The advertised outdoor seating is false. We arrived around 545pm. The inside was crowded and we practically begged the hostess to be seated outside. She curtly said "no" we're not seating guests outside tonight. She had offered us a table in the middle of a very crowded dining room. I saw the table and the area and declined. Took my family and left. It's a shame this happened. I've eaten here 4 months ago and the food and service was excellent. The food service today is terrible. It took 45 minutes for the onion rings to come out. It has been an hour and we are still waiting for 2 fried chicken salads. After we raised a ruckus our waiter became much more attentive. The manager made it right by comping both salads. This is not the service we are accustomed to at Cody's. It's very bad. Don't go. Steak was raw. A lot of fat for a ribeye, but not good fat. Just globs and globs of fat around and in the middle of the steak.I would have had them send it back, but it didn't have any flavor or seasoning.I just asked for a Togo box to take it to the dog. I was concerned after TYE mixed reviews but I was VERY pleased with the food and the service. Came around 8pm on Sunday and was seated right away. The waitress came a few minutes later and was very sweet and reviewed a couple of menu items. Ordered the grilled Caesar, grilled Haddock and the chicken wings. Plates were huge. Chicken Caesar was a bit overdone but it was tasty. Wings were huge and tasty. My haddock was very good with the coke slaw that was perfect. I recently went for my birthday dinner along with my husband and daughter. I also had a $10 off birthday email. The waitress (Alexis) was terrible. We asked about drinks, she had no idea what was on draft or what brand wines they have, and she kept saying the drink menu was over there. I finally asked her to go get it so we could see it. My daughter ordered a regular margarita with salt rim. It came unsalted. It tasted like limeade. It was weak and we didn't taste any alcohol in it. The salad was warm and wilted. Not like the usual wilt. It was like it was made in a hot bowl. The dressing didn't taste right either. Very strong vinegar. I ordered rib eye medium. It was hands down the worst steak I've ever eaten. It was room temp, zero seasoning, and extremely tough. I took two bites and left the rest on my plate. Everyone else's food was mediocre. Either the temperature, or how it was cooked, etc. Our waitress must have known the people behind us, as she stayed stalled at their table talking about personal things with them. When she finally came back I told her I had a bday email for $10 off and she started grabbing for my phone. I told her she wasn't going to handle my phone and she said well there's a code. I was showing her the email. There isn't a code. She said she'd send over the manager (Monika). Another 10 minutes and she came back asking if the manager came by, stating because you know how managers are. The manager walked up behind her. She looked at my email wanting to handle my phone. I said $10 off is not worth you handling my phone. She looked at it without her hands and saw the email was indeed for $10 off bday. The bill finally came and we paid without a tip! We never do this. We didn't complain about the food or service, because to be frank, it's not even worth it. We'd have been there so much longer, what would they do, heat my terrible steak up? Offer a new one that would come out in 30 minutes? We decided no tip is the best way to convey how we felt about our experience in a situation like this. When we got home we realized the side of the bench my husband and I were sitting on wasn't clean and we had smeared, hardened mashed potatoes all over our backs and pants. Disgusting! Glad we didn't leave a tip! We will absolutely never go back there or any other Cody's. So gross! This place needs to be shut down. read more

There were six in our party, five adults and one child. When they brought the meals out they only brought the five adult meals without the child's. They said they would take care of it. 20 minutes later asked again because still had not received the child's dinner. Another 20 minutes past and asked one more time. Finally 20 minutes later ask for the manager they still had not started the meal for the child. Everyone at the table had finished eating in the child still had not received her meal yet. When they did bring it out they did say they were sorry but didn't even comp the meal. While we were waiting for her to finish eating they actually sat down someone right next to us that was part of a large party that told us that we were holding them up from being able to sit down. I've never seen anything like this I just couldn't even believe that it even happened. I wish there was the ability to give Cody's a zero Stars. Right after that is when they failed their health inspection as well. read more

Friendly staff, prompt service, even after staff warming other customers of delays due to short staffing and back up in kitchen. We were not given that warning. I ordered the prime rib, not impressed. It was warmed on a grill, so it had a charred finish throughout. Flavor was not bad, and it was warm, portions were plentiful, and otherwise well prepared. Prime Rib being one of their most advertised items, should have presented a nice finish and presentation. Bathrooms left a lot to be desired (men's), with strong odor and floor noticeably unkept, not dirty just seems like there was little or no upkeep during the business day. It was not so crowded as to not have oversight on cleaningness. I'll maybe is due to mentioned staff shortage, but surely something that is most likely easily solved. read more

The mashed potatoes were creamy. I had a burger which was also very flavorful. The Mac and cheese, rolls, and ranch dressing salads were also yummy. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. I have been coming to this restaurant for over 17 years and was always my favorite place in Crystal River. For the past 2 or 3 years it has rapidly declined to maybe a 1 star review, bad service, cold food and just dirty. Well if you're looking for an authentic roadhouse then Cody's is turned into the one. Don't go to the restroom unless you have all your shots. When I refer to having all your shots I mean make sure you're vaccinated but a couple of tequila shots wouldn't hurt either. Restrooms are pretty filthy. Floors are pretty filthy. It's a little crowded and the tables are getting old. So at the bar if there's room space is limited. You'll get a plate for food. The food is not that great. The price is really good but only if you're just looking to fill up. Their bar special try chicken is very bland and mine was overcooked both times I ordered it. The bar burger hit and miss you might enjoy it one time and then it come out over done another. Fries when you get them from the bar the same way sometimes you're over done. My friend and I came here after we went swimming with the manatees in Crystal River. One of the employees recommended a restaurant, but we couldn't find it and then just randomly came across Cody's. Lucky for us! It was their anniversary celebration week and they had tons of specials. Normally, they also have have an early bird menu from 3:30 to 6:00pm Monday to Saturday, which we were able to take advantage of. I had the Chicken fried chicken salad. It was massive, and I had tons leftover. It could have easily been an entree for two people and such a deal at $6.98! They also serve it with rolls and a cinnamon butter, which was different...but in a good way! You get a lot of bang for your buck here. The service was very friendly and attentive too. read more

Hostess busy flirting with another employee, several wait staff meandered by. Three wait staff are in the next room chatting and rolling silverware. Finally got up and told hostess what happened and left, on the way out several people offered to take care of us....REALLY? We were ten year patrons and always also went with 4 to 6 friends for their anniversary dinners where whatever you ordered you got a free meal of the same amount and we all would go back together in the next few months and be happy with us all sitting together and buying drinks and appetizers at the same table. I ordered the prime rib, also medium with loaded baked potato. Rolls came out hot and tasty. My steak was was cool and the potato was cold; cheese didn't even melt, hers was rare and cold. We had NOT ONE, BUT TWO of them try to make contact with my children and family yesterday! The first one you could tell something was "off" with the dude. I got up and told him it was time to leave. The man was all like "oh I'm so so sorry..." and started BLOWING ME KISSES WINKING AT ME. In Crystal River, FL this is a really cool and laid back place. Just like the name says its a Roadhouse with that atmosphere and decore inside. Great food from the burgers to steaks and ribs and seafood. You would never guess this place has so muxh amazing food.
