This was totally my mistake. I had set my mind up to not bike that day once I realized the error However Lara was so gracious and kind about my mistake. She immediately walked me over to the office and started trying to figure out what else we could do. She really want the extra mile and ended up coordinating bikes from the hotel, recommending a route since now we wouldn't have a guide, and offering to drive us up if we weren't able to catch the shuttle. There's no place I will rent a bike in Bend besides here thank you Cog Wild.

One of the Best Parts of Bend Was Right Outside Our Hotel…read more While staying in downtown Bend, my family and I were looking for something outdoorsy and close by, and the Deschutes River Trail ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. What started as a casual morning walk quickly turned into a beautiful four-mile hike filled with rushing rapids, peaceful river bends, towering pine trees, and some incredible Central Oregon scenery. One of the best parts of this trail is how much the landscape changes as you go. At some points the river was calm enough for paddleboarders floating by, and at others the rapids were roaring against the rocks with serious energy and sound. The trail itself was also a nice mix. Some sections were smooth and paved, while others became a little more rugged with dirt paths, rocks, and small elevation changes that made the hike feel adventurous without being overly difficult. I would still consider this a very approachable hike for most people and fitness levels. We saw walkers, runners, families, and people out with their dogs enjoying the trail. Pro tip: bring water, especially on warmer days, because parts of the trail are fully exposed to the sun. Another thing I appreciated was how accessible this experience was from downtown Bend. We were able to walk straight from our hotel into what felt like a completely different environment surrounded by river, forest, and nature. We eventually wrapped up near the Old Mill District, which made for the perfect ending with shops, restaurants, and a chance to relax after the hike. Sometimes the best travel experiences are not the big tourist attractions, they are the simple moments outside on a trail reminding you why places like Bend are so special.

Brought it in to The Hub Cyclery and after inspecting it TJ (the owner) found that the it was only the cable set screw that some how loosened after many years. All he had to do was tighten it and adjust the shifting. Great that TJ was so up front about this. I will be going here from now on for any of my bike service or needs. We appreciate Stacey organization and equipping the van with all the essentials - stove, pots & pas, spices, table, chairs, awning, bike rack, etc - that we always had what we needed and felt prepared. Took it to another shop in town, and they said derailleur was grossly out of alignment and wore out his chain and cassette. So basically PB was gaslighting BF for 2 years saying nothing was wrong when the bike was set up like trash from day one. Obviously they are not competent mechanics or they would have fixed this immediately. Instead they just wanted more parts business by letting him destroy his bike.

However when my daughter asked about the rock hard seat made more for a racer road bike, the man causally said that what they have for, "floor models" after 4 hours we headed back walking 1/3 of the way, jeezus never been so in pain on my Ischium. Both of us ! When we returned the bikes a day early cause we wanted to get rid of them. They asked how it was and I said yes it was a beautiful day and a great ride but we only enjoyed half of it.. he didn't remark and we were on our way. Wouldn't come to this bike rental again unless I had my own seat with me ready to go or my own bike and I was just going for repairs. I'm gonna spend the rest of my short vacation hobbling around with bruised bones.
