72. Grilled Chicken Salad Bowl

I have been wanting to try Coda for a while. It is APP Week and it was ordered for us for lunch. Thinking I was ordering something "small"...I was very mistaken...in a good way. SO much goodies. Most salads are primarily lettuce. This is FULL of the fun stuff. And the price isnt out of this world for what you get. Tons of protein as well. The soy vinaigrette is equally as good and they give you plenty. We will definitely need to go in person and try other options.

The food is great here. I never knew. I had the sandwich and it was great. It is very busy here, staff just want you make your order and just move on. It is located in a sketch area but inside was good. I would come back. There are no fountain drinks you can get in a container or they will make you a Thai tea

It's been over a year since I last reviewed Coda although we have eaten here many times since then. This place is our go to for take out Vietnamese. They are always busy, but you get in and out quickly and there isn't anything we've tried that isn't delicious. Make sure to try the coffee, it packs a punch! This time we got three different noodle bowls, pork, chicken, and tofu. They are large enough that we always make two meals out of one bowl, so it's a great value.

We have been here before, but no one can find a previous podcast, and we cannot figure out why we might not have done a podcast on the Coda Bakery - a truly great eating establishment located in Albuquerque's International District. Fortunately, we went back and had a great eating experience. Our group sampled a variety of different offerings, and one was better than the other. Counter service and sufficient tchotchkes to make the interior ambiance homey. Worth a trip to sample some great food. Just click on the following YouTube video link to see why we will be coming back. https://youtu.be/hMn510_CVy4?si=huKmR_P93SLwOOSZ

Grilled chicken banh mi

Bahn mi were big! I've definitely paid more for sandwiches half that size. The bread is delicious and stays delicious even after a day in the fridge- mind blown! I got the grilled chicken banh mi with extra veggies on the way to an appointment. Planned on eating half, but scarfed the whole thing in the car. Picked up my man a combo bahn mi, he said the meat texture was a little strange, but delicious nonetheless. I ordered online and pick up was quick and easy Excited to come back to try their boba!

I had hit a point in my trip where my body just NEEDED Asian food. They had a ton of other items laid out for you to pick up, but I went solely to get my hands on a banh mi. Ordered a combination to share with my fiance and good thing I did! Sandwich was HUGE and packed with meat. Bread was soft and crunchy at the same time. Not too bready and definitely did not cut up the top of my mouth. Only thing I wished was more pate! The cashier's attitude could've been better. Asked her what's in the case since there weren't signs, but she answered like I'm bugging her. Followed up asking if they would have anything else pate filled, she just repeated her prior answer with extra annoyance. Observed her attitude with other customers and it was so inconsistent. Restaurant was large and clean. Not sure if it's a regular thing, but when I went to get napkins, there was a homeless lady there helping herself to a huge cup of water (and making a mess) and a ton of napkins.. None of the employees seemed phased? Good choice in ABQ to scratch the itch for Asian food. Customer service was a turn off.

Coda Bakery is so amazing! It was my favorite meal of my trip to New Mexico. If you're in the area, you need to make a stop here. Love, Love, Love! This place has delicious Vermicelli Noodle Bowls and Bahn Mi Sandwiches. The grilled pork was a must get. The price is reasonable and there are plenty of seats inside to enjoy your meal at. The staff was very friendly. Plus there's free parking and restrooms inside. Highly recommend Coda Bakery and will definitely be back soon!

Coda Bakery is my favorite Vietnamese deli of all time. Whenever I'm in town, I have to stop by here! Their bánh mì are incredible. The bread is freshly baked. The sandwich itself is huge. It is 12" long and they are generous with the amount of meat/filling. They have so many delicious, authentic Vietnamese snacks and treats, including chè, bánh da lợn, and xôi. I also like to buy their freshly made tofu and chả lụa. I love that they have a New Mexican fusion version of pâté chaud that is filled with green chile chicken. They used to be located near Talin Market, but they've since moved. The new location is bigger and more spacious.

Everything on the menu is a must to try! It maybe busy but all worth it especially the pork/shrimp spring rolls. It's no surprise when you see the long line and it's an experience to see how the new location is built.

Fried tofu w/ green onion and wood ear mushrooms

One of my go to's when I'm in Albuquerque, though it's been a minute since my last visit and I didn't realize they changed locations and expanded. New spot is much bigger and still fills up. Got my usual pork banh mi and tried a side of fried tofu, both were amazing. Had the tofu with green onions and wood ear mushrooms, and it was so delicious and soft and sweet and perfectly paired with the fish sauce/soy sauce side. Pork banh mi was tasty and had such flavorful pieces of pork and were well distributed across the sandwich. Perfectly pickled daikon and carrots. Crowded even on a Thursday afternoon, but still were able to grab a table.

If you are in Albuquerque and craving a solid banh mi, CODA Bakery is a great spot to check out. I ordered the classic banh mi dac biet, and it absolutely delivered. The cold cuts were flavorful, the bread was fresh, and the meat to bread ratio was just right since I like more meat than bread. This is an excellent option for a quick lunch, but I would recommend staying to eat if you can. The decor is simple, the space is clean, and there are a few tables available. It does get busy during the lunch rush, but the line moves quickly and is well worth the wait. While the banh mi definitely steals the show, there are plenty of other options on the menu. Their banh cuon, thin rice noodles filled with ground pork and wood ear mushrooms, was good, though still second to the sandwiches. They also offer pate chau, a flaky puff pastry filled with pork pate, including a New Mexico style version with chicken and green chile. They have a variety of Vietnamese desserts like che, which I did not get a chance to try this time. My coworker loved their traditional Vietnamese hot coffee. I do not drink coffee, but I did enjoy one of their smoothies, which was refreshing and delicious. Overall, CODA Bakery is a go to spot for authentic Vietnamese flavors and one of the best places in Albuquerque for banh mi.

Okay, I have to say this is the second time I've been here and unless something changes, this is a definite go to spot whenever I'm in ABQ! We had the rolled noodles, grilled pork sandwich, fried tofu, spring roll, and a chicken turnover type thing, and my all time favorite, the banh cam! My apologies but I was so excited to be here the second time I didn't take pics of all the food or the menu! I just wanted to EAT! Admittedly having my cute 1 yo grandson eating with us was also a major distraction. Okay back to the food! Loved the rolled noodles that come with fixings and spheres of meat. Had to ask my pals back in the Bay Area where I can get this dish so stay tuned for Bay Area and LA recs. Coda makes it great and I love the explosion of flavors and textures. Soft noodles filled with bits or pork and mushrooms contrasting with the cucumbers, cilantro, bean sprouts, fried garlic and spheres of meat. The sandwich is a foot long and way better than what you'd get at the famous "foot long" place. The bread is fresh, the veggies crisp and the meat perfectly grilled. The chicken turnover tasted like a buttery pot pie. Gson loved the buttery flakey shell. Mmmmm what's not to love about that? The fried tofu is made in house and it tastes nice and fresh. Make sure you eat it while it's warm and dip it on the soy sauce. The bahn cam is what I came for (and the noodles). It a great crunchy exterior with a creamy coconut filling. Sadly on this second visit the inside was not as good as the first time but the shell still had a satisfying crisp crunch. I'm coming back for sure! The place is a bit cramped to eat in and I see a lot of orders to go. There are a few tables outside if you can stand the heat!

Pandan cake - flavor was too subtle, but I liked the texture

All were hot and good flavor. I had the chicken and shrimp noodle bowl. The chicken and shrimp were grilled and tasty. My hubby had the chicken and shrimp udon soup. He liked it. The chicken was a little tough to chew. But the flavor was good. My son had meatball pho. It was tasty and very hot (temp). All seemed fresh and served hot. The papaya salad is good but I've had better. The papaya is sliced thinly which I love. The cocktail shrimp are sliced in half and spread out on top. Some crunchy scallions topped in the center. The dish is good and I would have liked more things in the papaya. Pickled shallots , tiny shrimp, something crunchy . It was fine - needs something more . The ambience includes couples, families and singles. Unfortunately at 8 pm they were fixing the room and a few employees were sliding the chairs on galvanized concrete and it was almost as bad as fingernails on chalkboard.
