Trip Advisor refuses to post this review (I've tried). So in the interests of protecting everyone, I'm putting it on Yelp.
Here's what transpired. In April 2015 I booked a room with my two cats.
A day in, the interesting ladies at the front desk asked me where my car was the day before. I realized they were watching my car. I also was worried about all the questions I was asked by some strange characters who loiter on lawn chairs in their parking lot-- they wanted to know who I was, where I worked, my neighborhood in Seattle, etc.
I had already made appointments for both my cats to get checkups at the local vet. I resolved to leave early after I realized these people were strange.
They beat me to it. I came in. They had entered my Do Not Disturb marked room-- I had gotten their OK to not have maid service two days before. The house keeper was loitering in the hall outside my room waiting for me. She called me a vicious obscenity easily 15 times in a row (e.g., "You're a Sick [female dog]!" Over and Over and Over. And Over! "GET OUT!!" she shrieked. It was truly terrifying. I did not respond because she was clearly completely out of control, potentially drunk or high on drugs, and I had two animals that I had to protect from this madwoman. Once in my room, I discovered that there were notes taped to the mirror signed the Manager and the housekeeper and these notes were also obscene and defamatory. The one from the Hotel Manager was authored in blue crayon. They said they were taking my cats to the Humane Society.
My cats were fine. They had two fresh litter boxes, wet food, dry food, water, toys and blankets. They knew I had cleaned my litter box the day before because I asked the lovely ladies at the front desk who were all smiles at that point where to put my garbage. There were HUGE plastic bags on my bed which weren't mine. They were very very very very angry that I arrived before they could steal my cats and my belongings.
I went to the police. I showed them the notes left for me. They said, "They are mean people, that's for sure. But there is no crime here." In fact, I think they did commit identity theft using personal paperwork and invoices they found in my room.
Then I went to the vet whom I already had met and the vet was astonished and absolutely horrified at this behavior and how I, a stranger in Cody, was treated.
These people are not of sound mind and they DO NOT respect your privacy. Stay away from here. They are criminals.
There was also a huge mess in the room next door to me which was their domain-- the room door was wide open for the duration of my stay. So I was a bit confused by their parting shrieks of "You're a slob!" across the parking lot as I drove away. I was organizing my paperwork and I have a right to do that in a room I paid for. I was trying to locate records the vet needed on one of my cats' most recent blood work. She is 16 years old and has kidney disease. I have had this cat since she was eight weeks old, and love her dearly. But this hotel announced in these notes on my mirror that I "do not deserve to have cats."
Well, I don't think they deserve to have a motor lodge. If you value a) your privacy and b) your pets, stay away from the Cody Motor Lodge.
P.S. I still can't even believe this, but they actually refused to refund my money for the last night that I had reserved my room for. I was not there, bear in mind. Apparently, they perceive their job as being paid to harass, stalk, verbally assault, insult, and terrify people they have known three days. I had to go to my bank back in Seattle and fill out paperwork to get this charge removed. I thought that was pretty much the icing on the cake for the Cody Motor Lodge. read more
