner and waited an hour for cold entrees. We rejected the cold dinners that were served, paid for our drinks and left without eating. We'd been there 2 hours. read more

I really wanted to like this place, and the bar is pretty low for this type of place in The Villages, but it was not good. They have a 2 for 1 drink special, I think it's every day, but I don't think there was even one drink worth of alcohol in the two drinks put together (manhattans in my case). If you're gonna take advantage of this, I suggest the wine or beer (as the others at our table did). Service is terrible. The drinks took forever to come, the appetizer was delivered along with the mains. The burgers were okay, but the French Dip was horrible. Lots of inedible gristle, way overcooked and dry and the sandwich was too small. The pickle chips were good though. It was crowded, but I can't fathom why. I won't return. read more

The live music, though pleasant, was often excessively loud, making it nearly impossible to hold a conversation. Our server was very nice, but exceedingly slow. Initially, the restaurant was relatively busy, which somewhat justified the delay, but then the wait kept getting longer and longer, even as the crowd thinned. I'm convinced the server forgot to put our order in until way later... The food was mediocre at best. We began with fried pickles, which met our expectations without exceeding them. For my entrée, I chose the French dip with au jus, accompanied by a side of mac and cheese and fries. The French dip was acceptable, yet the au jus lacked flavor and was disappointing. Went there 2x times this. Every meal was great. One day after golf my husband had "the best pork chop he ever had" then we made reservations for Valentine's Day as we had company coming in that day. It's was super busy but with our reservations they took us right in to a great table and we all had filet and lobster. Terrible experience last visit all because of head bartender. Won't go thru the details but everything botched and we are both bloated from the soups (potato and French onion) and/or the house salad. Something was very chemically in something. Not sure what was off. The lead bartender could have used customer service skills to have happy customers who want to return but possessed the opposite skill set instead. Two for one wine stops at 7 pm, which I did not know. It's the only reason we go to Cody's so definitely keep that in mind. It makes no sense why it'd stop at 7 pm as the place was empty past 7 pm. Overall I can say that this place was pretty decent. Unlike most places I dined at in The Villages, it appears they have a deep fryer. This is a huge deal in my opinion. I was able to eat fried food! Service was good. The waitress was attentive and skilled in the lost art of writing her name upside down on the paper table cloth. The 2 for 1 beers helped out the experience. It was kind of a late lunch/early dinner, so wasn't overly busy. I will say, the lunch special menu was weak! Who wants a dang Pimento Cheeseburger? Quit trying to make a simple Cheeseburger more than it needs to be. This place is full of elderly people that like simple things that they can pronounce. So I'm from South Jersey Philadelphia area you know go Birds and we have some places there that are similar to Cody's. One of those just called P.J. Whelihan's and the other is Chicky and Pete's Cody's now has some really nice selections and some daily specials the one I especially like the two for one fajita dinner with your choice of meat or shrimp. I also like the two beers for one you can never have enough Yingling I've been down here for a while now in the Villages area. and from what I have had as an experience with eating and Cody's, I decided to give it a four I mean come on if you can get a medium rare New York strip for $25 and two sides and two beers for one and peanuts on the table... We really gotta take a rest or so much. So give Cody's a try I don't think you'll be disappointed. Oh by the way, if you don't like beer, get a couple mixed drinks. The last time I ate at one of these was in Clearwater and I was sad to see that close. I was excited when I saw that they had one right in the village. What a great place to catch for happy hour, the drinks are cold and flowing quick and easy. Of course this is in the village so 4:00 is almost late for dinner LOL but, the food did not disappoint. Oh no, we had such a great experience the last time we came here two years ago. Today was the total opposite. So now I suppose I can understand the mixed reviews. Maybe not worth the chance if you want a decent experience, taking out your family, or visitors, etc. What a difference a terrible server and front house makes. The table next to us had a fantastic server, she had the table laughing, brought drinks and refills, they put in their app orders and entree orders, all the food came out quick, before ours, and they even got salad and rolls. While we sat at a table, with no napkins, no drinks, no salad and no rolls. Food came out wrong, some dishes hot, some not. My entree was nowhere near as delicious as the last time. Also curious to know why the server had an airpod in her ear, maybe there was a reason. She wasn't having a good day, and I kinda felt bad for her. The manager quickly fixed the wrong order and apologized, gave the "sorry, short handed" answer and took off 15%, which did not seem commensurate with the discomfort of everything. I get we are short handed, but make us wait for a table instead of triple seating us in a section for a server that spans the entire dining room inside and out. Not that we wanted a discount. And Kay Kay came out at the end and asked if we wanted anything to go? Our fridge is packed, and would have preferred to have maybe the apps taken off the bill. I would have even taken a gift card for a next visit. (Although we really thought about taking a salad with us, but when am I going to eat that? All wilted a day later.) Slow,Poor service, My wife asked me to try her Margarita. I am an alcoholic... she said that is ok, this classifies as NA. My glass of clube soda had so much ice it barely left room for club soda. Part 1 We had been here 2 years before. If anything could have gone wrong, that visit, it did. The waitstaff left us sitting forever. Nobody had been assigned to our table. We finally got our orders taken. After waiting a half hour food was finally brought to our table...but it was another tables order! Our order was not to be found & had to be resubmitted. Another half hour wait. When it appeared, my medium burger was raw cold in the middle and my husband's rare steak was well done. Apologies were issued and we received cards for 2 free dinners. Part 2 Tonight we gave it another try. Our server did not know we had the cards for free meals. Service was excellent as was our food. Husband had the half rack of ribs and I, the Cobb salad. Our food arrived promptly and was just delicious! When it was time to pay and I handed our server the cards, she smiled and said she had to speak to the manager. The manager came over. She asked about our previous experience and then asked about today's food and service. We appreciated her questions and her concern that this visit was top notch. Ok, I realize that Cody's ratings might be a bit lower than this, but my experience was pretty good. I arrived around noon to find cheap beers and friendly service waiting for me. But it was Cody's King Kong sliders that won me over. I ordered two sliders for under $3 each, expecting your basic slider; however, what I received was basically two cheeseburgers stacked for business. Dressed with a massive onion ring, each cheeseburger slider was a meal unto itself. Hearty and delicious, it was all I could do was to finish just one.. the second slider made for the perfect inflight snack later that day. I got an email from Cody's a couple of days ago stating that they had a Sunday special from 11 AM until 3 PM. It was a full meal for $12.98. I went in today and they had a choice of three things. I chose the brisket over Texas toast. It came with vegetables and my choice of a side. It also came with their endless salad. It also came with their buns with cinnamon butter, and also pumpkin pie for dessert. I ate what I could and brought the rest home and had that for dinner. Everything was excellent, and the service was great. I've always loved their endless salad, but today was the first time I got to take some home. I think this will be a recurring Sunday treat for me, as they do this every Sunday with different entrées. read more
